Tissot Gentleman, bought it in my first year of my watchmaking apprenticeship and basically wear it every day. Super reliable and I only have to reset the time every few weeks. Only downside it that you can't adjust the bracelet on the fly.
My explorer 36 has been my grail and I finally awaited it a few months ago. Wear it every day in all settings. It’s so versatile and basically a perfect watch (for me)
I agree with your criteria completely, especially "the simpler the better". In my case my two GADA watches are a Rolex Submariner no date and a solar Casio G-Shock. Great video.
I daily a Sinn U50 SDR for quite some time now. Even if it is not the dressiest diver, the slim case makes it easy to fit under a cuff. I wear it every gym and run session and even to important meetings at work. As a German engineer I think it is a fitting watch.
I’m a union ironworker here in the US, work on motorcycles and cars for hobby, and I used to always be trying out, buying and selling different watches waiting for the right one to come along. One day I bought a brand new Pelagos 39, that day was 2 years ago and the 39 has been on my wrist since. I’ve sold all my other watches, including my 36mm explorer and North Flag, and the 39mm Pelagos has been my “g-shock” essentially since then. Wear it to do everything, work, showers, sleep, it’s always on wrist, and I never worry about scratching it, it’s just along for the ride. Watch still looks great despite being well used and broken in. And I think the titanium looks great all distressed
Thank you for your feedback. I was deciding between the Pelagos 39 and an Explorer 36. Can I ask you why the Pelagos? Lighter along with a timing bezel was your deciding factor? Thanks
For me, living in a country where rain is a constant companion, a slim diver with date complication does it for me - 90s midsize Seamaster, 90s Sea Dweller, currently fit the bill.
I would be nervous the whole time using a Patek as a field watch. Lol. But my vote goes for Explorer I, Black Bay 58, Hamilton Khaki, Longines Spirit, and IWC Pilot as GADA watches.
My GADA would be the Formex Reef GMT, I guess. at least it already accompanies me more than my other pieces for a long time. Built sturdy, a unique design - and looking at the dial, indices etc. still makes me think "wow, what a nice watch". At the same time it is so changeable with the quick-features for strap and bezel. And I love that I can have the GMT but apply a diving bezel for everyday timing things - in fact, that is my configuration *all* the time. "This watch, that watch" recently found that they indeed should be pricier for what they are and I must say it packs a good punch, comparing it to my Longines HC which is still very good. Such a brilliant piece!
Gotta say this, a GADA watch should have a date function. The reason why I sold both my Explorer 1 and OP39. I know people may disagree, but a time only watch just doesn't work from me as a GADA watch. An Aqua Terra is GADA watch. For the same reason, the Daytona or Speedmaster Professional doesn't cut it either. A dive watch with a date is probably the best GADA out there. The 8500 and 8900 movement Omegas with their time zone function add even more functionality without complicating the dial. An AT or PO probably best of all. Take your pick, these two really are the toppers for GADA watches. The IWC Mk XX comes a close second. The strap changes are a plus but the time zone function absence leave Omega free and clear for me.
It’s a good point. A versatile watch is also probably a daily wearer, and after the first 24 hours, a little wrist watch reminder of the date is something that I find useful.
Planet Ocean 2500 42mm. On the rubber strap for out and about & on the bracelet for more serious or formal settings. Can't go wrong with this one, it's both fun & formal 😎
The Sinn, Longines, IWC, and Hamilton get my vote. I might be so inclined to throw the Rolex Explorer II into the mix. Great vid presentation as always. Thanks
Such an interesting subject, right? We could have such a mixed view of what defines "GADA" these days. But anything that has that "field watch-ish" streak...Ah, it's a gem 🥃 My pleasure sharing this brother!
My daily wear (when I’m not at my messy job…then it’s the classic G-Shock 5600) is a Seiko Alpinist Ginza (a limited edition version from a few years back) still love that thing. It’s almost the perfect watch. But my favorite here is the Longines Spirit you used in the thumbnail. Love to add that to the collection at some point 🙂
I'm going on a road trip to some remote places in Nevada in two weeks and I was thinking about which GADA watch to wear. After watching your video I've decided I want to be able to change straps daily to give it a different look. That eliminates my watches with bracelets. I also have several watches with blue dials but I have only one matching French military strap. Additionally, I want to wear an automatic and that further reduces my choices to the Seiko SARB017 Alpinist, Seiko SNK809, and (gasp) RDUNAE Captain Willard homage. Thank you for helping me narrow down my choices for a GADA watch on this trip.
