ever since I became born again this year, it is my HONOR to obey God!! It blows my mind those who "believe" but do not take it seriously. Lord, help me believe and obey more!!!! please!!!!
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,” Ephesians 1:13 KJV
caseman caseman Christ alone IS our righteousness. The law was to show us our sin. “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.” Romans 7:7 KJV “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” Romans 3:20 KJV “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:” Romans 3:22 KJV Too many scriptures to show but you can read that WHOLE book of romans and not take scripture out of contex as many do, understanding the WHOLE counsel of God. By no means do I say these things to justify sin or disobedience to His word and commands. But when it comes to the gospel we must have the understanding and revelation that it is grace through faith in Christ and the sacrifice. Works are a fruit of true salvation and repentance. Many people think baptism in water is salvation but it’s Christ who baptizes us. “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews o r Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV “One Lord, one faith, one baptism,” Ephesians 4:5 KJV There are people like myself who’ve been baptized more than once in re-dedicating my life to Christ. Baptism in Jesus name is important in-fact I was baptized in His name as a result of the love I received by calling on His name and decalring Him as Lord and His Holy Spirit setting me free from many strongholds. But saying that until I get baptized I’m saved is not the Gospel. Be careful with people who take ONE scripture or ONE book out of the bible and run with it, that’s how cults get started. Don’t add or take away from the Gospel. Also, don’t let your walk with God be works driven. The church of Ephesus suffered this same problem and Jesus said return to your first love (Rev. 2:4) My first love is when Jesus revealed Himself to me and began to purify my heart overtime. (PROCESS of sanctification) Follow Jesus and rightly divide the word of truth in intimacy with the Lord don’t just base your faith from another man or ministry. Love you more grace in Jesus name 🙏🏽✨
@@felixwiselives agreed. I truly believed, was saved, was in relationship with jesus, loved him, and then because of that love went and got baptised because I wanted to declare my faith and show my obedience and love for God. The gospel is that jesus is the son of God, and he died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead 3 days later. It is that Jesus sacraficed himself for our sins and the father gives us the righteousness of God as a free gift. It is no longer a reliance on our righteousness, but instead a full reliance on Jesus's righteousness, imparted to you as a free gift. If we truly believe in our hearts in this gospel, then we come into relationship with him. You have to believe this gospel, no other will work, and spend time with him, go to him, and he will increase your faith in him as your Lord and saviour, and you will grow in freedom and love for christ and he becomes your all in all, not your works or anything else. It's all about him. You set your eyes and focus upon him, your goal is to know him. You belive that so long as you are in him, you are safe and nothing can seperate you from his love and atonement. You never rely on your works, because you know your works are nothing. Instead, your focus is on jesus, your faith in him which in turn means your relationship with him. It happens in this order: Relationship/faith - love - works You are not justified by your works. You are justified by your faith in him. In the gospel. In HIS righteousness and atonement for our sins. This enters you into a relationship with God. The more you go to him and trust him, and choose him in your life, the more faith you receive, the more you will love him over anything else, the more spirit filled you become, and the more good works you do as a result. People need faith in the gospel. The gospel is what brings you into relationship with God and transforms you. But you have to die to yourself by choosing him. Spend time with him, pray, read his word. What we need is faith. The stronger your faith in this gospel is, in Jesus being your all in all, the closer to God you are, the more spirit filled you are, the more love you have for Christ, and in turn the more love you have for others. This is exactly my personal experience, and I believe what the gospel says. The more I focus on me and my works, the more miserable, self focused, and distracted I become. The more I focus on relationship with him, as in, spending time with him and choosing him, in his presence, the more I am free because my faith is increased and my eyes on on jesus, on who he is and who I am in him already. I am then filled with his love, and I love him more in return, am filled with his holy spirit, and I love people more. Its the whole, putting the cart before ethe horse thing. Relationship with him produces good works. That's the by product. Its because your eyes are on him, you fully trust him, and love him for what he has done for you, ie saving you completely by his own doing, because he loved you first, and because you have more and more faith in who he says you are now in him, redeemed, forgiven, loved, saved, a child of God, by his own doing. Go to him, drop the things in your life that stop you from spending time with him. And in his holy presence, your relationship with him will blossom, and you will love him as you are filled with his love. Anyone can have good morals. Moralism is not what saves. There are many people that do "good works" and don't believe in christ. It is your faith in him/relationship with him that saves, and he will do great works through you.
Amen brother. Faith without works (obedience) is dead. Also, many people think baptism is a work. No it’s not. Baptism is obedience, it’s not a work of the law.
