While Chinese companies are at the beck and call of the Chinese government, I would not be surprised if there are not some secret agreements between the US government and US tech companies that the latter would provide some services or technology for defence of US interests. While UK firms have a position in some technologies, I would have thought that UK companies alone cannot provide what the UK agencies might want and that they rely on the goodwill of the US to have access to US technology and that as long as we are a loyal and obedient ally that will be the case.

The unstated premise is that China is really interested in what is happening in the UK at a time we are not a major power. Is it not more likely that Chinese efforts are aimed at stealing technology from the US and that the tech race is really a two horse race between China and the US with other countries only at play in niche areas. While Chinese companies are at the beck and call of the Chinese government, I would not be surprised if there are not some secret agreements between the US government and US tech companies that the latter would provide some services or technology for defence of US interests. While UK firms have a position in some technologies, I would have thought that UK companies alone cannot provide what the UK agencies might want and that they rely on the goodwill of the US to have access to US technology and that as long as we are a loyal and obedient ally that will be the case.
