    About the Artist:
Dalariti, a Khasi folk artist is true to her name, which in the Khasi Dialect means 'to preserve one's own culture'. She and her band 'Dalariti' have remain steadfast in their approach to preserve the many intricate aspects of the Khasi culture through their songs. Three members of the band have won the prestigious 'Young Talented Artist's Award for excellence in Folk Music' in Meghalaya. Dalariti, the artist, having endured personal tragedy and many other challenges, she has reclaimed them all in her own voice and verse with the help of her band members. Their collective expression navigates not only the roots of their past, but also the challenges and possibilities of the present and the hopes and dreams of a their individual and their community's futures.
    Thymmei:
Thymmei is a folk song that speaks of the wonders of the Kongthong village that sits nestled in the rainy green hills of Meghalaya. A village well known for the names of its residents that are formed in unique signatures of 'whistles' or 'coos'. The song is filled with the conviction of their strong roots, the delight of their present joys which involves the little details of their predominant occupation which is Broom-Making, and the determination to save their culture in the times to come.
    Pada Project:
A song reveals a people, a people reveal their purpose, a purpose reveals an unseen universe. A universe that floats in the endless grace of a song. It is here that the stories of the PaDa project lie.
    Translation of THYMMEI BAN PYNSAH
    ROOTS TO PRESERVE
The hills, the rivers, the forests, the woods flourish in expanse,
The caves and caverns, the monoliths, that Nature spring in abundance
The betel grinder, pouches and baskets, mortar and grinding stone,
The wrapper, the turban, the breechcloth, the bamboo sieve, the axe the woodcutting blade,
The Betel nut and leaf in abundance, the Elderly, they joyously merry,
The lime on the betel leaf, they mark, our Roots that they preserve.
    2. Our huts, hearthstone, they awaken us,
Hear! do not forfeit it, they are The Khasi identity,
The musical instruments ceaselessly sway, the singing and whistling abound,
How the heart urges, to expose to the world,
    The Betel nut and leaf.........
Our own roots, Oh! Do not forget, to raise them high above,
The land of truth and and honesty, and good morals along.
