I miss when Roblox games actually had interesting and unique ideas to them. All the old games felt like passion-filled Indie games made by people who just wanted to bring their ideas to life, instead of big corporate games that trick you into gambling and wasting hours of your life for a goal that could not be acheived.
There are some games that aren't like that but its only like less than 10% of the games in the platform sadly..
One of them is Arcane Odyssey a very good game, though the combat is not that good but to advice: the bosses are NOT easy, the First 2 maybe but the others are quite complicated, it has some bugs since it is in early access and this year maybe like September or October the game will become a full release with all of its intended features
Starting from around 1:48 there’s a short clip of the game “Boost Vector” on its map called “Orion”. I’d like to say that although the game looks generic and is also no longer receiving updates, the game could be still fun and the concept is great: Without using vehicles, you could race against other players in (somewhat) speedy action. It does have its own unique system called “bands” which go on the players’ wrist and buying new ones as well as upgrading them (to gain speed and other stats) allows for several playstyles. You should check out the game itself, and the music is pretty cool. Although some have been removed for legal ressons.

The Experiment is a horror waiting game, where you are a Delta Experiment that is trying to escape and figure out the lab around you. (This is my favorite! :D)
Horrific Housing is a survival game to play with friends, where you survive on your house and try and kill the others to survive.
Zombie Attack is were you fight off hoards of zombies and get the gun that works for you best.
Super Doomspire is an upgraded and more fun version of Doomspire Brick battle.
Bear Alpha is a survival game where you hide from the bear that tries to catch you. (It also has lore)
Zach's Service Station is a simulator game that you can play with up to 12 friends where you build your ever growing gas station, and upgrade yourself to work better.
Write a Letter is a hangout game that has little hiding spots, a library, a cabin, a house, an abandoned gas station and a hidden underground ice wonderland.
*Enjoy these games as much as you can! All of these games deserve recognition!*

OMG I played all of these and almost forgot some of them and you're absolutely right they are damn fun and I was addicted to most of them except the zombie one I never heard of it, I'll definitely try that out on a better device!
I’d also recommend Juke’s Towers of Hell, it’s a collection of really hard obbies but it’s fun, it feels like Mario for me for some reason
I’ve played write a letter before and it blinded my soul and eyes. I recommend all of these but for the sake of sanity do NOT go to write a letter the playerbass there is questionable😭🙏🏼
pro tip: play a roblox game called “retro studio” as it simulates roblox in 2010 to 2015 perfectly… with lots of active players and a community similar to the one many years ago
and in the future, it will add 2008 and 2016 to the mix of time periods!
im an aspiring game dev, who already has several games out, and this video is insanely accurate. my games dont have any shops or things like that, so roblox isnt really pushing them. my situation has probably happened to millions of other creators, so any new original games have probably just been killed off by how roblox works

I do want to wish you the best on your games, it can be difficult to create original content and be able to stand out in such crowds that you could drown under in, but if you keep it up and learn various techinques, you can surely get there!
Just don't go after the money, it is best to stick to what you want to make as a passion!

i miss the "boring roblox games" with those chill vibes like early 2016 u know the ones like where there arent really many game mechanics but its still fun to play kinda, something about those low graphic games is nice and it seems this mindset to chill games and a balance of really nice games is returning, there's a game called "need more heat" it seems very simple at first but its actually quite bittersweet and goofy about a kid who doesn't want to go to school and needs to convince a fever hence the name, but as you progress through the endings you start to notice something is off with dad, it turns out the kid (player) mother is dead so upon that the kid that you are playing as decides to visit their moms grave, at the end the father and son reconcile and spend the day together instead of having the kid go to school. if you like bittersweet or sad games there's lots of very good projects on those, but again the stupid problem of actually finding them in that mindless garbage corporate algorithm arises.
@@ElvixErty that sounds like a really cool game and it reminds me of one of my old favorite games called get a snack at 4am, it seems simple at first but the story is super cool (I won’t spoil anything in case you haven’t played it yet)
The real problem is the platform for sure. There are still great games out there ready to be found. But the sense of simplicity, innocence and community that made Roblox a jolly time is lost.
imo roblox just became too big for its own good. literally millions of kids playing means any good developer can get an easy buck by making shitty simulator games and overmonetizing everything
also a game company becoming public is probably one of the worst decisions it can make, from the players perspective at least. as soon as that happens, the company's interests aren't to keep the players happy, its to keep the shareholders happy

I totally agree with you, roblox has changed. The majority experiences in Roblox is just simulators and cashgrabs that isnt mentally good for underage users. I rarely find games with good pvp mechanics like Black Magic II because my recommendation would get bombarded with repetitive grinding pet autoclicking monstrosity. I would always get up, play ABD with the homies, killing toxic spanish users with the rainbow drip using NTWAU. Now basically every one of my friends are either gone or autoclicking on some random game. Roblox just aint fun no more, I'm still playing roblox just because i cant find any multiplayer games that is suitable for my laptop (shit laptop btw). So basically, i cant play valorant, apex or etc. Nowadays i just play with my classmates on roblox horror games or bully children on PVP games.

