Eso que parece papa nosotros le llamamos chuño ( es papa pero guardada en sitios donde el frío es tremendo, la papa se deshidrata por lo menos 3 meses a más ( pierden la humedad y se secan volviéndose blancos el interior ) y luego se utilizan como acompañante de las comidas tanto para las sopas como para los guisos .

Another great video! The coca leafs part brought back memories of my childhood spent in the country side of Peru, seeing my grandfather chewing coca leafs while harvesting is still in my memory many years after. I liked how Kevin tried the coca leafs without a hesitation. Most people are afraid to do it because they think it is a drug when is NOT. In the Andes Region, the coca leaf is mostly used as a medicinal herb, but of course there's people that use it for other purposes that are illegal which causes the wrong concept of it.
I'm not afraid of coca because I thought it was a drug but I don't like chewing any kind of fresh leaves or flowers :D I'm fine with the tea though! :D

Esa Papa blanca se llama "Moraya" es una variante del Chuño, la moraya es una técnica de deshidratación de las partes altas del Perú la región Altiplánica es el principal productor de moraya del Peru.

The coca leaf is good against the cold, high seasickness and is a great energy recharger, but it causes a little paralysis of the tongue in beginners. The potato that they tried in the soup is called chuño and it is a dehydrated potato, it is widely consumed because it can be stored for years without deteriorating.

@@omomohoho Puno is located in Lake Titikaka bay, this is the highest lake in the world (3810 meters over the sea level). You can find places like "Chullpas de Sillustani" and "The UROS Islands". February is the best month for coming cuz it take place The Candelaria's Festivity. Puno has more than 300 dances and is known as the Capital of Peruvian Folklore. About food, the best way to know our dishes is going to local markets, the main dishes are: Thimpo de Karachi, Thimpo de Trucha, Chairo, Caldo de Cabeza (de cordero), Cldo de patas (de cordero y res), Zarza de patas (de cerdo) and others.

Lo que comiste si es papá pero deshidratada y hay dos formas de hacerlo y cada uno tiene su nombre el que ustedes comieron creo q es moraya y el q sale del otro proceso se llama chuño

thats a funny video and lamb in Peru is always good, fresh, cheap and very especial with corn and chuño (dried potato) , btw you DONT CHEW COCA LEAVES when u put in mouth, its only to hold it on one side of your mouth and the saliva will work on, when u chew it gets bad and u need to throw it out in few minutes.

0... moraya is chuño blanco, people who say they are different are wrong, there are two types of chuño, chuño blanco "white" and chuño negro "black", white one is made with white potato and black one is made with potatoes of other colors 1. Chuño is freeze dried potatoes putted under running water for about 2 to 3 weeks and then freeze dried again, it's almost 100% starch, the process is always artisanal, there is no way to make chuño with modern technology 2. The activator of the coca leaf is saliva, people of the andes who work in their fields chew the leaves all day to avoid hunger, that's why people say it gives you energy, coca it's actually an anesthesic....3. The seller with glasses showed to you "tocra", it's a mixture of corn ashes, quinoa plant ashes, some potato ashes and some sugar, it is used to give some sweet to coca leaf flavor, it is not the activator, that miss is wrong, they will say anything to sell things to you, my grandparents in harvest season used to chewed coca with tocra, because they couldn't stand the bitterness of coca.... that's where my knowledge comes from... 4. If you chew coca leaves too much, they will stain your teeth forever...5. Just go with the coca tea XD ... 6. When its harvest season, people from the andes use coca leaves to "give" them energy, they also smoke cigarettes without filter "Inca brand" to show respect to the mountains and not to get "abuelo"(literally "grandfather" it can be a personified-unidentified sickness), if you go to nature and dont show respect by chewing coca o smoking a cigarrette then you will get sick of "abuelo", it is believed, once you have "abuelo", you need a "juveada"(there is no translation for this word), shamans rub eggs or alive cuys all around your body to take bad energies away, then the eggs and the cuy are "discarded" ... pretty dark traditions of the andes XD

They also worked with gold silver bronze and the alloys of differente metals. Next time you come to Peru go to the north where is it located also with the increible foot and traditions there.

En realidad debes de tratar de exprimir el jugo de coca después de que lo máscara y poco a poco sentirás que se te adormece la boca y más luego tendrás energía y sin ganas de comer lo que sucede es que al estar mascando la coca por un buen rato produces alcalinos y son muy buenos para tus dientes además de que te dan energía y senciacion de estar bien pero este efecto solo sucede si más cas la coca por 5 a más min

@@omomohoho Así es chuño... un tipo de papa que se seca a bajas temperaturas de forma natural por un corto o largo tiempo... este alimento andino es una gran fuente de calcio y hierro, además que mantiene todas las propiedades nutricionales de la papa. Por su parte, el almidón que contiene el chuño puede proteger las paredes estomacales evitando la gastritis y úlceras (diario expreso)... ¡Ah! el que comiste se llama moraya y tiene similar proceso que el chuño.
Miguel, si es papa; claro que hay ciertas variedades de papa de las que se puede hacer buen chuño, papa blanca o papa negra. El proceso de deshidratado al frio fue ideado por los antiguos Incas, y su nombre en todo el vasto imperio de los incas fue "chuño".