Good teaching brother Torben! I thought you were preaching the law until you clarified at 14:03. Thank you for clarifying. I agree completely with the scriptures about faith that produces obedience and good works.
tall32guy Well you can understand my confusion when you back up to 13:53. He has a hard time articulating what he believes and that is what brings confusion, not because a lack of understanding from scriptures on our part. I knew everything he was trying to explain but when you listen to comments like 13:53 (which he has said in other videos without retracting the statement like he did at 13:58) it gets confusing about what he truly believes. But FINALLY he clarified that he understood the scriptures in this video.
Amen! Faith in Christ = Obedience to Him! I just read this in John Chapter 6: "and this is the WORK of God, that you BELIEVE (obey) in Him Who He has sent!" I AGREE with what you are sharing! 😇
Wow! I love your teaching! Speaking truth in love and the love you have for Jesus can be seen in you dear brother! AND when you obey by doing Jesus Words, you show Him how much you love Him! Thank you for your teaching! God bless you so much!!!😊🙏🕊
I understand what your saying. Remember people English is not his first language. This is true. Faith alone is all that Jesus requires for salvation. True saving faith SHOWS itself through the good works that the Holy Spirit helps us to do (that’s what we are saved to do!).
I understand this teaching very well. I really do believe your faith in Christ will produce good fruit. Everything about you will want to serve God. You can’t only say you believe in Christ and live an ungodly life. I want to obey God with everything I have and live a life fully dedicated to my savior! I pray for the strength and the courage to do that in me and and my family! Thank you for this teaching. Have a blessed day.
Remember an old song including the words "trust and obey"? First we hear, then believe as an act of the mind through understanding. Once we understand, we decide with our will whether to act on what we have understood. We trust when we have decided to act in the affirmative in line with our decision to trust, and actually put action to our newly held belief. This can be true of sitting down on a new chair that we have been told is capable of supporting our weight. If you tell me to sit down, I will go ahead and sit if I believe in you- I decide to accept your words are true and I am willing to risk trusting you, and I choose to go ahead and sit down. Until I sit, I still don't truly commit to trusting you.
But Paul said himself he performs evil. He credits nothing in the flesh to salvation. Never add performance to salvation. It is spitting on the completed work of Jesus. Jesus did all the performance needed for us. We only need faith in what Jesus did. Romans 7:15-20 NIV I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
@@crossing3790 I don't quite see why you would bring this up in this context. Example was sit on chair if I believe it will hold my weight. Therefore, trust in Jesus if I truly believe He will hold my life..
Because an action us not necessary to prove trust or faith. .No action in the body and no performance can in any way qualify salvation. in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about--but not before God. What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." ... However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. Never add to the finished work of Jesus. Gods gift of salvation is earned by faith only. Any performance added are wages and earnings. Your performance after being born again is sanctification. God guarantees us justification and glorification (in future) but we decide to be sanctified by our performance by praying and studying etc. Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
At last, a gospel that can save!! Faith based obedience has always been God’s primary requirement for mankind. To suggest that it no longer matters for believers , is crazy. Those who confuse “the law” with obedience to God, could ponder Galatians. 5:16-25. “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law”. Like most of the “ifs” in the Bible, that is a big one.
yes! :) To believe also means to have a loving relationship with Jesus. By loving him you automatically want to please him. To love him you have to know who he is. Knowing him and being in relation to him is the key to spiritual fruits and acts of the faith
He is also the Wisdom of God. The WORD of God. That is the Wisdom we should acquire (AKA....JESUS HIMSELF).OBEDIENCE and FAITH is the same. Cannot go apart.
Great teaching ! Millions of protestants believe that works are the works in order to somehow earn salvation of the catholics. Not realizing that obedience is how we recieve the free gift of salvation. We aren't trying to " earn" anything but by obeying the plan of salvation given in Acts 2:38 we are recieving the free gift of salvation. In the original N.T. Greek the word " recieve" means " to take hold of".
This is called ' bait and switch ' to be justified by God is to simply believe the Gospel . To obey someone is to follow what they say . This is two separate things . To be saved ' believe ' . To walk the Christian walk , follow what Jesus said . If we just stopped at salvation , closed our bibles never to read , never to go to church ect we would still go to heaven, but it would be a painful time before we die and we would suffer confusion , chastisement from God and not reach many with the Gospel or teach the full counsel of God to others . There is joy to be had on earth working for the Lord and walking the walk .
@@TheLastReformation you have to know and trust something before you believe. 1 cor 15 describes what a person must believe ( the Gospel ) this includes who he is ( the right Jesus ) . The jailer ask " what must I DO to be saved " . The answer is simple. He knew what he had to believe and that was enough .