Every single person who has every played roblox needs to see this, such simple games used to not even matter as it was still fun, but nowdays it only matters if it is high effort. No matter if you're OG, or a new player, you need to know this before you play any roblox game. They're all just cash grabs, like simulator games or Adopt Me that really have no actual effort come into them while games such as Hours or BMII are overlooked and underappreciated. Sometime around 2018 - 2022 (i dont remember exactly), roblox began giving more monetized games higher in the front page. Underrated, fun, passion-based games are significantly less popular

even in 2018 - 2019, Most of my cousins/friends didnt give a crap about simulators and played really awesome games. My favorite genres were platforming/obbies, with a side of horror (and maybe even RP). I played so many games between 2018 - 2019 that many of yall played earlier in like 2016 - 2017, (EX: Epic Minigames, Stop it Slender 2, and Freeze Tag [the one made by ConnorVIII], and so many other games that I am compelled to make a list of) which gave off the same aura of surprise and pride while playing, instead of a weird experience, like way modern games
Also there were other cashgrabs too, and horrible games that have existed way before this point. (Around the start of Roblox going public), so even though it felt like it was most likely popularized in one year then the other, doesn't meant that that year is horrible/ it was filled to the brim with trash games/ Heck, most of the front page games in 2018 (from like Wayback archive as far as I can remember), arent even simulators lol. Sorry for ranting, I just feel like certain years get stereotyped way to much for something that could be easily forgotten about lol, also includes some bias since I joined very early on in 2018 haha
I agree with you 100%, its so sad to see that the games on roblox are not an "experience" anymore, they're just cashgrabbers, aspiring game developers are probably ages 7-14 (but this is from what i've observed) and say "hey, that looks cool, let me try making something similar" but of course, they are overtaken by other games, those fun and entertaining, simple games that are made with passion are just set aside with barely and players, and those shitty simulator games are just generating more revenue from children who probably begged for robux from their parents, i mean don't get me wrong, most simulator games are fun, but would you really spend money to enjoy the "experience", wasting things like that is just plain dumb, but of course, they're kids, they wouldn't know, but how can i blame them, when i was one of them.

I remember the good days when Meepcity and Bloxburg where the height in player count. I would come from school and see these games and start playing and some games such Advanced Warfare Tycoon!, Military Warfare Tycoon, Call of Roblox, Themepark Tycoon 2, Retail Tycoon, Lumber Tycoon, Roleplay World, Survive a Natural Disaster, Would you Rather 1/2, etc were the height of Roblox nobody was toxic everybody was nice it was super active I remember the day I would wake up go to school come back and play roblox I would be ectsatic when I could come back and play now I feel sad that barely anybody and plays now it's just full of OD's, Slenders, Emos, scammers, etc so much hate and toxicity and cash grabs. Now those games I used to play are so low in player count as before. The game with the most low player count than I remember is AWT!, MWT, RT, COR, LT, RW, and WR 1/2. Who else remembers these times (around 2015-2018/9)

I remember feeling just genuinely burnt out off of roblox because of how dry the games got, repetitive, addictive, built to develop a habit, all that stuff
And then i turned to arcane odyssey, sure it's an MMORPG so it's grindy, but even then it felt like a genuine experience replaying it after several months of taking a break, the combat could be considered as janky sure but it grows on you, and i feel that's something a lot of roblox games are missing now, something new that could grow on a number of people

Personally, I agree with you on roblox's status. The majority of games rely on cash grabs and addicting younger children into playing non stop, and the better less grindy ones that don't get thousands of robux worth of ads get overshadowed and usually abandoned. As one of the younger people who plays this game, I can totally say that there are many things that will cause lasting issues with our young minds, either that being pedos, addicting games with bad communities, or just straight up bad games. Personally, Its hard to find roblox enjoyable now, because all I can do is play one or 2 decent roleplay games (which still arent that great) or play some pvp games and grind. I've even gotten into scripting myself, as it seems enjoyable and a good way to enjoy roblox nowadays. I hope roblox gets better, but the future seems grim unless some major changes happen in the community.

