  • Officer - As an officer in the REME you will be required to hold an accredited technical degree or an interest to study for an accredited technical degree, which will be paid for on successful commissioning from RMAS if you meet the eligibility criteria. This will allow you to become a Chartered Engineer and Member of a Professional Engineering Institute as a matter of course.

    Does anyone know what an aeronautical engineering officer does in the army? Is it job where you are outdoors a lot?

      Definition of engineer:
      a person who designs, builds, or maintains engines, machines, or structures.
      The main focus of these trades is to maintain the equipment for the British army.

      Why do americans call a liquid Gas ..We call it petrol

      Because it dounds better for example the R Engineers used the word "Combat " Engineer the R Signals at one time used the word " Combat " in many trades.
      Combat Lineman, Combat Driver, ...etc

      Ive always wondered this as well. I think it's just to mask how shitty real engineers get paid here in the UK.
