Everyone has the right to feel comfortable and confident in their own body. In a world were body dissatisfaction is associated with a poorer quality of life, psychological distress and eating disorders, it is about time we make a change. How? By changing the perception of our body image one woman a day. Which women? All women, all background, all shapes sizes and forms. Everyone deserves to be proud of their own body and everyone should be given the opportunity to have their bodies painted to increase their feelings of worth and empowerment.

My gorgeous model today @alwaysmargi anorexia warrior, dancer and actress said the following after her session: “from my lowest point of anorexia, today felt amazing and I found appreciation for my now healthy and striving, strong, womanly body - on another level to ever before.” This is the power and magic in using our body as a vehicle for art.

This is all beautiful but, women do not need body painting for empowerment. Women have the bodies, so they have the power. If you want to nakedly empower yourself, we'll all be glad to watch.

From what I can see of Margi through this video. She seems to be well on her way to recovering from anorexia. I don’t know what drives an individual do it. The first time I was made aware of this being a thing was a fellow dance student in a community college. Her job was as an airline attendant. The strict rules of maintaining a certain weight made her purge regularly. Latter on I was educated as to eating disorders mainly with female dancers. Years later as an instructor an assistant informed me of the physical signs a body displays this individual has an eating disorder. On the first day of a new semester I saw a student who displayed these physical signs. So I went up to her. Looked at her arms, and then looked her in the eyes, and without saying one word I let her know, that I knew what was going on with her. She never returned to class. About a year and a half later I was at a block buster video store. A group of three girls entered and went about their perusal of the videos. One caught my attention. She some how looked familiar, but could place her. Once I was done with my shopping I exited the store and saw those girls driving by. I saw that one girl in the back seat and it hit me. It was that girl from my class with the eating disorder. She obviously has made a change in her life. She had regained a normal body weight for her body type. As a dance instructor I always felt I was constantly being challenged to help the females in my classes with their skewed body image, and to help them to accept the shedding of their child’s body, which was transforming into a child bearing woman’s form, and there was nothing wrong or negative about this physical transformation. Also, I tend to put eating disorders in the same category as women having plastic surgery, that show the same determination in having it done repeatedly. I hope Margi’s journey in her recovery and self love is unending success.

I’m all for positive body image I’m a Sculptor that works in the Human form It’s most likely my prejudice my Sister a Wonderful painter painted faces and bodies for years . Her paintings had more whimsical fun loving colors and thymes. One would think being naked having the joy of being part of a creation tickling paint brushing Sadly breasts cancer took her away from us. Keep paint maybe staying more on the sunny side lighten up a bit

@abigailkudrich7529 Interesting! I never thought of that but... it's very pigmented, full of dye, and I guess the skin can't really breathe under there. Makes sense there's a high potential for complications with the wrong or low-quality paint..
@abigailkudrich7529 Was thinking it looks fun for photos but wearing it longer is probably a whole different thing. I know actors who wore it had some serious issues after, like Tinman in Wizard of Oz and Carrey in The Grinch.