Wish I could’ve seen this video earlier. that being said I’m glad I’ve known friends back then including you have realised the new Roblox algorithm to which many are exploited by that grind aspect and many wishing the old community and the old Roblox we know. Back then Roblox was ideal of “Powering Imagination” the community was chill, actual genuine fun games were made, Roblox ACTUALLY cared for their community. I myself ran into TheGuestToBlame on pvp games such as project sumbus accudo and critical strike, that guy as a developer deserved more love towards others, his nicer nature should be cherished like other developers rather be pressured by their own community. So glad you have the same viewpoint and experience I do Siomai, it was worth subscribing to you during the abd days.
For anyone that want's a grindy game but it's also fun try Evolve, its like a Spore like game where you can your own little creature and fight player and make friends, it will also make you captivated but not in such a bad way. Hope that helps anyone finding a game (:
Finding good games is like nearly impossible nowadays which cause to play less and less to the point I might as well quit Roblox because of it, the only games I actively play nowadays is either the old classic games people’s stop playing. One game I could recommend y’all to try at least once is neonKnights (which is the same devs who made a Boost vector) The game not perfect but its one of those that the developers put there time into making it and it’s pretty fun for me in my opinion

I used to play a game called flood escape 2 back in 2018, it was my most played game back then and I would constantly play it 24/7. I miss those days when I have to work together with other players to procced to the next part in the level which encourages players to have a sense of teamwork, because of that I made alot of friends from that game it. Damn I really REALLY miss those days...

I also had the same feeling for awhile. But I got to back into it recently because I played the old games I used to play and loved.
I remember when my friend found hours and told me how we should try it until we realized it was a singleplayer game, so we just left it behind and decided to go play something else. A few days later I remembered about it and decided to try it. It was probably the most fun I've had on roblox since I first joined the platform

Sure, everything looks much more sleek, clean, and nice to look at, but one thing the old page will have over the current one is the colors and how inviting the game page looked. The new colors, mostly white, black, grey, and green (mostly found on the Robux page) don’t seem very inviting at all.
I stopped playing Roblox in 2020 after playing it since 2012. I now, got back to it, I play it sometimes with friends, and it's really not the same. No fun at all. Where are the events? There is so much stuff I don't see anymore. Nothing to do now. It's really sad.
i hate that god's mistake of a game engine is only built for first person shooters. too bad people prefer making donation games and afk simulators to rot your brain at a young age over capitalizing roblox's only good strength

I loved boost vector, and I went back to it a while back. Most of the music got copyrighted and it kind of killed the experience until I listened to the proper music while playing it. There still are good games

i agree with every single point made in this video. i remember going onto roblox almost every day and playing abd, where i actually had fun and enjoyed myself. now literally almost every game on the front page is just a cashgrab and isnt fun at all to play. roblox is still almost the only platform i even play anything on, but all I really do is just play horror games or join whatever my friends are doing. roblox is still fun, although sometimes it can take actual hours just to find a fun game to play. the entire games page is just simulators or cash grabs where you repeat the same thing over and over again. not to mention the players too. roblox used to be an actual fun community and was mostly peaceful, now most of the community is extremely toxic and its really hard to find anyone thats nice or a good sport in games. the only game ive even played throughout the past year without quitting is the mimic, which despite being a literal horror game is still my favorite game on the entire platform currently because of how money hungry all the other developers are. i wish the entire platform could just go back to how it was like 1 and a half years ago, back to when there was actually more fun games than pay to win cashgrabs made by some developer who barely even puts effort into their game.
As a 2016 roblox veteran I myself think roblox is just boring now.
Literally the only games you can see on the website is only some simulators or pay-to-win games and the cooler games you have to find them.

Roleplay games are peak Roblox IMO. Titles like After the Flash, Legends of Aether, Blastaway Newmex, SBRP, and even some undertale ones if you go to the right servers, are amazing and fun.
I literally almost cried when I saw roblox before, life has changed man. Roblox was way better back then, I remember all of the fun times I used to have while not having to play simulator games and all of the old games I used to play

The montage close to the end of the video really gave me an unexplainable feeling of nostalgia, I grew up with ROBLOX, and now any game just seems either too grindy, or too toxic. At the start of it, I saw possibility, and now, I see a loss of hope. Whenever I watched this video, at the start I was ignorant, but you brought up a lot of good points and this opinion has now grown onto me as truth, most of the ROBLOX games now are just blatant cash grabs, or too bland.
After watching this video, I realized how much this platform has inspired me to try new things, now it's just a reason for me to yell. I mainly only play games which involve combat, like Jojo's games. I've long quit Your Bizarre Adventure, and A Universal Time got too boring for me to play. There are very few games as of now that I continuously play, Grand Piece Online is fun, but I realize that won't be for much longer.

as a person who was formerly #3 on the kill leaderboards for combat warriors i cant imagine where id be today without it, i made so many good friends and met so many amazing people on that game and it made me a more social person in general so i cant be more grateful for it.
The last thing that made me quit Roblox was them removing Linux support. And yeah I agree with you, games are also just cash grabs and get boring quick. I made my first account in 2018.

