Something is just so disturbing about how such a large ship went to deeper depths than the titanic in just an hour and a half. It’s scary how many other ships may have met the same fate without us knowing.
Thanos told us in his narration for the video that Bismarck took 10 minutes to hit the sea floor, 15,000+ feet deep. Three hours was only for the video cameras for filming the wreck.
It's a myth that main gun turrets and barbets were only held by gravity. If that was the case, the turret would dislodge and bind from firing thrust all directed in one direction. While they were held secure, the massive weight easily overcame these supports when upended.
The strength of the locking mechanisms varies wildly though...German WW1 and british in general held the turrets quite nicely..For their WW2 designs german apparently to tried saving atleast a little weight...including weakening the turret locks :D
The most evil part the survivors that managed to survive the bismarck werent rescued and they were left to die into the mercy of the water due to the british ships getting a uboat alarm and low on fuel only 100+ was sadly rescued and 2 of those got to see the wreckage 90 years later
Sinking ships do not pull you under, this is a long debunked myth that refuses to die. Before you will say I am wrong and you are right because some instructor once told you so, think twice and do some research...
Air pockets can still suck you in. It’s well documented in the sinking of the Lusitania that people near the ship got sucked into the funnels as it sank.
Also, Admiral Hackett in Mass Effect series. Great actor, great character. And, if my memory serves me well, he also appears in Terminator, I don't remember his character there though.

I know these animations aren't meant to be hollywood quality, but the Bismark didn't remotely look that good when she finally sank. They shelled the hell out of it, the ship itself was a raging pyre, the hull was full of holes, the bridge collapsed, fires in the hull were burning so hot, the bow was glowing and every time the waves splashed on it, the water would turn to steam.
Her wreck is the most fascinating because, unlike the other ship wrecks, Bismarck is still intact, with only her weapons missing. She can be pulled out of water and be restored if possible.

Yeah, it was only because it was one the only German battleships. It pretty much did nothing other then destroying the world war 1 era Hood then got bullied by the Royal Navy
It was scuttled, but according to the investigations, it would sunk even without scuttling though it would take much more time. The reason why Germans scuttled is that they didn't want British to get their hands on Bismarck. After all Bismarck lost all her ability to shoot at the end.
@@Madmiata79 actually your wrong… there was no prove the Bismarck was scuttled. I researched the Bismarck’s story for a long time and it turns out that fight. It was all the British because all the hits were causing the Bismarck to sink. The Dorsetshire’s torpedos were the final killing blow to make the Bismarck capsize and go down
@@BellaZuikaku4785 except for the fact that the documentary where this animation came from also proved that Dorsetshire's torpedoes didn't damage the torpedo bulkheads whatsoever and there was only a handful of armor belt penetrations. What the british were doing in the battle was less contributing to the ships sinking than it was just killing sailors and removing its ability to fight back. Sure, she was as good as dead by the time the scuttling charges went off, and it's completely fair to give the british the credit for sinking her, but they didn't exactly deal the final blow.
I just can’t help but imagine a singular pocket of a pressurized room or sealed off area within these vessels. I mean imagine actually surviving long enough to experience all of that and then as it comes to a rest realize that you’re impossibly deep with no chance of rescue or leaving.
