Hey Z its Avapire, the one who enticed you to try the different brick. The brick you have that came with your unit is way different to the one provided with my 3XR. Thankyou for still trying it though. You saved a lot of people the curiosity.
"The GT uses three V6 Vivid opamps per channel" They pretty much all come with the vivids as stock. I do prefer the V6 Classic. Kind of like a tube-type of sound albeit a little less transparent. However they are very expensive and I cannot recommend them only because of the price.
If you had a heart attack and the EMTs rush in, uncoiling the wires for the defibrillator paddles, would you reach out with trembling hands, grip the medics shirt collar, stare into his face, and with your dying breath say, "those cable are way to fucking janky"?
Upgrade the burson v6 op amps to some sparkos pros/sonic imagery labs and you'll reap a very nice performance boost. The v6 isn't the most transparent.
Look at the spec sheet of those op amps, they're very high performing, very low noise but cost like 150 dollars each. Discrete op amps are the reason why everyone prefers the worse measuring A90d to the A90 but it wasn't until recent people would say no difference. At the end of the day there's many amps that cost more than 3k, performance is relative, value is subjective.
I want to know what that Burson op amp (or any of the ones they sell) sound like in something op-amped but much cheaper like the Geshelli Archel. Burson, but cheaper and wooden? Might be a cool video. Also just wanted to comment to feed the algorithm
Oh, to be clear, I really really like the sound and the questioning of worth it for headphone use only vs. 3XP is more a statement to how awesome the 3XP is. Burson make some very nice sounding gear.
I just want to point out that the advertised specs shows the disparity between a chinese company and a reputable one like Burson. The Soloist 3xp was advertised at 8w@16ohm, but puts out about four times that much (around 15.5w@32ohm). The A90d comes in around 6w@32ohm. And for reference, the LA90 comes out to around 9w@32ohm.
@@thierryfaquet7405 it seems burson power specs were based on medium gain, where high gain is roughly 4x more powerful. The GT is even more powerful, almost 2x at higher impedance. The soloist 3xp measures horribly, like 60-80db sinad and z would probably say it sounds the same or better than the a90.
@@RyuMasterEX I'm just here for the entertainment. I don't give a fuck about what Z shills for a few years now. The first few seconds where "The A90D is a little sterile" were already hilarious when it supposed to be the second coming of audio christ by his own video... The next thing will always be the best for like 99% of audio youtubers. They have bills to pay, food to buy and need to make money.
Was really looking forward to this review... Bummer you lost the initial video, I really would have love the additional detail. I remember your review of the soloist 3XP, and amp I owned and really liked. I have upgraded to the GT and use it as a preamp with a pair of Benchmarks in monoblock config and really love the sound. As a headphone amp, to be honest, not sure I'd be pleased with the upgrade given cost step up, but the additional inputs and sub out really nice for preamp duty. If ever you can revisit and check preamp use and compare to 3XP it would be nice but I suspect too much in the queue ;-) Thanks for all the entertaining videos, I really enjoy them.
I use 2.5mm it fits my portable amp also (Qudelix 5k, with Thie Audio Legacy 3) . I have S.M.S.L SP200 which isn't really balanced for my desk. Presonus Eris E5 with FIIO DAC feeding it. My Presonus are hooked up XLR. I also got a subwoofer B.I.C. V1220 12 inch and a 8 inch Klipsch subwoofer. Both subs have been changed to run on external amp.
As a man who does this for a living. What you need isn't a "high end" headphone, you need an "Amp Dependent" headphones. Something that sounds different on amps .. Just different. HD600, NDH20, KPH40, Some of the Mr Speakers units need a warm and fun amp to sound their best but I trust what I trust.
A headphone amp with a sub out? Just no, lol. Great vid as usual, I always learn and laugh. Especially impressive that you're still hilarious even after suffering a massive data loss. I think I'd just be walking around cursing and breaking things.
It actually makes a ton of sense... if you listen to a Raal SR1A or Mysphere 3.1 / 3.2 through the soloist you will appreciate the bass impact that is missing from those ear speakers.

I've also done returns with Apos no questions asked. Apos(California) and Shenzhenaudio(China) which is where I bought the R26 offer a 2 years warranty on everything they sell. tbh... Percentage of improvement is not really a feasible metric. If we are talking about measurements , then the line of about $300 / unit is where you start grasping at 5%-10% "better" numbers going up to gear worth $20,000. The things that blow you away are also not a matter of money but design qualifications. Class A vs AB, DSP corrections, Power overhead, Tube pre's. Man I miss the old setup. It felt like home. It's tough watching an entire room in motion constantly from the GoPro angle. Let's setup a godfundme to have a wall made at the edge of the desk instead of the wall of speakers spinning in the background.