Excellent breakdown to the GADA umbrella of watches. I have the Seiko Alpinist 1959 Laurel reinterpretation and Hamilton Khaki auto. Both great watches. I also picked up two San Martin Tudor homages - BB36 and Ranger
For me its the older Aqua Terra Railmaster, I really see it as Omega's best GADA, an AT with a more minimal and sporty dial and hand set. The reference 2504.52 in the classic 36mm size being the best of them all. It's as if Omega made an Explorer.
The Sinn 556i-RS is my GADA. Built like a tank. Accurate, reliable and serviceable movement. Clean, uncluttered design. Perfect size. 200M water resistance. Fair price. Not just a strap monster, but a chameleon. On the bracelet it is the quintessential sports watch. On a leather strap it becomes an elegant dress piece.
Spirit Ti 40, a purist no date, from your thumbnail is actually my daily wear, understated, yet when you go in the dial and the applied numerals and when you swap between longines prop "nato" and bracelet... it just goes well with both
As always another flawless episode - I have two what I would call GADA watches even though they are both very different - The blue teak dial Omega Aqua Terra and the traditional opal one dial Cartier Santos
Great idea to do a video on the GADA watch. I am wearing my Khaki Field Auto 38mm as I watch this and agree it fits this category very well. One surprise here - no Omega Seamaster 300 or Diver. The AT was presented here, but I actually think it leans too dressy to be in this category and think James Bond had a right to some extent that the Seamaster Diver, 300, or Planet Ocean meet this category well. I say this as someone who wore a Planet Ocean 42mm 2500 caliber for 10 years before selling it.... a move I regret to this day. Well done, ID_Guy!
Well said Marc, I deliberately kept the more "complex" pieces out of the equation (for once 😆) Agree for me I'd be needing a bezel for my daily choice. I use it for timing virtually everything. And that PO you sold... man... that's a piece that does it all. Such an interesting subject to delve into, right? We could be arguing what defines GADA until we're red in the face ;)
amzwatch You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
You nailed it. Great selection. IWC or AT at most, but pre-owned, as too pricey imho. Sinn. Longines. Hamilton. All great. Oris Divers 😊65 too, I would add. All good. Patek is a lot for a GADA - not wearing that while doing the supermarket shopping or lighting the BBQ.
I have 4 of the watches in this video and I agree with your opinion. From my collection, these are the ones I use the most. Tudor Black Bay, a tank, Nomos Neomatic Clud, super versatile, Omega Aquaterra, fits any occasion and the Longines Spirit Titanium, one of my favorites.
Agree and a great summary. Mine are the IWC Mk XVI, Murph 38 and and a 36mm CW C63 Sealander. And awaiting the call on the 36mm Explorer. I find that as I got more interested in watches, I’ve gravitated to simpler pieces.
This is now my favourite watch channel on RUclips , such great content and done superbly, well done sir and I got my favourite watch at MaMaCoo,it hasn’t left my wrist for weeks
Totally agree with these definition. I think a GADA watch has to look good anywhere and anytime. I think the best example could be the Datejust. Thanks brother for the great video.
Rolex Explorer. First luxury watch I bought and it still 100% fits the requirement. Have expanded the collection since then (JLC Reverso, Daytona, Tudor FXD) but the foundation will always be the Explorer because it is suitable for every occasion. I've taken it up 5000+ meter mountains, dived with it and worn it at formal occasions and it always fits in perfectly.
Unpopular answer, but my pick is the GS SBGJ237 midnight GMT. 200m water resistance, triple time zone GMT, surprisingly wearable. Beach to snorkeling to boardroom to night out to air travel. Has taken significant time in the rotation from the GADA king, 14270.
It’s funny to think of a PP Aquanaut as a GADA, as I usually think of them as being tough tool watches first, but I actually agree with you. I can’t argue that point! Well done.
@@ID-Guy Before this video, I would have laughed at the suggestion that any PP could be a GADA, but you put forth your argument, and I was persuaded. And Yes, I wish we could all have one.