January this year I prayed in tongues for hours and studied the bible through out the night till the next day. I asked the Holy spirit to show me what It means to be thought by him. I received the same revelation with these same scriptures. Jesus even showed me this; It's like a man who lied his whole life dies and stands in front of Jesus and says "I believed It was a good thing to tell the truth and not lie". And than expecting the Lord to be impressed by his faith. That's how crazy It is to believe that you can have faith without works.
Right faith alone is dead anybody can put faith in anything and expect something to happen when reality It won’t plus while living in sin against god thank god for you for the teaching
I'm SO glad you explained this brother! I akways was confused about the works part! I always said, "what? I thought trying to do works to earn stuff was a bad thing." Lol. I got confused about WHAT kind of works those scriptures was referring to! And that scripture about "show me your faith without works" always confused me too! Lol
Faith always leads to work unless it leads us to obedience we didn’t believe!! Faith cannot be separated from work! If faith is separated from faith it’s like dead man in which flesh separated from soul!
'though being a Son, He learned obedience from the things He suffered, and having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all those obeying Him' Hebrews 5:8 "The one believing in the Son has eternal life, but the one not obeying the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.' John 3:36
Thank you for sharing. I would like to clarify something I feel was overlooked. Obedience to Christ comes through faith (Romans 1:5). It is a faith that grows through our relationship walk with Jesus, in which we learn to walk by faith (Romans 1:16,17) Romans 8:13 says "If you are living according to the flesh, you must die, but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live." This tells us that it is by the Spirit of God that we are being perfected in obedience. This doesn't happen at once. None of us are instantly made perfect in obedience. If we don't realize this, then our obedience becomes works based by our own efforts and not faith based by our growing realization in His love for us. Romans 1:17 says God's righteousness is revealed in our life from faith to faith. As our faith grows through our walk with Him, we grow in the obedience which comes through faith. The Bible makes clear that the obedience which comes through faith happens by realizing the unconditional love God Has for us in relationship to the Cross of Jesus, through which His redeeming love is revealed in us through faith and rebirth into the perfect love of God (2Thessalonians 3:5). This is made quite clear in 1John 4:7-19 which states that we are perfected in love through faith as we come to the realization of God's love for us. It says we love because God first loved us and revealed that love through the Cross of His Son Jesus, so that through faith in His love we could know we are loved and forgiven for our sins and we would walk in that love and forgive others, and come to fully realize the love of God and be transformed by it through His Spirit. None of us have perfect obedience. So none of us have perfect faith. It is a faith that grows in the love of love of God by His Spirit as we strive to walk by Faith and love in perfect obedience to His will. Love is expressed in action. All this is what James was referring to in His reference to faith without works is dead. Galatians 5:6 says faith works through love. Philippians 1:9-11 the fruit of righteousness comes through Jesus as we grow in love through our relationship with Jesus. Galatians 3:3,5 tells us that we are perfected though the Spirit of God's love. See also Romans 5:5. Galatians 5:14 goes on to say that "In order that the blessings of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Love and blessings.
I think that I can go along with most of that. As I grow older, I am increasingly aware of and thankful for God's mercy and patience. But I must question the "unconditional love" bit. Do we not continue to have free will, the freedom to choose whether we continue/return to "living according to the flesh ...and die". Or continue to cooperate with the Spirit, in "putting to death the deeds of the body" ...and live"? (Romans 8:13) To refer to God's love as being "unconditional" may be true in some sense. But if it means that "we cannot out sin God" as Charles Stanley puts it, it is surely a presumptuous lie? We overlook the "severity" of God at our peril. (Romans 11:19-22) If God's love were truly unconditional, all would be saved. (universalism) Which seems to be where the world including "the Church", is heading.
If you say you have faith in the direction your g.p.s is saying, and you drive in another direction, than you don't have faith in the path given to you, but your faith is in yourself instead.
Faith without works is dead. Show me a man's heart and I will show you his Faith. Praise Christ. I want to come work with you guys or least com to an event. Do you guys come to the south United states Ga.
They will tell you that you can be disobedient and carnal and that this has nothing to do with salvation. Proof text is 1.Cor.3:15 and 1.Cor. 5:5. Saved but like thru fire and the spirit might be saved and the flesh will be destroyed.
To believe is to rely on believe means trust in cling to and rely on that is a true meaning of faith so there is an action that is connected to your believing it's called obedience starting in your heart and then coming out in your actions to prove your repentance by your fruit... the Gospel of Jesus is to repent or perish get baptized trust him obey him and endure to the end...
