Henry Graham's trust fund is running out so he hatches a plan to marry a rich heiress, Henrietta Lowell (Elaine May-writer/director) who happens to be a college professor whose specialty is ferns. Successfully wedding her she finds a new species of fern on their honeymoon. She mentions in this clip that she sends a sample to "Wagner at the University of Michigan" for confirmation. It's either Warren "Herb" Wagner or his wife Florence, both world experts on the evolution and systematics of ferns (Pteridophytes/[Polypodiopsida]). She names it Alsophila grahami in honor of her husband!

My favourite film!!!
I’ve always thought this scene was incredibly moving. I love this film, and am glad it and Elaine May, a genius and a pioneer are getting the recognition they deserve now.
I love this love. Stumbled on it years ago. Late night.
Elaine spoke at San Francisco event. Her. At these events, (interviews) It's customary for the interviewer to meet them before at a fish house on Hayes St. Really. I wanted to go there, walk up to her table and say, "I've seen all your movies, Miss Riefenstahl." Next time.
