I enjoy open ear design for the airyness and comfort it provides. Many reviewers will talk about being able to hear your surroundings, but you can do that with transparency mode with most earbuds now. The key difference is it does not irritate your ear. Listening to in ear earbuds for hours all the time irritates my ear and makes it itchy. I own a pair of open ear and a pair of noise canceling in ear. I use open ear whenever I don't need noise canceling. If I can only pick one, I will go for the open ear. Comfort is a huge part of practicality.
Using the Aerofit Pro has helped me prevent my ear canals from getting irritated, and inflamed. I still use in-ears but being able to switch open ears once the irritation begins has been great for my ear health,.
Yes! People keep pushing this isolating themselves from the world type of thing but what they don't understand is whats the point if it's gonna make your ears sweaty and itchy after an hour or two. I remember rocking the apple wired earbuds for sooo long without feeling irritated at all, only irritation was it making my ears slightly sore for wearing it the whole day 🤣 i rather get kinda sore earlobes for wearing my earphones the whole day than getting it sweaty and itchy wearing it for an hour.
@@Zedexization Exactly! I love music, podcast and audiobooks. It tooke myself a while to figure this out too. I used to own the original air pods and I enjoyed them. But when noise cancellation earbuds with better bass came out I switched. I was blown away by the bass and enjoyed the noise cancelling magic. It took time to realize I get irritation when I use in ear buds frequently or for long durations. So I own a pair of each now. In ear for short term music enjoyment or in noisy environment, and open ear for everything else. I carry both pairs of ear buds in my backpack everyday too. Made my life much more enjoyable.
I have the originals and they're incredible. What people and TECH REVIEWERS fail to understand and therefore criticize is their intended use. These are practically in a category to themselves and expecting them to perform like anything outside of that category is just a fools Journey.
yeah I always disliked when people mentioned bass like that's not the point of the product lol, I love my Linkbuds S but I only use it on transparency so I basically live without bass when it comes to TWS
exactly! what they deliver, I like to think of it as ambient music. I have a pair of sony linkbuds for 90% of my music intake, and the other 10%, where I want to disconnect from the world and listen to high quality audio, I have earphones for that.
I agree with so many other commenters yes, it's not for everyone however, for the type of people it's meant to, it is fairly decent. I have an office job where I have to be alert at all times. I have the original version and I'm very happy with it. The only problem was that the battery did not last a full day. The new one should last a full day so that's an upgrade for me. Pure and simple. The rest is just a plus which I appreciate on its own merit, but for the type of people this is designed for it's a no-brainer. I don't think there's anything else close to it
Had a similar situation but the rubber fit wasnt for me. Thankfully i got them on amazon so i got my mone back but ill be looking forwarsto try these new ones
I notice that most reviewers who talk about open-ears usually look annoyed at talking about them. It is important to note that sound quality is not the same as in-ears, but that does not mean sound is bad or that it is average; you are still comparing them to in-ears. Walking outside in a busy street, or a subway, and complaining how you hear every sound is missing the point entirely. You don't wear open-ears to isolate yourself, it is more like having the radio (I listen to online radio with them) or speakers you can carry around. For testing, reviewers should try doing regular everyday tasks rather than posing with them on busy streets and then look annoyed by them not isolating sound. The Aerofit Pro are great, for open-ears, the Nothing (Open) are great, for open-ears, the Linkbuds Open, are great...for a pair of open-ears. 😁
I don't live in a crazy noisy city and I need to be able to hear stuff at all times because of my work and family. I have the og linkbuds and consider them to be an amazing product. When they crap out, ill upgrade to these.
I love the original linkbuds and am still using it to date.. i think the new version is for people who had issues fitting the original one, which isnt the case for me... What is stopping me from upgrading is the size of the case. I love how small the original linkbuds case is and u can really just drop it in the pocket and sometimes forget about it. ( i got the Nothing Open too and those actually sound more open than the linkbuds... only thing is the hook does irritate my ears(the part where the hook touches) after long duration, especially when u walk and it kinda moves around when you sweat)
I loved the earlier version of this donut until sony broke it's battery after a firmware update. Would probably wait for feedback if this doesn't have similar battery drain issues.
I have the originals and they're one of the best things that ever happened to me. I carry the link buds and the Razer hammerhead hyperspeed earbuds and I just swap between them depending on the environment. Places I have to be well aware of my surroundings, link buds. In places where I'm trying to block out everything around me, I used the hammerheads. These new revisions absolutely solve almost every nitpick I previously had. And I'm glad they're still working on and innovating this product. But seriously everyone who comments about and not enough base really misunderstands the point of this product. Lol
1:48 - I own the original LinkBuds, and this is the feature I love the most. I usually use these for ski. between the helmet, whatever ear muffler, and gloves controlling music is an ass experience. Either you hope that voice works, or you buy overpriced Bluetooth controllers. They also come with custom actions that are actually useful. I set mine to pause for single, skip for double, and Google Assistant Notification readout for triple. This has made my ski sessions into a nice relaxing downhill experience.
I have two sets of the originals and will definitely be getting a set of this new model. I refuse to use anything but open ear buds and these are the best. Love the tap controls.
I have the originals, and I love them. I am on my third pair (one fell victim to the washing machine, and the other had a defective battery that I used a warranty claim to swap out). All other earbuds make me feel claustrophobic when I have both earbuds in. These hole gets rid of that feeling entirely.
I returned my nothing opens, but the unsecure fit on my ears was too annoying after a while, I'm hoping I find the perfect open tws or else I'll have to find a transparency mode better than my Linkbuds S
I was waiting for the second gen of these since I really liked the others but there were a few things I was hoping they changed: more battery and wireless charging. So far, only the first one was changed, I still find it very disappointing that only a few of Sony's earbuds have wireless charging when it should be the standard already. I love the way these look in purple.
I've sworn off buying any more earphones like this unless they have tracking inbuilt into the case. They have the tech (smarttag), and I've literally duct taped one to the original linkbuds. Reviews so far seem like the microphone is a decent step down but will have to wait for better tests.
Advise,, declaring "the problem with the open earbuds is that they dont have noise cancelattion", is like saying this car is bad because it doesn't fly, that's exactly why I am buying them for and everyone who don't like to the sealing sensation of other earbuds, it seems you wanted to say something bad just for the sake of it.
I got the first gen for work. They had an incredible noise isolating mic and left my ear open for calls. Do you guys not do microphone quality tests? They're in the written review but your mic tests won't reflect real world usage. The previous version of these and many new buds have a voice pickup unit. That's typically a bone conduction unit that helps with mic performance. They then use a ML/AI algorithm to isolate your voice. Playing a voice through a speaker isn't the same so you're only using the acoustic isolation.
Can you guys recommend noise cancelling headphones that are comfortable for someone who wears glasses and under 150$ and that can be used to sleep if possible, and good grip. Tryna get a gift for my friend
I got these so I could have the luxury of having both earbuds in at work to have a full stereo image lol my biggest gripe with them isn’t even the earbuds themselves, it’s the case. it is suuuuper cheap feeling and unlike a pair of AirPods, the structural integrity almost feels like next to nothing
I had the original link buds, and they did leak sound a teensy bit in a quiet room when I turned them up. Only one person ever noticed and commented on it to me though. Most people wouldn't notice.
Thanks for the forecast! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
@thecrowfliesceooked I agree with you completely. I absolutely love my old link buds and uses them way more than my xm5. I had them for 11 months and the batteries are over heating now. Is the only reason I might not get the new ones. Soundsguy thank you for reviewing. I actually work I need to be alert of my surroundings and love them for this.