If anyone has a problem with what Torben is teaching go and read Romans 1:5 , Romans 1:5 New Living Translation (NLT) 5 Through Christ, God has given us the privilege[a] and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. May I add suggesting that you read from several different translations so you can get a fuller understanding of what God’s word is saying.
There are two kinds of faith, the faith that even demons have (They know God is real and tremble) and faith that is living like a mustard seed planted in our heart, which causes us to want to love and obey God, and if you know God is real and rebel then your faith remained mental, and it did not take root in your in most being.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I’m so sick and tired hearing ‘christians’ spout off Calvinistic rhetoric, saying that if we do works for Christ out of obedience to His Word, that we are somehow debating the sacrifice on the cross. Too many ‘christians’ are saying that because we are saved by Jesus’ work on the cross, His grace....then we no longer need to do anything fir Him. They look at us (who are trying to walk in obedience through faith and actions (works) and say that our works can’t bring salvation....which is very true, They don’t understand that we aren’t acting out our faith through action to SAVE ourselves. We are doing these works out of obedience because we soo deeply desire to show our love to our Father!! 2 John 1:5-6 “And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. And AND THIS IS LOVE, THAT WE WALK AFTER HIS COMMANDMENTS. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.”
The best news l heard ln my life was the gospel of Jesus the Christ of the living God Almighty Creator, whom has been hear* for all Sinners* that believe in the good news from the written word of God(Holy Spirit) in him is No lies or deception, take up your Cross and follow Jesus and endure to the end and thou shalt be Saved,*!*¤*!!!Amen!!
Romans 1:5 Through him (Jesus Christ our Lord verse 4) we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the OBEDIENCE that comes from FAITH for his name’s sake. Romans 6:16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as OBEDIENT slaves, you are slaves of the one you OBEY - whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to OBEDIENCE, which leads to RIGHTEOUSNESS? I deduce that we are justified by our present, continuous, active, obedient faith. Thank you. Blessings.
A lot of people believe in God & that Jesus came to die to save us from sin and hell, however, they also know that they need to repent and trust Jesus for their Salvation. There are tons of people in the world who believe in Jesus, but they have not trusted him for their Salvation. True faith in Jesus is taking on the character of Jesus, your desire change. We have no desire to sin though sin in the flesh, when we recognize sin we confess them & repent the Holy Spirit will help us. We must daily abide in Christ. Walk in the Spirit and we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Gal 5)
Where the protestants missed it was that they saw obeying the gospel plan of salation a work.Even Martin Luther believed that a believer had to be water baptized in order to be saved. If we are saved because we believe in our heart that the Lord died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead, why repent? The Word says that God gives the Holy Spirit to those that ask.Would asking be a work?We must repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and then ask for the Holy Spirit. That's what the Bible says.Even satan believes in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord.Faith is a noun and believe is a verb according to the original Koine Greek of the New testament.Look it up.
Revelation 14:12 King James Version (KJV). 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 1 John 2:4 “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” Isaiah 2:3 “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” Isaiah 66:15 For behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his charets like a whirlewinde, to render his anger with furie, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For by fire and by his sword, will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slaine of the Lord shalbe many. 17 They that sanctifie themselues, and purifie themselues in the gardens, behinde one tree in the midst, eating swines flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.
Martin Luther is sitting in his apartment in Heaven. He thinks by himself: I made mistake building church just on faith, but why my followers do the some, they should be more wise then me!
I looked this video up after watching a Facebook post you made today on this subject. I agree with this whole video. I will say though that you may need to make yourself just a little bit more clear about this issue before you make those kind of blunt statements. A lot of people don't really know what you mean most of the time. Understand, like you said yourself, that Satan has changed what things mean to us over time. Most people don't understand these terms and biblical concepts today the same way that people, especially Jews, understood them in the 1st century. It's good to catch up and elaborate on these things first so that no needless controversy and debate is stirred up simply due to lack of knowledge and understanding that people have on these things. Remember that when Peter said, "Repent and be baptized..." the Jews listening knew EXACTLY what he meant, and the weight of it, and realized the significance of Jesus dying and raising again in reference to those things. Today you probably should explain that to people. Bring people up to where you are. Met them where they are like God does for each of us.

Gotte Liebes in uns ist das ewige Leben: Christ in us the Hope of Glory!
Es geht nicht um Kadaver-Gehorsam! Die Ehrfurcht vor Gott/unser Glaube wird gute Früchte bringen! Die guten Werke/Früchte beginnen immer in uns und haben zu 100% auch Auswirkungen nach außen! It's not about cadaver obedience! The reverence for God / our faith will bring good fruit! The good works / fruits always start in us and have 100% impact on the outside!
