- Skunk sounds - learn skunk noises! Mephitis mephitis sound. The skunk is found in the Great Plains of North America. It lives in forests and open areas. His hair is thick and fluffy, black in color with white stripes. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
The name Mephitis comes from the Latin word mephit, which means "bad smell". The total length of individuals varies from 46.5 cm to 81.5 cm. The tail is 17 cm to 40 cm long. Adult body weight ranges from 0.7 to 6.3 kg. Adults make a variety of sounds, from soft growls to sounds that resemble bird signals. Skunks don't like the smell of citrus.

I've woke up a couple times with a lady skunk sleeping on my arm. Learn one time that you DO NOT want to try tonight sneak away. Don't make er angry. What I do remember from those experiences is that they get wild those sounds give me flashbacks rrreeeiighhh rereeeeiigghh rRRRREEEIIIIGHHH O GOD REEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeee er rrr rrrrr hmmm.... She was a one of a kind. Her boyfriend showed up at my house with some buddies trying to get me to fight him. I didn't want nothing to do with it. Then couple months later she had quadrooplets and I was gonna take that shit to court but you could tell they were mine cuz they all looked half human half skunk so ya... Don't feel bad. Hell we just recently got married and got nuther litter on the way the quads are doing great getting good grades on the swim team billy got sponsored by puma shure its not Nike but he's a 3rd grade skunkhuman. So ya pay attention next time. Hell I I've got 5 or 6 different species kids running around from armadillo to bass hell possums. Hell I coined that old joke myself "what's the difference between a oppossum and an armadillo? A light switch. Oh ya that was me. Made it on Carson got me my 15 min of fame. Ya sorry got lost there just make sure they all carry a shot card to make sure they've been properly inoculated that way you know your not getting some ole coon that just come crawling out of a dumpster. That's all I've got for ya. Oh and do not try out the dolphins.

I found about 6 living under my Ohio house deck a few days ago. They come out and play at dusk rolling around and chasing each other around the yard. Probably a little family. I've heard them making this sound. I haven't smelled them yet. So, as long as they leave me alone there won't be an issue. Skunk Lives Matter.

I just heard a sound outside. It sounded like an animal crying so I went to investigate and saw a skunk. Fortunately, I made it back inside without getting sprayed. Just wanted to make sure this was the noise I heard. It's cool to hear all the reasons why people looked this up.
Same thing here. Heard a noise like an animal in distress. Thought maybe it was the squirrels that live in the tree outside my window, so I was looking when I caught a whiff of skunk smell and saw one run across the road. Promptly closed all of my windows!

A mama and baby skunk have taken to visiting me. I heard some chortle like noises and proceeded to investigate. About 4 feet away was a skunk headed right towards me. After a very quick retreat inside, I watched her cruise by like she owned the place...which at that time she certainly did. Trailing her was her baby with the tail straight up. I was fortunate, but my cat....not so much.
I heard this sound for the first time in my life last night, probably less than 50' away. Within 5 seconds I smelled Mr. Skunk and shut the window.

I thought it was an animal being killed. I’m relieved to hear that it’s just normal noises a skunk makes. Went on for a half hour and then the smell hit, super intense. The house still smells like skunk all throughout.

I’ve dealt with this multiple times at my house, we caught one skunk a couple days ago, but there must’ve been more than one cause we got sprayed again.

Earlier tonite my dad heard a noise outside our house. (We live in South Jersey right outside Philly.) He came and told me what he heard and saw. He told me he saw a little kitten wandering around our front yard. Me being the cat obsessed dork that I am, I wanted to see. We also have 2 cats of our own. We also have a skunk or 2 that live in our backyard. I don't know much about skunks except that they spray a rancid smelling mist when they feel threatened and are nocturnal. We both heard the kind of high pitched meowing noise again, then saw the skunk run against this planter wall we have in our yard that divides us from our next door neighbors' yard. It ran right into their yard and I was like OMG!!!! It kinda sounded like a bird almost. Thank you for clearing that up for us.

I walked up on one the other night and was shocked it wasn't afraid of me and kind of hopped like a ferret that wants to play. Then I remembered why it wasn't afraid lol

I have a family of skunks under my house that I’ve gotten to know. I give them a small amount of food every night. Skunks are actually really sweet animals. They don’t spray unless they are cornered. You don’t have to run inside the second you see one. Mine will take food out of my hand. They even like to sit on my feet, I can see why they are popular pets. I love just hanging out with them learning their different personalities, at times I’ll shave as many as 10 around me and not once have I felt threatened.
There was a small skunk at my apartment. Got picks of it.
I just needed these sounds to roleplay as an anthropomorphic skunk.

It's 9 at night. I was in the hot tub. I heard a noise in the trees.
The 3rd sound was what I heard. Let me tell you what. I never knew a skunk made that kind of sound and I never moved so damn fast out of the hot tub. The fricking movie Signs with aliens scooting around the house went through my head.😄 (I'm on 10 acres of land in the woods) thank you youtube for this info😁
My dog came running up to the back door rubbing at his face, and smelling like a rotten sewage system. I knew it was a skunk that got him, but I could hear the damned thing chittering towards the back of the yard, so I knew for sure 😂
I started to take my dog out to potty... nope, not in back. So went to front door... smelled every bit as strong there. The quandary... pup needs to pot, but there's clearly a visitor near. Chose the back... and while he's doing his business I hear those little chirps. Luckily pup finished sorta quickly and we retreated.

Many years ago our largish dog got sprayed in the face. She came running in from pottying and ran through the house. Then I smelled burning rubber and was running around the house trying to find what was burning. That's when I learned that skunk spray up close smells like burning rubber! At least the variety we had did.

After listening to this all the way through I realize I might have been hearing them every morning but thinking it was bird song. It blended in with a lonely mockingbird that's been trilling all night, and the bird chatter just before dawn.

I was just walking a trail in Toronto and heard what I thought was a rabbit distress cry. As I standard and wait to see or hear what got it, instead I see a small skunk back out of some bushes with its back arched, screaming at something in the brush. It did this for about 30 seconds and then ran off down another path towards some more brush.
Not sure what it was screaming at, didn't want to get too close in case there was another one there, or an aggressive coyote or fisher. Wondering now if an Owl got one without it spraying and spooked the one I saw.

Im pretty sure we have a colony at my apartments. I tgought at first it was birds. Then i figured birds wouldnt be all over and on the geound. I heard at least 14 differently distanced chirps while i was walking my dog. I was surrounded but couldnr see them. Now im gonna be wcared to take him out at night.

I usually hear cats and dogs in the neighborhood and while I was getting some bottles ready for my son I heard a strange noise among the many cat noises I hear my cats weren't making any noise this morning they were just eating their food and mind you I have two cats that are outside right now and the other one is inside so she doesn't get pregnant she gets spayed later this month. And I knew skunks usually wandered about our neighborhood that was just the first time I heard one so I looked up the sound to be sure that that was what I was and that is definitely what I heard I am so glad that my cats know better than to mess with a skunk. Our neighbors dog however was not that lucky.

Schnit! The third noise is exactly what I heard coming from under a shrub by my garage! My husband said it it was a barfing cat. 🙄 Ummmm, nah. I have had cats for tears and never heard one sound like THAT creepy noise. Trouble is, now what do I do?!?
