Had one in 1990. Bought it barely used from a 55 year old man for 1800. It was the best dirt bike I ever owned (out of 30+ total I have owned). Super reliable, very fast, great power. Raced MX and Hare Scrambles with it and it was equally adept at both.
My brother had same bike! I just remember it hooked up really well and I had a hard time catching him (if at all) on my ‘89 kx500. He was renting a farm house with full use of massive fields. We made tracks and would spend all day riding.
Hey I’m pretty sure that is my old bike. If so it started from parts in a box. I spent about a week polishing that swing arm alone. The reason it has so much compression is I built the engine using a cast iron sleeve, high compression piston and ported and polished the combustion chamber in the head. Also has a Boyseen reed valve and FMF Fatty for low end torque. Makes some serious power. I traded it in on a brand new Honda 4 wheeler in Louisville in 1998 because all my buddies had them and wanted to ride creeks all the time. MISTAKE!!
What a sweet ride ,love that yellow and blue combo on the bbn old zukes, man Kap you have a awesome history yourself, I think I could sit and talk bikes and racing withyou for days !
Great "hurricane" classic right there ken! Can't believe you got to ride with Bob! Do you recall if he won that race? Only thing I can see is the swingarms gotta have that "full floater" decal on there! Lol(even tho the suspension was a full floater in name only at that point, semi floater I guess you'd call it)
I keep saying to myself I'm asking for heartache following this channel. This bike is from exactly from when I was besotted with MX. The blue colouring was so cool 👌!. You guys are so putting a classic RM back out there 💪👌🤘. Thanks for sharing it with us all 😜
i bought this bike and im disabled lol I cannot touch the ground when on it and i cant start it to much compression lol but , It's a pretty ride i just like to look at it haha
I actually own one of these and bought it when I was 14, the first time I ever went on it I put it in gear got up to third and the bike just stood up 😂 I managed to save it though 😂😂
My first RM was a 84 RM 80, since I've rode and owned many, straight zuki man. All RM's are amazing, but I have to say they were never better then the 2000's. They were at the top of there game from 2004 up. I wish zuke would bring them back. Definitely buy a new one.
I loved my 88 rm 250. also had 3 different years of RMX 250s 1990 1992 1993 the 1990 was the best of those 3 , But that 88 rm 250 was the best of the ones I raced .
They were great bike's, I would think parts would be hard to find. Is yours stock, the one I raced back in the day had all the fruit. It used to eat pistons, every meeting we would replace it. Where abouts are you in Australia
Always loved the color scheme of that year. James is supposed to be coming today around 5pm, with my GasGas! ❤️😁😁😎....Thank Y'all so much brother. for hooking me up. When I get some more money together, I'm getting a GasGas Helmet, Goggles, and a Skid Plate. Jr. Is giving me a great deal. In the future, I plan on buying blue rims, and red hubs from y'all. God Bless!
I used to have the 125 version of this and pulled many hole shots in the local hair scrambles this was in 2001 the bike was just as fast as a new bike it even still had the sticker on the rear fender that told you what to mix the premix
250 two strokes are just about all you ever need for riding off road ...these Suzuki's are pretty good for GNCC..HARE SCRSamBLES , AND OF COURSE ,MOTO CROSS ..there are call kinds of camping gear to tie on .and just use this ,RM for a play bike ..they are just that good
Love those year of bikes from Suzuki..The yellow and blue look killer. Especially with the Gold Rims. I think Suzuki used the yellow and blue color scheme through 1990?? If I remember correctly, once 1991 came, they went to different graphics. My first 2 stroke was a Mint 1983 RM 125, which is why Suzuki is near and dear to my heart. Then I stepped up to a 1993 Yamaha YZ 250, which was a huge jump..Once I had the YZ 250 for a few months, I had gotten used to it. I Always Love Full 🍌 sandwich! Always a good and entertaining thing to watch!
Holy damn what a dime piece...and what a great outfit to go with the bike...man those colors just pop on the video i can only imagine how badass it looks in person....something about that yellow and blue that never gets full...even though this styling was considered dated even back then ...to me its a timeless design that harks back to a time long before i was around and i think today they may be more desirable than ever...i kinda like the duckbilled platabus front fendwr and the semi circle rear fender but hey what do i know.....lol...kaplan cycles does it again....got that wizard tune dialed in ......
Hey Ken,Thanks for letting us know about Your Racing background.I always thought that You had to have Raced Motocross at sometime. You don't get riding skills like that just riding trail bikes. How old are You Ken?You ride good on any bike I've ever seen You on.You're killing those little 100's Man.Two Strokes RULE!!!
If I didn't like u so much and if u weren't a huge badass I'd steal those fox duds right off u 🤗 those were my colors man . I had a fox beanie from when I was 14 I loved that thing so much I finally put it up for safe keeping at my dads place in Oregon. Burnt up with his whole trailer park. Memories huh brother, u give me back my memories every time. Thank u again .
Flying with grace I hope to visit your museum one day also the awesome sea food you guys produce watching from south Florida God bless us guys God bless American. I was wondering does this rm250 have bottom, mid, or high top end power? Also we're this bike built for trail riding or motocross racing?
If Ken is in full gear you know it's about to go down!
I love the mid eighties to early nineties RM's. Once again you have the best life in the world.
For sure..!
Had one in 1990. Bought it barely used from a 55 year old man for 1800. It was the best dirt bike I ever owned (out of 30+ total I have owned). Super reliable, very fast, great power. Raced MX and Hare Scrambles with it and it was equally adept at both.

Full blown Fox gear and full throttle, gate drop style two stroke starts inside city limits = Legendary.
What a sweet ride ,love that yellow and blue combo on the bbn old zukes, man Kap you have a awesome history yourself, I think I could sit and talk bikes and racing withyou for days !
I click just for the sound, reminds me when I was a teenager. The woods were full of sounds like this, as it should be.
Had to watch this one again, the swing arm is off the scale, the whole machine is just beautiful.
What can you say, it’s a super nice rebuild. I wasn’t aware of the Hoosier tires being lighter.
I love story time with uncle Ken.

Out here in Australia you hardly see this model. They were bought out in low numbers. There price is high when you do see one forsale.

Nice! Every piece of it looks superb one missing part pipe mount but may not be needed with that stout looking bracket right under the tank.
Ken is my spirit animal.
I used to have the 125 version of this and pulled many hole shots in the local hair scrambles this was in 2001 the bike was just as fast as a new bike it even still had the sticker on the rear fender that told you what to mix the premix
Wonder if that's Ken's garden they keep ripping through!🤣 Gotta be one a theirs surely?