Because as He said believing is a lifestyle, is living according to how God created things to be done and as we know Satan did something very wrong when he desobeyed God, so He believes but did not love God. Loving God is obeying God which is used often in scriptures as Believing in Christ.
That's not what James is saying in this much-disputed chapter. The word translated "save" (sozo) in James 2:14 has many more meanings than simply the meaning we usually ascribe to the English word "save" (in the Christian context) - that is, to save from Eternal damnation. When Peter was walking on the water and then fell in, he said, "Lord, save me!" (same word). He was not asking for Eternal Life, now was he? Likewise, _James himself says later in this very same Book, " "And the Prayer of Faith shall save the sick" (James 5:15). James was not saying that such a Prayer will spare a sick person from Eternal damnation! There are quite a few different meanings to that one Greek word and its derivatives; it by no stretch of the imagination is always referring to Eternal Salvation!!! Here, in James 2, the author is speaking of rewards before the Judgment Seat of Christ! This is made plain when you read it carefully and in context. Back up a bit, and let's look at, say, James 1:12: "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." (James 1:12) Well, when will that happen? AT THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST! He actually directly references this judgment of rewards ONLY A COUPLE VERSES BEFORE the verse which has generated such controversy! Read 2:12: "So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty." This is RIGHT IMMEDIATELY BEFORE he says, "What doth it *PROFIT*, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works?" (2:14) Note my emphasis on that word: PROFIT! "Profit" is something one gets FROM THEIR WORKS! Salvation, on the other hand, is NOT OF WORKS! Eternal Life is NOT something we receive as profit - that is, the result of our works. However, REWARDS ARE! The entire Book of James is James trying to exhort Believers - WHO ARE SAVED WHOLLY AND ENTIRELY BY FAITH - BY SIMPLY TRUSTING JESUS AND TAKING HIM AT HIS WORD THAT "WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH ON [HIM] SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE!" ...And THAT is why I am grieved by the way you're interpreting this passage; whether you would like to admit it or not, you ARE making Salvation a matter of human effort, by re-stating the same old poisonous trope that is so ubiquitous in Christendom today: The "if you're REALLY Saved, then you'll have good works to show for it" trope. You can try to deny that this is Salvation by works, but it *IS*. The proof of Salvation is not gleaned by looking at ourselves and what we do, but by Jesus Christ and what HE did, and the Promises HE made! Certainly, those of us who are Saved should then do those good works which were prepared for us in advance, that we should walk in them. But that is a FAR cry from saying, "if you are "really" Saved, you will walk in them"!!! There is no shortage of people within the pale of Christendom paying lip service to Salvation by Grace Alone, through Faith alone - but all too often, it's just simply that: lip service. To say, "I believe that we are Saved by Faith alone, BUT..." is to NOT believe Jesus and what He promised! It is, in short, to actually be an unbeliever! I beg you to look into what I am saying.
Here is an example for the people who think faith is enough, no works. Imagine you see a car that is good for throwing away.If someone BELIEVES it can drive again he/she will try to fix the car and when its fixed the person will gladly show his/her WORKS by fixing that car. It's the same if you BELIEVE in Jesus Christ, you will show the others that you BELIEVE in Christ by works, and not faith alone! Come on!The bible tells exactly what we need to do, its like reading a recept with the ingredients you need for making a dish.
John 14:15 - “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 1 John 2:3-6 - 3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. The bible is clear that obedience is required. Both Jesus' own words, and John's epistle. Many calvinists will argue that it's faith alone and we do nothing at all. Can't do anything unless God regenerates them first, etc. I'm sorry friends, Calvinism is philosophy overlaid on the bible. Colossians 2:8 - Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. So many have been lead astray by this faith alone movement. They attack any obedience to Christ as "works." They're mislead.
This is works salvation. Believe means to be persuaded of and to accept something as truth. Do you believe that you are a sinner and that Christ died for your sins and rose again from the dead? Do you believe God when he says that he so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life? Believing on Jesus Christ as our savior was likened to Israel looking upon a serpant staff that moses had made. They looked and were healed of their snake bites. They didnt do anything else but look. We see Jesus Christ was punished for our sins, rose from the dead and that he promises eternal life and forgiveness of sins to whoever trusts him / puts their faith in him as their savior. To understand James we have to understand that not every time we see the word "saved" use is it a referance to being saved from the lake of fire. There is temporal earthly judgement that we can experience and this is what James is refering to in previous verses in James 2 talking about how we will be judged by the law of liberty. Can your faith save you from temporal judgement when you are having respect of persons and not giving help to your brother who is in need? No. Can your faith in Christ save you from the lake of fire even if you arent living right on earth? Yes. and thats why Jesus died. To Save people. This is teaching that in order to be saved that its not enough to simply believe in Jesus as out savior but we also need to keep the law of moses, which happens to be, love God and love your neighbor. If we could do that perfectly than Jesus wouldnt have had to die. Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. I hope this makes sense. Dont try to attain your own righteousness before God. He wont accept anything except for Christs perfect righteousness which he gives as a GIFT to anybody that believes in him as their savior. God bless. I hope this helps somebody.