It really hits the spot when you said "It's about the experience“, I discovered roblox when I was in G5-6 and me, my younger sibling and my cousin used to play roblox alot and have fun, getting lost in maze in Lumber tycoon 2, escaping prison in prison life, and finding your target in assassin, Trying out new elements in elemental battle grounds. It was such a fun and wonderful experience as a child.

idek, i do a lot of development stuff and I mean a lot of it. I'm pretty good at scripting, learned modeling, building animating (in multiple ways), etc. Working on the game for over 1.5 years, but wake up always questioning myself; "am I wasting time?" Cuz I work daily 2-7 hours a day (depends on the mood and the motivation) as a solo dev. The game is very detailed, the mechanics are sick, the map is beautiful, but is it worth the effort? Cuz what I'm seeking for is actually seeing it grow. Not to mention that assets CAN get stolen by some individuals, whichs very frustrating, cuz DMCA barely works, judging from other people's experience.

I only play combat warriors now but it’s so hard to find the energy to get on because i know i’m gonna get mad every time i play. Same goes for every single game I have on my computer so I barely play video games anymore.
Tbh i spend way more time in old broken 2010-2017 roblox games than the new scammy ass simulators. Retro studio is a great game with older graphics and mechanics thats really just nostalgia based, what makes it even better is it has its own world creator in the game itself and its pretty small rn so it would be easier to get higher in the recommended
No wonder so many people think Roblox is “cringe” and only for six year olds, based on the kind of brain rot content they see on it. I’ve never realized until now how many games on Roblox nowadays are made only for one main purpose; get as many people as possible addicted (likely with the use of daily rewards, leveling up through repetitive gameplay, overstimulating graphics, etc). Some of these games sorta remind me of RUclips Kids brain rot. Even games that weren’t originally like this such as Adopt Me turned into one of these games in some form. Many game developers on Roblox now are only getting hungrier for robux, and there isn’t much we can do to stop it. Especially with roleplay rapidly dying out all over the platform, most games now have little to no actual substance and unique gameplay. This also makes it harder for actually original and interesting games to get attention or on the front page, since they usually get buried under some new simulator that just got popular. All we can do is hope that things change for the better in the future, even though Roblox is currently rapidly going downhill.
(I recommend Retrostudio, as it’s a Roblox game that accurately recreates old Roblox (2009-2015) and the communities are pretty similar too. It has a built in studio where you can make games and games made by others. Players are also more social there and the servers feel more lively.)
I was so addicted to roblox like everytime i come back from school i would try to sneak my way to my potato without mom noticing back then..but now i just ignore it. There is no fun games just filled with boring clicking games with little to no fun,and oders everywhere. Ever since 2020, and when premium was introduced m, game developers realized they could make grindy clicker games which made you stay overnight in order to become stronger. Staying overnight gave developers tons of robux from premium players due to the fact that premium payout gave some robux every certain amout of time. Having thousands of premium players by riding on a trend or putting fun colors in your face to get the most amount of people to play would make developers thousands of robux each day.

Honestly this just brings up one of the main reasons I have trouble staying consistently on Roblox! So many games are just like you said and it's hard to find games that I actually really enjoy. I've been playing since 2014 or 2015 and made an account in the spring of 2016.
As a kid, before vampire hunters was a thing, the creator had made FANGZ which imo, was much more enjoyable than what I experienced in the new vampire hunters that are slowly dying. Unfortunately, FANGZ is deleted. However, I love playing that one game where you clean as plants or that little robot game where you run around and do quest sjjsjs
I honestly know how you feel about your videos. I can put effort into editing something but when I completely put no effort into something my video gets 1k views. Yet my animation that I worked hard on gets 15 views. Hopefully maybe in the future when I make my animations longer I get more views

Zeppelin wars is by far my favorite game. It was a reimagined version of an older Roblox game from the late 2000s. There are two teams, Patrol, and Pirates. Each team has the exact same zeppelin and planes, no pay to win game passes. From like 2020 - 2023 it had 1k active player average. But now it’s been overshadowed by Airship assault. With many micro transactions along the way. I can’t even figure out how to move the plane off the runway in that game.
Now Zeppelin Wars has a 80 - 120 active player average. Still a wide variety of players who play today. The OGs: people who playing game since it’s pre alpha stage. The intermediates: people who had been playing the game for a few months and already love it. And of course, The newcomers: people who aren’t looking for a game, people who are looking for an experience.

