I do not recall even hearing about this tragedy. My god. How awful. The MLB and American League need to start keeping track of the chemicals in their blood. Players tend to play with a lot of pain, and although meds are prescribed, the levels can be monitored, and should be.

As a person who had to live with an addict, I can only imagine the pain and shock because regardless of what people think sometimes it comes as a surprise because they can hide their addiction sadly for this family they found out to late, I thankful I didn’t and we could do something about it; we need to stop shaming people that get addicted to these substances and actually start treating them as people who are sick and give them the help they need and deserve, god be with his family and may he Rest In Peace 🙏🏻❤

Clearly, the two closest people to him didn't know of his drug use so how is the organization supposed to know.. Perhaps he was keeping his drug use a secret from everyone except those who were supplying him with the drugs. In any case drug addiction is devastating to family members 💔 touch by this disease.

They knew. At least the wife did. When she said she didn't know you can tell she's clearly lying. I thought at first it was because she didn't want people blaming her but then after hearing they were suing the organization, that immediately made me think less of her, and then really wonder if her husband Tyler really was this "all around amazing person" like she and the mother claim he was.

That guy is not sorry someone died ... he is sorry he got caught dealing and now his life is inconvenienced for a period of time ... oh well its was his choice to give the guy drugs and did nothing as he died because he would get in trouble

It’s absolutely possible no one but the supplier knew…. It’s very easy to lie and hide pain pill addiction especially before it has made the addict turn to street drugs like heroin because the opiates are too hard to get.. my husband hid an addiction to Percocet from me for 5 years… his addiction started because he was also a baseball player- a pitcher. He tore his rotator cuff during a game and needed surgery and was given Oxycontin for the first few days and then Percocet for the next 3 weeks… then after he should have recovered He would go to the Dr every month and get 120 Percocet pills - he told me he was going to the chiropractor every time and from his Sports medicine Dr he told me he was getting extra strength Ibuprofen but not opiates. He would take them out of the Percocet rx bottle and put it in his rx bottle for anti depressants… the only reason I discovered he was addicted is because he asked me to pick up his anti- depressants one day … I went up to the counter and said I was picking up my husband’s rx and she was on the computer and went whatever they look at and then said to me, “ well he just picked up that prescription last week so he would not have a new one today.” I asked her if she was sure and she said “ yes- he picked up 120 Percocet last week” on whatever day she said and I pretended I knew about it and asked when the previous rx had picked up before that and she said a month before- since our health insurance is through his work I never see any of the bills or details about our appointments etc… I didn’t tell him i had found out and just brought home the anti-depressant prescription. I waited until he went to the doctor the next month and went to the pharmacy to pick up his “ extra strength ibuprofen” and then looked for the rx bottle which I found hidden at the bottom of the kitchen trash and then found two anti-depressant prescription bottles one of which was full of the Percocets. I asked him to take me to dinner and then told him i knew. It actually explained many things to me- it seemed like he would have spurts of energy for two weeks and clean, and offered to make dinners, and wanted to go do things and then he would immediately become quiet, tired, grumpy and say he felt sick and like he had the flu… he had also started buying huge bottles of anti- diarrhea pills at Costco and seemed like he bought them all the time. He told me everything at dinner that night- he goes through 120 Percocet in two weeks and then withdrawals hit him and he had read online that loperamide prevented withdrawals… so he would spend two weeks until his next refill taking anti- diarrhea pills. It’s been 5 years and as far as I know he is still sober- still in recovery. He has slipped several times but he’s honest with me about it. He still requires pain pills sometimes but i go to the Dr with him and I have the rx of 5 mg Vicodins with me at all times and he has always shown me the insurance breakdown of prescriptions when ever i ask- I can tell when he’s taken a pill and he doesn’t have the two weeks long withdrawals anymore. I’m so proud of him and I try to trust him…. He hasn’t given me any reason not to. But yes - it’s absolutely possible to not know your spouse is addicted to drugs!!

This is so sad to say the least. The worst thing that you can do is not tell your family what you are dealing with, especially your spouse. It was evident that he had a problem. He was dealing with pain, drug's and alcohol and it eventually took his life. Addictions destroys so many families too often. No matter what you are dealing with, get help before something tragic happens. My prayer is that people will turn to JESUS, instead of drugs, or anything else that can hurt your life.

I believe they did know but they didn’t think it was that serious. I also don’t understand why they’re blaming everyone except Tyler. I also grew up in southern cali and dealt with depression/anxiety. I was surrounded by drugs and alcohol. So many kids at my high school would offer me pills and marijuana before it was legal. Theyd try to sell it to me. I’d tell them “no” the accountability starts with YOURSELF

A grown adult asks for what he got and the person who gave it to him had no idea it would kill him. What a joke to put that man in jail for 22 years for doing nothing. The Skaggs family should feel terrible for deflecting blame as their crutch for pain. He went to jail because the junkie was an MLB player but how about the dealers that give drugs to the other junkies? Does this mean drunks sue the liquor stores and the companies that make the liquor? Ahhh no and why should they held accountable? Did they tell people to become drunks? I’m not being insensitive I am being real and the truth hurts. That mom doesn’t looked a bit surprised to me. So he was taking pills for how long and the wife or mom didn’t notice hmm idk mood swings, sickness, withdrawal? I’m sorry he lost his life to addiction just all the millions that died. I am a recovering drunk for almost 5 years now but it is what it is. No one made me drink so I don’t blame any person or company for my own choices.

I was thinking the same 🤔 thing. Though my heart gies out to the people he left behind it was still selfish on his behalf.
The family and friends are always in denial, the family claiming they had no idea their loved one was using prescription drugs and the user claiming they didn't realize they were actually addicted to the drugs...... I was in pain and before I realized it things spiraled out of control.
I don't use drugs. I'm smart enough to not take anything that someone is getting off of the streets. I've seen too many cases like this. You don't know what these people are whipping up.
It's just like any other addiction. You risk your own life, you ruin the lives of the people who care for you and take away their livelihood.

You are conveniently overlooking the fact that the Angels front office employee provided a schedule 2 controlled substance for which the penalty is, and should be, harsh. If the penalty isn't harsh, then what is the deterrent for providing these dangerous drugs? That the player could go get them from someone else is true, but that doesn't absolve the person who provided the drugs. Secondly, anytime a user overdoses on an illegal drug, whether that user is a pro athlete or an average joe, the dealer will be held accountable. Alcohol is legal to sell by a liquor store, and the holes in your argument are obvious.

Comment is stupid, if You don't KNOW why it's newsworthy, no-one will be able to explain the reason to You.
Look up how many deaths we've had since 2019 with accidental Fentynal poisoning, b/c Fentynal is deadly and it's being put into Oxycodone pills, and even sprinkled onto Pot. Don't purchase anything from anyone on the street; don't buy stuff, even from trusted friends. Your friends don't know what's in those pills.
Skaggs thought the guy who worked for the Angels, the guy who procured the poisonous pills, the guy who watched him die; and, did nothing, was his friend.
The guy worked for the Angels; and, was also a heartless drug dealer.
He will suffer in prison; and, that will bring some justice.
THIS story may save a life.