Please start to listen to god and not longer to the false gospel, that is preached everywhere! It is no works salvation, when you believe and the believing will bring fruits. Its not faith, when the faith will not bring fruits. Fruits can be works in your heart and works, that you do. But there will be fruit! Otherwise the faith is dead. And obidience to Jesus and his words is the best sign of faith!
99% of people who always warn about the danger of work salvation do so to distract attention from their love of sin. These people want Jesus as Savior. But they do not want him as master! Only through Jesus is grace. But without obedience there is no salvation.
In James is he not talking about being justied by people. Here he talks about being justified of God. But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness. 6 So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; 8 blessed is the one against whom the Lord will never count sin.” 9 Is this blessedness then for the circumcision or also for the uncircumcision? For we say, “faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.” 10 How then was it credited to him? Was he circumcised at the time, or not? No, he was not circumcised but uncircumcised! So before Isaac and before he was curcumcised.
Why build a teaching completely on James's letter? It was written to the jews and not to the gentiles. Paul's gospel is our guideline and he wrote much more about faith alone than James wrote about works. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" Ephesians 2:8-9 Repentance and obedience are two often misused words. We are not able to obey God perfectly and God's demand is perfection. So this teaching is disguised legalism. "For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous" Romans 5:19 We are saved by grace alone. Through faith. Because of Jesus's obedience!
It is not faith, it is fake! Faith and works goes hand in hand, two legs in obedience makes step by step, one leg is faith, the other one is works. Don't make war between them, in obedience go/walk boldly in Jesus name Amen!
Romans 6:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. King James Version (KJV)
@@TheLastReformation saving faith is an event at the point we trust Christ as our savior. The Holy Ghost baptizes is into the body is Christ. The rest is serving faith. Has the Holy Ghost ever removed anyone from the body of Christ?
It is not the law of Moses, it is the law given directly from God himself, he has written the law with his finger. If we want to obey Jesus, we also need to obey his law, otherwise, how would we know what it means to love God and our neighbor as ourselves? I'm tired of all this false theology about the law. The law itself can not justify us, but the commandments are still valid today.
ever since I became born again this year, it is my HONOR to obey God!! It blows my mind those who "believe" but do not take it seriously. Lord, help me believe and obey more!!!! please!!!!
Faith and obedience are undividable!!
Exactly right and exactly the way to understand the BIBLE FAITH that PLEASES the LORD JESUS CHRIST! 🎯💯 God bless you Torben!
This is correct, without works of obedience we show we are rebellious in heart, and have not truly repented from sin.
Amen! How can unbelievers believe that God is good if us, His followers, don't actually show to them what we believe?
Good point!
And to be honest, how can they believe that God is holy and righteous when the moral quality of our lives is no better or worse than theirs?
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”
Ephesians 1:13 KJV
Faith is an action word....no obedience no faith.
@@genrev347 Amen. Obedience is a fruit of faith. We believe, repent and obey His word.
caseman caseman
Christ alone IS our righteousness. The law was to show us our sin.
“What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.”
Romans 7:7 KJV
“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:20 KJV
“Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:”
Romans 3:22 KJV
Too many scriptures to show but you can read that WHOLE book of romans and not take scripture out of contex as many do, understanding the WHOLE counsel of God.
“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews o
r Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV
“One Lord, one faith, one baptism,”
Ephesians 4:5 KJV
There are people like myself who’ve been baptized more than once in re-dedicating my life to Christ.
It happens in this order:
Relationship/faith - love - works
You are not justified by your works.
@@zackmack7044 Amen Brother couldn't have said it better. Love you, more grace and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ!
Thank you Torben for this simple yet truthful message..
yes yes yes! this is confirmation to what God's been showing me
Amen brother. Faith without works (obedience) is dead. Also, many people think baptism is a work. No it’s not. Baptism is obedience, it’s not a work of the law.
Thank you. Essential teaching for the Body of Christ. Amen!
Good teaching brother Torben! I thought you were preaching the law until you clarified at 14:03. Thank you for clarifying. I agree completely with the scriptures about faith that produces obedience and good works.
That confusion right there is the reason that people get confused about all this and the reason torben had to make the video.
tall32guy Well you can understand my confusion when you back up to 13:53.