For me, in no particular order: - Cartier Tank - Hamilton Murph - Aqua Terra new black lacquer dial - Black Bay 54 - IWC Mk collection - Grand Seiko SBGW231 - Grand Seiko Snowflake - Sub no date - Explorer 36 1016 - Moser Pioneer Centre Seconds - Longines Conquest
@@lamentate07 a GADA is something that is personal to you. I’m a family dr, don’t get my hands dirty and don’t go diving or getting my hands very wet. A cartier is the perfect GADA for me because I’m never going to be in a situation where I truly ‘do anything.’ So it’s relative not absolute.
The most important criteria is to look at the dial and ask if it can look elegant at a swanky restautant and also in-place on a mountain hike. After that, sports style yes, also swimming pool proof so 100m WR please. As much as i love my Hamilton Khaki Automatic, a full dial of numbers doesnt make it dressy enough for the opera. That applies to the Aquanaut as well. FWIW I have one GADA in the box, from a minor Swiss brand called Epos. Fits in all the above and they do great dials. Nice vid, IDG.
Excellent choices. My money went towards the AquaTerra and Explorer 1, but as I was watching the video the non-diver black bay really stood out to me as the top contender. I am for sure team date window, but I routinely buy watches without them. I like the function of a date, but the dial symmetry without one sure is appealing. Great video as always!
As always another great video. My G.A.D.A. watch is the Seiko Alpinist SPB 241. Nice specs, certainly can fly under the radar, comfortable to wear. Sneak it under a suit, would not be terrible, but jeans and khakis is where the watch lives.
Hi, for many years there was only one watch for me that was legit to claim the throne of GADA - the Omega Aqua Terra! But a few months ago I began thinking of a rival within the brand. I’m speaking about the almost forgotten Constellation Globemaster. The first Master Chronometer in history of mankind! Less bling, better hands, the unscratchable tungsten bezel and the possibility to dress it up or down with several strap option makes for a nearly perfect GADA in my opinion. The MSRP seems to be a little sporty but I bet you’ll get a decent discount from your AD. Or buy grey or slightly used to get the best bang for buck. Best wishes, Claus
Excellent production as ever, and had a wry smile when Sinn pitched up at the start. The reality is that I'd not wear any of these fine pieces while mending the tractor in a wet Scottish field in the dark, so it's easy to shoot down the GADA concept.
If it was me mending a tractor in the wet mud? I'd probably be wearing my FXD (tends to always be on when I'm working on the car) 😆 Great point to think about how a watch would factor in 🥃
Man. Beautiful. I'm getting a Citizen Promaster Tough next week. The "Ray Mears ".... I'll wear it while i save for my IWC Mark XX or Spitfire... Having said that, a guy recently said to me that if the Citizen is my daily, it means i can save up for a really special watch that doesn't have to be able to do it all. Something i actually will treasure, while the Citizen does the daily jobs.. I'm not sure if a one watch gada is possible for me.. but id like to think that it is.... and it may be an IWC
I have the Citizen Tough watch also on a bracelet with microadjustment. If you can think about GADA and quartz at the same time then the Citizen Tough is hard to beat. ( 300m )
My GADA search was simple -on one end of the spectrum, I need a watch that will look good with business casual attire (I am not expecting an invite to a dinner party with kings and presidents :)), on the other hand, it needs to survive multi-day trips to the mountains, resist sweat, dust, casual dips in water (and I mean dips, not swimming or diving). And all night lume is not optional. After many failed attempts I landed on Erebus Ascent with black enamel dial and I can't find a reason to go anywhere else, tbh (unless Jody delivers 41mm version that will blow me away :) but, surprisingly, I start to get used to smaller watches in my old age :) ).
I bought a watch from amzwatch lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.
And the more I've looked into it, I've learnt it has a 30m WR... one huge issue that they never addressed with this generation Aquanaut? Non-hacking seconds. Using the same base caliber they included in the Calatrava and earlier Nautilus. It kinda goes against the whole "field watch" aesthetic in a way because they all defined themselves by having stop seconds (for obvious reasons) BUT saying that... still a freaking killer watch that none of us would pass on 😉🥃
@ID-Guy Patek changed their water resistance ratings recently and all their watches can actually be taken to 30m beneath sea level. It's a huge upgrade and I think Omega is the only other brand that guarantees their wr rating can actually be used at the distance claimed.
