After watching this I am no long afraid of scorchers. Harvesting them in burning shoers with ease. Thanks a lot, and I really love your work and effort.
I fought that scorcher guarding the cut like two days ago. Took me like an hour to take it down. Wasn't used to how much it lunges and takes so much space.
Yeah that first Scorcher is tough! Totally a different fight from anything you've run into before that. But that's why I think the Frozen Wilds is such a great DLC. They really cranked up the challenge level!
Easy way is to just sneak past it and then attack it from the high ledge above it and you can usually kill it without taking any damage, go down and loot it and then continue on to the village
@@ArktixOfficialopening with the triple precision arrows is good, but after that I would switch to the hard arrow hunter bow with damage mods. It's dps is better than the sharpshot bow and will allow you to remove the mine launcher faster. Then switch to freeze arrows, or just ropecaster and kill it with its own minelauncher :)
I absolutely agree, the scorcher is the toughest machine in horizon zero dawn. So far, fighting them was no fun for me. I hope your tips can help with that. To be honest, I feel a little stupid because I literally have a *lodge ropecaster* and I never even thought about using it against scorchers XD
Yeah they’re very tough! And honestly I think they’re frustrating for everyone at first, and maybe forever if they never find my video =P Don’t worry about it. We all forget to try out different weapons on new machines. But yeah totally utilize that Lodge Ropecaster! With some practice I’m sure you’ll be able to handle scorchers more easily soon!
@@ArktixOfficial Your tips are already paying off. The scorcher encounters today went much better than before. On one occasion, I managed to kill a lone one in a matter of seconds. That thing didn't even know what was happening to it until right before it died. It was amazing. Thank you. Fighting multiple ones is still torture though XD
I killed scorcher at the Cut.. but it did take a bit of doing. don't go to the wilds until you've got a pretty good arsenal later in the game or are playing game+ ... nice to see video for the average Joe. instead of usual ones from other youtubers using legendary weapons and so on.. Horizon is an amazing game for sure! What I don't get though is that I have most shadow weapons with a couple of good purple mods on hard difficulty about 25% (it says) in the game... Is it just me, or do players always get such cracked loot this early?
It is honestly criminal how few subscribers you have! This is so so high quality and I’m proud to be a new subscriber. You go through so much depth and use actual strategies that most people are capable of. The way I like to take care of them is by first tying them down with a rope caster, then activating their generator, then freezing them, then just spamming sticky bombs or precision arrows. Once he thaws, I pepper him with freeze arrows and rinse&repeat
Wow thank you! I only started recently, so haven’t had a chance to pick up too many subscribers yet. Thank you very much for being one of the first! I’m hoping to get some more traction with Forbidden West content. Thanks for sharing your strategy too. I always like seeing how other people do it!
Trying to beat the Cheiftans trial at hunting grounds in 4:30 for top prize. Impossible for me at moment. Two scorchers, two frost bellowbacks, then two Daeon frostclaws to finish things up. Best time so far 11:30 on easy. WTF. Will be watching all the master hunting guides.
Yeah for me Scorcher is i think the most powerful and toughest enemy in the Horizon zero dawn. Fireclaw and frostclaw is the toughest too but their movement was too predictable.
Agreed! 3 or 4 Frostclaws at once is really tough too though. I took on 4 for my Frostclaws video and it took me a while to get a clean run for the video haha
I usually used freeze and then pound it with hardpoints however I found on Very Hard difficulty you can't get it to freeze very well so I switched to hitting it with a ropecaster which stuns it and stops it's attacks and then continue until it is tied down and them pound it with the blast sling which keeps it down and stunned ...... The key is stunning it and keeping it stunned so it can't counterattack .... Also the one quest you get for the three hunters the very first part of that quest puts you at the spot with the scorcher and two longlegs so sneaking up is nearly impossible especially since you have to take out two towers which puts everything on alert and in the harder difficulties everything is alerted easier and is more aggressive ..... I think one of the more underrated parts of this game is they way they set up with difficulty levels, instead of just nerfing your DPS and protection and increasing the enemy's DPS and protection it actually changes the AI making the enemies more aggressive, more likely to gang up on you and come into the fight from a larger area and even affects detection making it harder to sneak without using one of the stealth outfits or at least a stealth weave. It makes replaying the game so much better and more interesting
I ran into that first scorcher after finishing the gravehoard mission. Died so many times, I think I just bombed him into oblivion and used up every health potion and medicianal herb I had. Went up into Song´s Edge and talked to people then went back to the main game, didn´t come back until finishing the game. Scorchers were still a problem, but not so much after the video.