Thank you my brother in Christ, for this message... Listening from India..
Amen! Faith in Christ = Obedience to Him!
I just read this in John Chapter 6: "and this is the WORK of God, that you BELIEVE (obey) in Him Who He has sent!"
I AGREE with what you are sharing! 😇
Wow! I love your teaching! Speaking truth in love and the love you have for Jesus can be seen in you dear brother! AND when you obey by doing Jesus Words, you show Him how much you love Him! Thank you for your teaching! God bless you so much!!!😊🙏🕊
Amen! Obedience is key to carry out a life as a believer in Christ. #HolyWord
I understand what your saying. Remember people English is not his first language. This is true. Faith alone is all that Jesus requires for salvation. True saving faith SHOWS itself through the good works that the Holy Spirit helps us to do (that’s what we are saved to do!).
saving faith always produces action
I understand this teaching very well. I really do believe your faith in Christ will produce good fruit. Everything about you will want to serve God. You can’t only say you believe in Christ and live an ungodly life. I want to obey God with everything I have and live a life fully dedicated to my savior! I pray for the strength and the courage to do that in me and and my family! Thank you for this teaching. Have a blessed day.
Janet Mata amen. I think people really want to hold on to their sin instead of giving it to Jesus.
@Joochoob 😊
But Paul said himself he performs evil. He credits nothing in the flesh to salvation. Never add performance to salvation. It is spitting on the completed work of Jesus. Jesus did all the performance needed for us. We only need faith in what Jesus did.
Romans 7:15-20 NIV
I do not understand what I do.
Rom 8:30
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Amen! Isaac dug many wells during a drought and famine and got water! Holy Spirit flows when we believe and our walk reveals we believe.
Prise God and bless you men of God.
Like most of the “ifs” in the Bible, that is a big one.
yes! :)
To believe also means to have a loving relationship with Jesus.
Only believe? Not repent?
Can you believe whiteout anyone knows it?
@@TheLastReformation you have to know and trust something before you believe. 1 cor 15 describes what a person must believe ( the Gospel ) this includes who he is ( the right Jesus ) . The jailer ask " what must I DO to be saved " . The answer is simple. He knew what he had to believe and that was enough .
Torben we love you!!!!!!
Sooo nice of you sir to reveal this. James (the book) is very much about obedience to YHWH. That obedience does complete faith.
Endlich wird es Mal aufgedeckt.
100% truth. Very well explained Torbin.
Praise God, faith = obedience!

it is so true, what u believe is what u will do. if you believe God u will do what he says.
Right faith alone is dead anybody can put faith in anything and expect something to happen when reality It won’t plus while living in sin against god thank god for you for the teaching
Another place where faith and belief is used interchangably even more clearly is John 3,36
This is a great teaching!! Thanks Torben.
Lol

Amen brother
Faith always leads to work unless it leads us to obedience we didn’t believe!! Faith cannot be separated from work! If faith is separated from faith it’s like dead man in which flesh separated from soul!
Very good!
This is good teaching brother!
'though being a Son, He learned obedience from the things He suffered, and having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all those obeying Him' Hebrews 5:8
"The one believing in the Son has eternal life, but the one not obeying the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.' John 3:36
Thank you for sharing. I would like to clarify something I feel was overlooked. Obedience
to Christ comes through faith (Romans 1:5). It is a faith that grows through our relationship
walk with Jesus, in which we learn to walk by faith (Romans 1:16,17) Romans 8:13 says
"If you are living according to the flesh, you must die, but if by the Spirit you are putting to
death the deeds of the body, you will live." This tells us that it is by the Spirit of God
that we are being perfected in obedience. This doesn't happen at once. None of us are instantly
made perfect in obedience. If we don't realize this, then our obedience becomes works based by
our own efforts and not faith based by our growing realization in His love for us. Romans 1:17
says God's righteousness is revealed in our life from faith to faith. As our faith grows through our
walk with Him, we grow in the obedience which comes through faith. The Bible makes clear that
the obedience which comes through faith happens by realizing the unconditional love God Has for
us in relationship to the Cross of Jesus, through which His redeeming love is revealed in us through
faith and rebirth into the perfect love of God (2Thessalonians 3:5). This is made quite clear in
1John 4:7-19 which states that we are perfected in love through faith as we come to the realization
of God's love for us. It says we love because God first loved us and revealed that love through the
Cross of His Son Jesus, so that through faith in His love we could know we are loved and forgiven
for our sins and we would walk in that love and forgive others, and come to fully realize the love of
God and be transformed by it through His Spirit. None of us have perfect obedience. So none of us
have perfect faith. It is a faith that grows in the love of love of God by His Spirit as we strive to walk
by Faith and love in perfect obedience to His will. Love is expressed in action. All this is what James
was referring to in His reference to faith without works is dead. Galatians 5:6 says faith works through
love. Philippians 1:9-11 the fruit of righteousness comes through Jesus as we grow in love through our relationship with Jesus. Galatians 3:3,5 tells us that we are perfected though the Spirit of God's love.