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from amzwatch I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
Hanhart Preventor 9 is a wildly overlooked daily wearer. It ticks all the spec boxes and has a design and style all its own. It looks fantastic on the 7 link bracelet.
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the MaMaCoo, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
Cartier Santos deserves a place on this list! Heritage, wearability, strap change, screw down crown the list goes on. Bracelet for when you’re out and about. 1 second to skap it on a strap for the evening. That said, I sold mine for the mark xx and havent really looked back😅
I have the 42mm Longines Spirit and it is definitely a perfect GADA. I'm basically down to using just 4 pieces from my entire collection of 50+. The Longines, Hamilton Jazzmaster and Cooper and my latest favourite my SKXMOD modded Casio Royale which is another perfect GADA. I really need to start selling lots of pieces 😂
I loved the caveat you slipped in at the end when talking about the Aquanaut "..unless you're a watch person" - before you got drowned out by everyone's replies!!😆 Great vid again, some awesome "boring" watches (boring watches being my favourite type!!)
Definitely wasn't planned including the Aquanaut as the go-to choice... can't even remember the last time I covered the watch on the channel... maybe 3 - 4 years ago? 😆 Thank you as always Dom (I'm also a sucker for the blandest, most boring pieces) 🥃
GADA to me = beater watch. A watch you like, cheaper, rugged, you don’t have to worry about losing it. For me, that’s my travel watch. When travelling, it’s so great to have a watch that you just don’t have to worry about losing, that doesn’t make you a target (so, understated is important as well), and that you know will keep on ticking no matter the abuse you give it or the “roads” you travel. That’s been my Victorianox for the last 15 years or so.
All good options IDGuy. I would add another and that would be the Omega Constellation Globemaster Pie Pan dial ref 130.33.39.21.03.001. To me it really is the best GADA that I have.
Understated down to the last detail. I'm still waiting to pop my Sinn cherry... something tells me it's going to happen soon. They just never seem to disappoint 🥃
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from amzwatch
I recently acquired the 36mm newest explorer. The first time I saw it 6 months ago, it looked tiny. Then the BB54 became my second luxury my watch ever. First was sapphire speedy. I found myself loving the size of the 54, so then I decided to put myself on the list for the 36mm explorer. To my surprise I got a call only 2 weeks later. So now that I have it, I think it mostly covers everything here in the video except for price. It’s still a $7.2k USD watch, but design wise. It’s there. There’s the 40mm for those who prefer bigger. To me the 36mm is great and I have some minor scratches already from us, which well.. I suppose it is what it is. 😅 but honestly, I want to wear the thing everywhere. I think it even looks good on gym clothes haha
I would definitely call my ocean Deep blue Alpinist"MY" G.A.D.A. watch! but I appreciate all the other opinions, They're very interesting and informative. Thanks!
I fckn love them man... Gloss dial, no faux anything. Bought the black 32mm variant for mum a year or two ago and she wears it daily. When I manage to get it in my hands and hold it next to the Explorer? Yeah... 1/5th of the price and still running +1 🔥
I‘m eyeing an IWC Pilot 36 right now. Already owning a Sinn 556i and Longines HydroConquest and Dolce Vita and a G-Shock I think I’m done - at least for today.
The 36mm's of theirs are so under the radar... I wish they'd promote (and produce) more up-to-date 37mm pieces in this category. It seems anything less than 39mm's and IWC steers clear from them 😆 Thank you for this! 🥃
The first thing that popped into my head was a Sinn, and the 556 is a good choice - I daily-wear an 856 UTC and don't care what happens to it (and its hardened steel doesn't show any wear regardless.). All that said, I don't think you can really dress it up and the 556 is a little more elegant. I think a Rolex Explorer 40 is perfect. You can wear it virtually anywhere, it doesn't cost *too* much, and the patina it will get will make it even more interesting.
When I was working/at sea my 1982 issued CWC G10 was my GADA. That watch took some punishment and survived to be passed onto my eldest grandson. Who this Septembre is about to embark on his military career. Now I've come ashore I seem to have a monthly GADA piece. Currently it's my Longines Conquest which I have a sneaking suspicion will run into it's second month on my wrist. But I think price is the biggest factor for a GADA watch for me, it's how much you can afford to put into that piece and feel comfortable with all that Life will throw at it.
My current GADA: Traska Venturere GMT. Relatively affordable, elegant, sporty, water resistance, steel hardening process, comfortable claps with quick adjust, I can travel (GMT) anywhere and not be worried. The only problem is availability.
