I remember my first card ever. It was Macys with like a $100 limit. I got red hiking boots. I think I’ve been in debt ever since! 😫 I’m finally now getting a grip and not using them any more.

See if you can downgrade that fee card to a no fee version before closing! If it’s his only card, he’d take a credit hit if his age of credit is suddenly a lot younger.

Lucky you, you have history. All of my 12 years from department of education-student loan just gone from my account. It was my only one that had history.

Ask to get the fee waived vs cancel so that his credit doesn’t take a hit. They will absolutely waive it based off the excellent history he has w/them. Thank you for sharing with us and your energy is so appreciated!

You can change your husband credit card to a no fee capital credit card. You just nerd to ask capital one to switch to one of their other no fee card..❤

I would recommend using your hubby's credit card to autopay a small bill like Netflix, and setting the auto pay to pay it off in full to not have to worry about cycling in that card into rotation if Capital One will not waive the annual fee.

Unsolicited advice, get rid of the annual fee card. His credit score will not be permanently lowered by closing it. Especially if you don’t plan to use credit anytime soon then you will have time to let the credit score bounce back. If you think you’ll be using credit in the near future wait until after making the purchase where you need a strong score and then close the account.

I had mine for like 13 years before it automatically closed last year. Came in super handy when I became a content creator. 🤣

@ oh I’m sure it did! Lol. It was a good card, however I was asking for trouble by keeping it. Great channel by the way! I really enjoy your variety and transparency in regards to budgeting.

Agree... especially if you don't use it. Though I'm confused which quicksilver has a $95 annual fee?
That being said don't upgrade your Venture card, apply for a new Venture X instead for the sign up bonus (75k miles) you don't get the bonus if you upgrade. That card still just about pays for itself with the $300 travel credit and gives 5x on travel up to 10x if you book through their travel portal.