See also Romans 5:5. Galatians 5:14 goes on to say that "In order that the blessings of Abraham
might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."
Love and blessings.
There's no faith alone and OSAS in the bible.

2 John 1:5-6
“And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. And AND THIS IS LOVE, THAT WE WALK AFTER HIS COMMANDMENTS. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.”

Here is the best definition, Faith is Jesus in you.
Follow him
What is the proof that you believe and obey the teachings of Jesus.
Good question. Only God can see our heart. The pharisees on the outside produced good works but their hearts weren't for the Lord.
1 John 2:4 “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
Isaiah 2:3 “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
Isaiah 66:15 For behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his charets like a whirlewinde, to render his anger with furie, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
He thinks by himself: I made mistake building church just on faith, but why my followers do the some, they should be
more wise then me!
Faith is an action word. Believing is living on it.There is no such thing as faith alone for salvation.
I'd love to see you meet with John MacArthur. Wonder what his take would be and if he is filled with the Holy Spirit.
Truly Spirit filled people can't call it work though,it feels so much a privilege to speak His word

True.
Ich verstehe es viele Gemeinde sagen nur aus Gnade usw. Aber Gott meint damit zu Glauben und Gehorsam.
i don't real understand because in the bible it says the devil belives in god but that doesn't mean his going to haven
Likewise, _James himself says later in this very same Book, "
"And the Prayer of Faith shall save the sick" (James 5:15).
Back up a bit, and let's look at, say, James 1:12:
"Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." (James 1:12)
Well, when will that happen? AT THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST!
He actually directly references this judgment of rewards ONLY A COUPLE VERSES BEFORE the verse which has generated such controversy! Read 2:12:
"So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty."
This is RIGHT IMMEDIATELY BEFORE he says, "What doth it *PROFIT*, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works?" (2:14)
Note my emphasis on that word: PROFIT! "Profit" is something one gets FROM THEIR WORKS! Salvation, on the other hand, is NOT OF WORKS! Eternal Life is NOT something we receive as profit - that is, the result of our works. However, REWARDS ARE!
The entire Book of James is James trying to exhort Believers - WHO ARE SAVED WHOLLY AND ENTIRELY BY FAITH - BY SIMPLY TRUSTING JESUS AND TAKING HIM AT HIS WORD THAT "WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH ON [HIM] SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE!"
...And THAT is why I am grieved by the way you're interpreting this passage; whether you would like to admit it or not, you ARE making Salvation a matter of human effort, by re-stating the same old poisonous trope that is so ubiquitous in Christendom today: The "if you're REALLY Saved, then you'll have good works to show for it" trope.
Your heart is at the wrong place
@@msimurin Please explain yourself.Where is your heart?
totally agreement except: being a catholic the church is not additional to faith but the expression of faith
Or show your faith but your ACTIONS.
Well said
There is someone else who believes what I do ?
I wish a pastor sees this
In James is he not talking about being justied by people.
Here he talks about being justified of God.
But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness.
6 So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;
8 blessed is the one against whom the Lord will never count sin.”
9 Is this blessedness then for the circumcision or also for the uncircumcision? For we say, “faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.” 10 How then was it credited to him? Was he circumcised at the time, or not? No, he was not circumcised but uncircumcised!
So before Isaac and before he was curcumcised.
Why build a teaching completely on James's letter? It was written to the jews and not to the gentiles. Paul's gospel is our guideline and he wrote much more about faith alone than James wrote about works.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast"
Ephesians 2:8-9
Repentance and obedience are two often misused words. We are not able to obey God perfectly and God's demand is perfection. So this teaching is disguised legalism.
"For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous" Romans 5:19
We are saved by grace alone. Through faith. Because of Jesus's obedience!
No the White Bible. The same gospel that Paul, James and Jesus came with.
@@TheLastReformation white bible?
It is not faith, it is fake! Faith and works goes hand in hand, two legs in obedience makes step by step, one leg is faith, the other one is works. Don't make war between them, in obedience go/walk boldly in Jesus name Amen!
Romans 6:14 King James Version (KJV)
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
King James Version (KJV)
You are saying salvation is a process?
In the Bible is salvation always in past, present and future.....
