- In this video I practice my long exposure photography at Vestahorn in Iceland. I have been coming to this location for photography for many years, but have yet to come away with the image I wanted. Part of that is because I have been heavily influenced by the work of others and it seems that I never have the conditions I need to get that perfect photo. On this occasion things started slowly. The light was flat and once again I was left feeling a little short changed, however after a few hours things started to change and we were gifted a vibrant, beautiful sunrise and I chose to do a long exposure in order to create an abstract version of an iconic mountain.

Wow, incredible conditions Thomas! Perseverance pays off, I am happy you eventually got the conditions you were hoping for. The spectacular lenticular clouds the other day and now that amazing sunrise. Just perfect!
Thomas i've been watching your channel for 2 years now i think and you are maybe the only one photographer that inspired me to change my way of thinking in my photography when it comes to landscape. Even though i am not able to come all the way from Greece to UK for a workshop with you i believe is good for you to know that even with youtube you turned a simple photographer to a more advanced one just by sharing your way of thinking and your technique .. Just to imagine i was afraid to shot 1:1 cause i knew the difficulty of composition in square frame but now 1:1 is the only frame i shot every single day..

I LOVE this image! I LOVE shooting "silhouettes" in this kind of lighting. I don't often get these conditions (at least not when I happen to be out shooting lol), but when I do - ah man, it's like Christmas. :) It's so lovely, and I'm so stoked that you were finally able to get the shot, even if it wasn't the whole range.

Ooh I'm just back from iceland myself, stayed at that exact campsite too. Iceland for me was frustrating too, weather wasn't kind. But my god what a country. Can't wait to return.

@@molopez619 it's a photographers dream and worst nightmare at the same time. The amazing subject is always there but the light can frustrate or excite you. One thing is for sure, you'll want to visit it again and again.

Great image! It has been fun watching your Iceland videos, as I was there the following week with my wife and some friends. This one in particular had many familiar sights. I stayed at that same campground in Höfn on July 3rd. Then the road shot immediately after the campground scene is, I'm fairly certain, the exact spot where my wife and I pulled over to photograph and interact with a beautiful group of ponies. Iceland exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to go back 😊
