I started reading Crossings, and it really is so incredibly fascinating! So glad you recommended it. I can't wait for the Lotus Empire. I probably should reread the first two books in the series before it comes out. Hope you enjoy The Warm Hands of Ghosts as much as we did when you pick it up!
Yay for getting into Crossings, it has such a gripping start right?! Immediately hooked me in. Lotus Empire is coming so quick, I keep feeling like there is so much time before it will be out, but it's only a couple months now!!
Excited to hear your thoughts on The Tainted Cup and The Warm Hands of Ghosts when you get to them! That copy you have of The Warm Hands of Ghosts is so beautiful. I am also intrigued by that T. Kingfisher horror book and need to see if I can get a hand on a copy from my library
The WHoG is the Waterstones's edition, it is sooooo pretty. I got lucky and saw someone haul it right after I had decided I wanted to buy a copy of the book and before I had just bought the US edition (which is nice, but not as shiny!). I definitely bet you would like Hollow Places. It's got a great southern gothic-ish vibe, museum of oddities, a gay barista sidekick, and portal weirdness! Then again, Kingfisher is always a hit for me really, so I might not be objective...
Adding Crossings to the TBR - I'm currently on a nonfiction kick. I really need to try Garth Nix! I have a feeling I'd like their works. The movie you mentioned sounds similar to the plot of the book Down the Rabbit Hole by Juan Pablo Villalobos though much less about the childs discovery, but it is told from the child's perspective.
Crossings is an under the radar hit! I hope you are able to get to it. I really enjoy Nix, he writes a lot of fantasy that feels familiar yet fresh, and always has such great characters. Yes! That should be the book the movie is adapted from.
That is exciting to hear, I tbr'd the Beaver book right away after I read Crossings, so we've got the inverse of each other going on there 😆 speaks to his quality definitely! I hope you are able to get to it it soon, there was so much heart and empathy there for the world around us.
I loved Sabriel narrated by Tim Curry! I picked up the second book but it didn't hook me so I dnfed. The Tainted Cup was awesome. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
The second book was definitely weaker, so I can understand that, though it still pulled me in eventually. Did you like the main character less? I think that was the main thing that didn't work as well for me, though I feel the plot is a lot of starting things and not many conclusions that is kind of harder to get along with in a long book. I neeeeeed to prioritize Tainted Cup, but I have so many other things I want to get to also 😭
@ReadBecca It was a few years ago so I don't quite remember but do remember feeling bored and like it was not even in the same world. It's probably a blessing you putting off The Tainted Cup because you'll just join all of us waiting for book 2. It's coming out in February so the less time you have to wait, the better! 😀
He is the best, I'm sad he only did the first 3 books on audio, I did look and found out he narrated the whole Series of Unfortunate Events audios too tho!
Love and saffron sounds delightful. That’s gone straight on my wish list
So glad to hear it! Love & Saffron was such a charming delight with loads of heart, I'm very surprised I haven't seen more booktube buzz about it.

Crossing has been on my tbr ever since the author announced it. I loved his previous book on beavers. Thank you for putting it back on my radar!

@@ReadBecca haha how funny that we're reversed! I immediately put a hold on my library for Crossings and hope to read it in August.
