My mother always saved the bacon grease from the bacon and it went into either a stainless steel can, or a jar that either sat on the counter or on the stove. She used it for everything. There was no way that bacon grease was going to go rancid. My mother lived through the depression, when she was a child and her mother taught her how to cook. My mother was a wonderful cook.❤

I eat more bacon now that I follow Dr. Berry and eggs. No longer take blood pressure medication. I am healthier now at 72 than I was at 50. I am single, so I usually bake the whole package in the oven and I drain the grease into a container and I use that for the eggs or other dishes. Yum! I will bacon and I love eggs!!!! I need to lose a lot of weight as fast as I can get it off my body. I had an injury on a delivery and ended up having a small tear in my meniscus, had surgery but I had been hurt a little bit a few weeks before I got help for this issue which causes my legs to become weak because I was on a walker and in a wheelchair. Then I was three weeks post-op before I saw the doctor and he ordered physical therapy. The thing I find the most difficult is carrying around another person them on my back. I have come to the point where I understand that this isn't about my injury anymore it is about my excess weight. My life is not fun and I have got to find a tool that works for me to get the weight off. I've heard so much about keto and carnivore and low carb but it's so strange to me to think that I could lose weight eating bacon and burgers high-fat things.

If you are going to save your bacon grease it’s easiest to collect it while it’s hot. I use a small metal strainer over a paper towel to filter the hot oil into a mug. This gets the crumbs and particles out and this makes the grease last longer and smell less like bacon. Then I pour the filtered oil into a glass jar before it cools. You do lose some through absorption into the paper towel but most of it does pass through.

Eat it all the time along with the nitrite laden grease and you can actually kill off the beneficial bacteria in your gut. The bacteria that not only helps you metabolize vitamins and nutrients but also the bacteria that helps protect your gut from cancer.

    Buy bacon ends and pieces.
It’s just on the odd corners and angles they cut off from normal bacon to make it look pretty. It’s literally just bacon if you randomly chopped it up into 1-2 inch pieces.
Winco near me has a 2lb package for $4.28. $2.14/lb for bacon-great price in California lol.
Don’t always go for the bulk packages though, as the 3lb bag right next to it was $9.98. Still just basically $3.33/lb.
Also, if the smell of bacon grease bothers you or anyone in your household, get a jar that’s meant to hold weed. Those things are good at keeping smell in if you’re willing to pay more than $15. Usually durable too, if you get the right ones. Hand-eye coordination is not the best while stoned, so knocking stuff over is not that uncommon

Been saving bacon grease since I can remember. My Mom and Grandmother all saved it and so do I. I'm now 70 and all my relatives grew up on a farm eating about 2# bacon, couple # potatoes, couple dozen eggs and fresh made bread and donuts. 6 boys and 2 girls. All passed now but 1 aunt. Most lived to 80+. My Mom was 100 years,72 days. 😁

When we need bacon, I buy a boned shoulder roast. If I can find one, a picnic ham and bone it myself. Cut it, rub in cure, and it goes in the fridge for 3 days, turning once or twice a day. When it's done, it gets soaked for a few hours in cold water to remove much of the salt. Then, when weather is dry, like now (Arizona) I rub liquid smoke over it, put it in plastic food bags in the fridge and turn once a day for 3 days. That's called cottage bacon.
