I'm so glad that you two have the same thoughts that I have been having since that 'infamous' deal was announced! Surely neither party is stupid and the deal is good for both of them. Let's wait and see!

Y’all are the first to have an actual objective opinion over this. So many people are so mad about this deal but they have zero clue was actually in the contract. And you’re also right they weren’t gonna get any more money because no one else was coming to the table with more money. She is going to be fine. Lol. Comparison to other shoe contracts, she has the biggest contract a woman basketball players ever had. I don’t see how that’s a bad thing.

I think what most people are mad at is the fact that Nike is not out with a CC shoe yet on the market while her marketability is red hot. We are seeing that with the Wilson balls that gets sold out as soon as they are being put on the website to be sold to the public. Because no matter what the percentage is even if it’s 100% of 0 sales it will still give 0 at the end of the day. I think this is where you can argue that the agent has done a poor job at protecting her client interest in not having an exit clause stating that if you don’t have a clothing, shoe, accessories line by those dates you pay us that much for the year and we reserve the right to go sign with an other shoe/apparel manufacturer of our choosing.

What we do know is Nike hasn’t promoted her at all, they had opportunities to promote her at the LPGA they didn’t. They had an opportunity the whole entire season to promote her in the WNBA and they didn’t. This is a DEI company and you gotta remember she’s a straight white woman not really what anybody is looking for. No matter what star power she has don’t believe me look at Bud Light

@@marthamadrid6100 I love the assumption that Nike would not be looking to do business with THE most popular female athlete….just because she’s white and straight? 😂 You do realize that Nike is a for-profit global corporation trying to make money, right? Do they lean left politically? Of course, just like Chick-Fil-A leans to the right. But you also have to remember that Caitlin loves Nike, has a long standing relationship with them, and agrees with their politics….so it’s not like some weird pairing that either side didn’t want to do.

@@marthamadrid6100Nike gave her a gold bottom golf shoe, don’t know if it’s available to the public. She was wearing Nikes when she was playing with Lexie. But yea I’ll agree they have not promoted her, I think they are trying to push Aja right now.

I think Wilson is selling T-shirts for her. I know they have basketballs they have socks. I have a bunch of things to promoting her with. State Farm is promoting her with multiple commercials. Gatorade has a commercial featuring Caitlin Clark. Everybody was at the LPGA tournament promoting the shit out of Caitlin Clark, except Nike. She has so many other companies that are taking advantage of promoting her. It’s ridiculous but she’s getting money. She’s getting paid have Nike wants to pay just for the hell of it. Of course she’s not gonna complain.

Shes representing Nike for 28 million, and not every contract with a shoe deal has a percent of profit from those shoe sales! Back when Michael Jordan signed with Nike, he and his agent made the decision to go with a percent of sales rather than a one time payment! Charles Barkley was getting ready to sign with Nike and MJ talked Chuck into signing a deal with a percentage of sales like MJ did! Chuck said recently that he is still getting paid for that contract now. Youre right, nobody knows whats in her contract, INCLUDING whether or not a percentage of sales is even in it! It could just be 28m spread over 8 years!

NIKE AND CC AGREED TO LET HER SHOE COME OUT FIRST AND ALLOW HER A YEAR TO HAVE HER SHOE FAIL TO SELL SO WHEN CC's SHOES COME OUT AND IMMEDIATELY SELL OUT, A'ja WONT BE ABLE TO CRY AND COMPLAIN ABOUT IT!

EVERY top athlete gets points on their shoes. You did not reveal some massive fact here. The deal is bad because of the up-front amount which was extremely low--and for the fact that Nike has harmed CC in not supporting or promoting her as a player of her stature should be. This is NOT rocket science, guys.

There is a strong possibility that Nike wants to get the Aja Wilson stuff out of the way FIRST because they know releasing the CC brand at the same time will hurt whatever investment in the Aja brand. They could even be working on CC brand with a dedicated team keeping it strictly under wraps until Aja Wilson’s gear is released. They know if they don’t push Aja’s brand before CC she could probably sue Nike. So who knows. Nike is good about reading the market based on that Nike movie.

    • @chhansen9813

Its not going to "hurt" the A'ja wilson shoe, A'ja Wilsons shoes will be a FLOP, and CC didnt want to embarrass her when CC's shoes all sell out in record time, over and over again! A'ja is a race baiting activist who started calling nike racists, which is absurd, but CC and Nike agreed to put CC's shoes on the backburner! Also, so CC's flagrant fouls on her wouldnt increase! CC is a wonderful person!

  • @Kingtylerqlb

Its a terrible contract because its only 3.5 mio per annum and its for 8 years which is extremly long which is bad for CC. There where other offers on the table the best from Under Armor, 4 mio per annum and 4 years long with a signature shoe. The best thing would have been she said no and market her likeness herself for the first year. Now she is in a position of power and could negotiate a +100 mio deal around 15 mio per annum. Btw Nike did not promote her at any rate the hole season and also there was no merch, so no cut for her! I would try to get out of this deal now or at least renogotiate. Her show is planned to come out in 2026 or later, so Nike said... Malpractice at its best.
