That seems a bit much, when I wear a headset and if I'm moving in and out the speaker's range, stick my phone in a pocket. I have bunch of old phones if I'm afraid of damaging mine. I had a Bosch jobsite radio that I never used. Why so big? A USB-A port isn't an issue. There is no high-speed data going on here. USB-A to USB-C cords are everywhere. They're still the norm. 'C' to 'C' is much less common except, perhaps, with the cult of Apple. Only then because Apple was so late to the party. The cult finally went kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
Nevermind the USB-A vs USB-C charging port debate... when are these tool companies that make & sell jobsite radios gonna add either a data-capable USB port that can handle a thumb drive with MP3s on it, or an SD or Micro SD port for the same purpose? It would cost them mere pennies to add, and you could put your entire personal music collection on a $15 storage device, and take it with you anywhere the radio is. It's an incredibly stupid lost opportunity.
@@kwilliams2239 I don't know of a single jobsite radio that supports MP3 playing from its USB port. They're all just for supplying power for charging a device (such as a phone). My two biggest complaints are it cant charge the battery while plugged in and it cant be put mid stack in a link stack setup. Like milwaukee has made a point of making every packout module have a top that can be stacked. For 199 it should have both of those as options. Another small gripe is theres no spot to clamp on the smaller speakers for transport, just a little cutout on the side opposite the handle so you could hang 2 speakers would be great. Being able to charge batteries off this would allow you to charge the clamp speaker batteries with this
$199 is alot for her. The inability to charge batteries, no A.M., mediocre sound quality, no rubber plug for the U.S.B. input/ C-port. Looks like she should be a $99 special buy.

I think you’re right on this one, it’s OK but it could’ve done better. Having the charging plug right where your battery is it’s kind of an issue, they should’ve had a charger on there and there’s clearly a lot of room inside that case. They could’ve had a wireless charger on top for your phone, maybe a little sleeve to slide it in to hold it down while you’re traveling around and like you said the USBc port Come up, but I think they should’ve integrated battery charger with it, I was expecting the top to open up and have storage or something inside because I can’t imagine that whole box is full of electronic components. O_o
I've got the older boombox and I like it. It has a space under the handle for your phone, although the Galaxy phones are too big to fit neatly. The link compatibility is cool, but nothing that would get me to switch.
Im looking for Ryobi to fix that HP reciprocating saw arbor problem, breaking off the shaft, that a lot of ppl have. Is it safe to buy one now or wait for an eventual update? I already have the previous version 1 of the HP line, but that has smoked a few times and seems to always be in oscillation mode, even if the dial is turned to straight.
Can you connect 2 of these together? I know you can connect a bunch of the small ones but 2 of these would be great. I work in a shop, a very loud one at that so one of these on either side of my area would be perfect. Also, how does it compare to the similar dewalt radio in volume?

Ryobi has to come up with 18v 6 port Simultaneous fast charger… I made 2 sets of 6 chargers work really good for emergency and camping stuff but bulky to carry around
I have their P746 radio and like it well enough, besides that it has an annoying issue that it has some sort of built in digital noise filter to get rid of static on the FM radio, which effectively also dampens treble a LOT. I compensated by adding a couple of tiny automotive tweeters (it originally only had two drivers, no tweeters). Anyway, when I originally bought it, normally it went for about $80 but I got it at half price and was happy at $40, but wouldn't pay $80 for a jobsite radio. This one you show, even if a little fancier, is just too expensive by far, as well as too large. I think bass is pretty pointless for a jobsite anyway because all too often, the area you are in, isn't going to contain the bass so it just floats off into space instead of being very audible, and bass wastes a lot of battery power in that case. The main thing I'd change about mine, and I am still considering doing it, is that the amp stage in it is very old school using linear class A/B ICs, when it might be nearly 50% more efficient if I cut them out of the circuit and threw in a little class D amp module to replace them, and it would have higher output power at 18V as well. I haven't bothered doing that yet, because at reasonable /middling volume level, it still manages to play for several hours off a 4Ah battery, as well as having a transformer built in so I can plug an extension cord in and run it batteryless. Frankly I think I might rather have my older P746 than yours, but it is slick how yours mounts on their storage stack.
