Yeah you don’t need a light to test it. If you can see everything on the network by looking at the node it’s OK, if not there’s a break. Just track back to where you could last see everything to find where the break occurred. In fact it can be misleading to test with a light if your power is borderline because the light may not come on even though the connection is good.
You realise that you can check the integrity of the cable run using the electricity tool at a node with 'R'?