the originals were just too quiet for me and fell out of my ears. can't wait for best buy to get them back in stock so i can try them out.
Since the originals are on sale, would you say buy the originals or is it worth getting the new Open Linkbuds?
@@Adachie personally I would buy the originals without having tried the new ones.

The reason I returned my first donut is that the ring hurts my ear. If probably if a bit smaller or with rubber I might consider it again
Need some Munchkin-sized earbuds, I respect that. 🫡

I loved the original open linkbuds! I think I might pass on the 200$ price tag for the new ones though😵💫
I had terrible connection issues outside with multiple pairs of the first gen. And the battery died after about a year. Am I alone?
I had the same problems will you be getting this years new pair
same problems with battery not holding the charge after 14-16 months
Curious how these would work for cycling. My standard AirPods are difficult to use because of high wind noise. The wind is worse when I have them in.
I returned my nothing opens, but the unsecure fit on my ears was too annoying after a while, I'm hoping I find the perfect open tws or else I'll have to find a transparency mode better than my Linkbuds S

You should probably stop reviewing open earbuds if you cannot grasp the concept of they are and what they are not.

Apple air pods 4 anc seem like a better deal than these. Their features are great, they sound ok and their anc is impressive as non in ear earbuds.
They're completely different things tho

Agreed, the first gen mics are fantastic. From what I'm seeing so far these are not as good

slapping yourself to change the music track? nice.
Do they leak sound??
I had the original link buds, and they did leak sound a teensy bit in a quiet room when I turned them up. Only one person ever noticed and commented on it to me though. Most people wouldn't notice.
I had the originals and only in a very quiet room at +90% volume
*doughnut 🍩

Transition sound effects every 3 seconds and every scene switch??? Come on that’s annoying