Dude, your videos are so good. Was able to kill a Scorcher without being hit and I managed to dodge all his attacks too! I remember starting the DLC and I encountered a Scorcher for the first time and was like, "What the actual hell is this thing" and while I killed it, it gave me a bad bad beating. This was all on normal BTW lolol
Your guides are the best. I'm trying to get a Scorcher Heart and this strategy made it significantly easier and faster to kill them, even when there's two. I thank thee from the depths of my heart.
I would suggest after destroying the power generator to just instantly go for freezing it, but timing the freeze so that the shock timer runs out JUST before the freeze takes place (you can damage other parts of the Scorcher like the snout until the timer is roughly half empty). This gives you a small animation where the Scorcher will be locked in place, and that allows you to hit it with triple precision arrows on the cannon, dealing heavy damage to it.
Hey Sam, nice tip! I just tried it out. I have experimented with freezing them while they're shocked, but I had never tried what you suggested with waiting until the shock timer runs down a bit. I see what you mean with that. Seems like if you freeze them too early they come out of the shocked state, but they don't get the normal freeze animation that prevents them from moving briefly. But yes, like you said, if you time the freezing so that they get fully frozen just AFTER coming out of the shocked state, then you do get that animation and it gives you enough time to hit the mine launcher with 3 precision arrows. Definitely requires good timing, but if you can pull it off consistently I would agree it's a little bit better since you get the extra damage from the freeze multiplier. Thanks for sharing that!
I've noticed the snout takes a bit more damage as well. I've always assumed it was because it's close enough to their eyes. Do you think that's it, or do you think their snout really has a small damage multiplier on it?
I went back into the Firebreak facility to retrieve the Heat Sink outfit modifier during a New Game+ Ultra Hard playthrough. Got pwned by these (two) scorchers! Thanks for the tips. Subscribed...
Helpful vid. My only quibble: these boys like to ambush from time to time. They'll get you in areas where stealth isn't even an option; harder to hit the power generator that way. BUT...ropecasters are my best friend in those scenarios.
Oh man, I am watching this while getting my butt beat by that demonic scorcher at the beginning of the dlc. I am lvl 12, think I should just turn around
You could sneak by it! But yeah lvl 12 is a little bit early for the Frozen Wilds in general. It’s possible though. I went there around lvl 12 my first time.
I like destroying the power cell on the back and then hitting the tip of the snout with hardpoint arrows. It's a small target but does lots of damage and it's easy to hit while the scorcher is stunned.
I once fought the two scorchers (initially thinking it was one), with the lancehorns mingled in. Scrappers showed up mid fight with the two scorchers, battle got so crazy we pushed over into the charger area next to it and then, after taking out everything and picking up some chargers parts, a random frostclaw showed up in that area. Never seen one there before, just that day...It was a good day to die.
Was cleaning up before finishing Zero Dawn for the first time, I enjoyed it but im curious if after two years if this and forbidden west are still favorites.
I just happen to be played HZD and TFW DLC like this last week (after i got the free claim 2 years ago in PS4 but have never played it), and when I'm going to play TFW after level 45 (before sun fall mission) i saw this beast first upon entering The Cut, silly me i thought it was like Sawtooth or Ravager, i just charge towards it ready to spear-dodge like usual, but damn man, this beast attack speed and range is insane, while Sawtooth and Ravager only take 3 rope shot, this beast take at least 8 or 9 idk, i died on the first try despite the shiel weaver 😂 Man, even 3 frostclaw at the werak mission wasn't that challenging 😅
I was looking for a pigment and ran into 4 damn scorchers, it don't mark on the map but man that was scariest shit I've faced in the game I had to fast travel out of there
Their are 3 sites for them, depending on the completed level of the game. Near the cauldron. And mountain side on very hard/ultra hard they spawn more often

@LennoxPoodle You're absolutely right that the Blazon Heavy would have been better. In these videos, I try to use the lowest level gear possible to show people how effective the strategy is. My thinking is if I can show it being done with low/mid level gear on Very Hard then anyone playing on an easier difficulty and/or using better gear will be more confident they can pull it off.
@LennoxPoodle Ah that's true. Sorry, I forgot I was using Silks Heavy in this video. I tend to prefer Silks Heavy for the 3 mods slots, but yes, Blazon Heavy would be a great choice too. Depends on whether you prefer to have more resistance against melee or fire I suppose.
@@ArktixOfficial I understand the general approach, but in this case the value on one of the fire resist only coils was lower than Blazon Heavy's base value. So going with that armor and the other 2 coils would've better or equal stats in every category.
