  • Welcome to my brand new off-ice training series called #SkateWithMichelle. The focus of this week is spin technique! Check out my Instagram for the official Skate With Michelle Calendar: / b-iut1opc6e
Today is all about the layback spin technique. I am going to break down the spin from beginning to end so you understand the main steps of the layback spin. Starting the position off the ice will help you achieve a fast and centered spin when you get back on the ice.
The foundation of spins is so important to master before hopping onto a skate spinner. I recommend going through this video before doing spinner exercises. Let me know in the comment section below what your favorite part of today's "Skate With Michelle!" tutorial!
LET'S GET STRONG TO BECOME THE BEST SKATERS WE CAN BE!
Friendly Reminder: Please be careful when following along. If you never attempted certain elements displayed in the video, be sure to consult your figure skating coach before trying it for the first time.
    Skating Love,
    Coach Michelle

Hi Michelle - if possible please mention in your future videos what it's like for people who rotate the other direction... especially for beginners the skaters often don't understand this and those that rotate clockwise are practicing the wrong way. If you can demonstrate both ways that would be great. Thanks

@@CoachMichelleHong yes I saw that... I think most kids won't really know how to apply that concept to spins or new skills, unfortunately.

How to get past fear after sustaining a concussion from a fall on the ice. Please.

This happened to my friend and my key tip is to go at a slow pace and try to do everything to stop the muscle memory of the fall by taking it slowly but correctly so it doesn’t happen again