As someone who has been playing since 2016,trust me it wasn't all that amazing as many people describe it. A lot of them are really caught up on that nostalgia. What I will say though was that indeed,the ideas were somewhat more original for their time and there was less repetition. But I really have no desire to play those old games regularly and for hours like I used to when I was young,because when you get into it,they really didn't have that much to offer(at least most). I do wish roblox was more involved with it's community like how it was before.For example the EggHunts were amazing and really fun because it was once a year and you also got the collectibles as wearable items.I rlly miss that

Roblox 2008 was possibly the best time of my life.
I’m kinda sad that there are games with AMAZING quality that tend to fly under the radar for a bunch of Roblox players because they don’t have that “addictive grind” that a bunch of people crave. That, and sometimes, they don’t have any micro transactions, and if they do, it’s very little. Therefore, the games don’t make a whole lot of money.
Meanwhile, the games that reuse the same formula, and use IMMENSE amounts of micro transactions, get to be on the front row of Roblox’s FYP because they make a bunch of money.
That’s something that worries me a lot nowadays, since I’m trying to make a game based on the Twisted Metal games. I want it to be fun, but I know that it likely won’t do good because everyone will just look at another game hungry for money, leading players to come flocking towards that other game.
man i remember being able to just get 100 visitors in one day for my roblox rpg game that i made for fun, just by joining it myself, because roblox had a feature where any game could be found on the page as long as it had atleast one visit and it was even easier to find those games with the category filters. Now it is impossible to have your game found unless you do things outside the roblox platform to promote it.

As a 2013 player (ik not that old but eh) with friends who joined 2021+, it’s really interesting seeing our differing tastes and what we consider ‘nostalgic’.
For me it was raise an epic turtle,Roblox high school, beach house roleplay, work at a pizza place, natural disaster survival, arcane adventures, heroes! iPhone tycoon (it was this really specific one made by a creator from the. 2000s where you could paint stuff with the paint gun gear), two player gun factory tycoon, the quarry, guest defence, Christmas rush, boss fighting stages, devil beater, strife, murder mystery 2, boys vs girls island wars, deathrun 2, build a hideout and fight, catalog heaven, club neon, build and race, gear testing range, a lucid dream, make a cake, all of those marble games, adventure forward, mystic tower, survive the disasters, etc. I remember finding out how to fly in games where they had a sit button or a gear that made you sit, the Halloween event that only lasted a day on work at a pizza place where you threw candy at zombies to kill them. I remember making my own games using free models with my siblings and we’d play them.
For my friends it’s murder mystery 2, royal high, piggy, and tower of hell. The smaller selection of games is mainly because 1. They’d grind hard on them 2. Became harder to find new good games I guess?
An interesting thing I noticed is how more creatively stimulating games that encourage you to create aren’t as popular anymore. I mean most of the games I played weren’t that either but some were like build and race. Not to mention my friends have never touched Roblox studio or ever considered making something there since it seems intimidating since they compare themselves to established developers.
As a roblox developer with 7+ years of experience, this is SO RELATABLE!!!
I remember putting my heart and soul into a pretty much terribly executed game. I spent one and a half years on it to only get 40 visits. I had practically released it during the time when "simulators" were on the rise. I remember being eight years old and absolutely hating simulators and cash-grabby games for the same reasons this video explains. Roblox just cant seem to really care much about developers, in fact, you are more likely to get banned as a developer due to the fact that you are uploading assets to the platform, you kind of have no other choice but to do it and deal with it. Long wait times, terrible moderators, strict guidelines, unoptimized client, and outright unfair devex restrictions.. the ecosystem makes it almost impossible to make complex games on roblox. And then working for small teams with fanbases was absolutely STRESSFUL!! Fans expected so much in so little time, they did not understand anything about game development and just wanted us to release the game, expecting it not to be half-ah ah ah'd.
With this platform, i constantly end up with massive roadblocks from just the development ecosystem. I refuse to pump out cash grabs because I want to create video games as if it were art.
And thats because video games 𝗮𝗿𝗲 art.

Ive practically resorted to having to attempt learning ANOTHER game engine all over again from scratch, leaving all my roblox experience behind.