True story, I ran into an elderly guy completely out of the blue on a trail once last summer (walking a St Bernard) we get chatting about the dog, weather etc. I spot a Submariner looking piece on his wrist under the sleeve, domed crystal, no cyclops... then a notice a flash of red... "is that 1680 Submariner?" I ask... "Oh, I had a really beautiful one with the single line in the 70's but I swapped it for this about 10 years ago" ...DRSD, freshly serviced, looking so, so clean 🔥
@@ID-Guy two years ago I went to the beach with a close friend of mine, who is also really into watches, I was wearing an inexpensive Seiko, perfect for that situation, when I realized he was still wearing his JLC Master Ultra thin Perpetual Calendar 😳😳😵 he usually wears at the office. He wasn't affraid at all since he didn't plan to swim or build sand castles, telling me watches are no meant to be babysitted.... For his next birthday I bought him a Citizen telling him "let me introduce you to the summer watch concept" 😆😅.
For me, a GADA would always need to have a timing bezel. I am frequently timing tasks in my daily life, and its intuitive. Its such a frequent need that no matter how often i try to wear other watches, i keep coming back to divers and GMTs.
@garyboyle695 it's not. The minutes counter on a chrono is harder to read than a dive bezel at a glance. Chronos are better for timing things to the second though.
Working as a physician in a jail, I’d say the first 4 that you mention are true GADA. The Omega, Rolex and PP can be spotted 50 meters away by expert eyes. They aren’t attracted by a 556 or Club Campus
EXCELLENT criteria! I've also looked to High Accuracy Quartz as a solid addition to GADA watch. Not that I think mechanical watches are inherently fragile, but a quartz watch can take a beating in a way mechanical watches can't completely match. Look no further than Marathon or Grand Seiko for examples.
Mon - Fri Hamilton Karki field (white) I'm an electrician. Weekend pottering about - Tissot PRX 80 (green) Out and about with the wife - BB58 or Big eye (ti) Going somewhere posh - Globemaster. What a complicated life some of us lead with our relationship with watches. Wouldn't change it though 😂
This is a great list Of course a ‘GADA’ watch will be different for different people. Office workers vs manual labourers vs sports people etc But overall considering the thousands of choices available I think this list is superb. My top 3 choices would be the 556, the Rolex op and the mark xx
I recently got one. Black dial with the date. Wearing it on a NATO right now. Love the long power reserve. Wish it had internal anti-reflective coating. Apparently you can’t regulate it either although mine is keeping great time so not a problem

Gotta be my Casi-Oak
I agree on the Longines Spirit. I own the 37mm version and Ive always said that it would make an excellent GADA watch.

I would say the Tudor Ranger fits the GADA philosophy better than the Black Bay. It's ridiculously underrated.
I bought it upon release. Best decision ever. Classic old rolex explorer with an updated movement essentially.
@@lammyjammer6670 Ranger 💕🔥
The Sinn 556i-RS is my GADA. Built like a tank. Accurate, reliable and serviceable movement. Clean, uncluttered design. Perfect size. 200M water resistance. Fair price. Not just a strap monster, but a chameleon. On the bracelet it is the quintessential sports watch. On a leather strap it becomes an elegant dress piece.
Watches are so delicate and intricately designed, so I have intense respect and admiration for amzwatch watch makers
@@ID-Guy totally agree
I have a few. Omega AT, BB58 and a couple of micros like Zelos Aurora, Lorca GMT and Smiths Everest 47 whose design you helped tweak.
Yes! I had just put on my 556ib, had that exact thought about it, and then your video appears! My Sinn is tough and handsome, truly GADA
amzwatch You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
Wearing my Seiko Alpinist Reimagined. Gray sunburst dial. Glad you featured it.
The GADA I have is the IWC Mark XX.
I've been looking at adding a Mark XX again and again and again... what a cool piece man! 🥃
I love the Longines Spirit Titanium watch! Definitely on my list of Grail Watches
Well done.
Fascinating to think, right? Not our typical "go to" at all 😆 Oh, what a world it would be if we could all wear a PP Aquanaut as a daily...
@@ID-Guy Before this video, I would have laughed at the suggestion that any PP could be a GADA, but you put forth your argument, and I was persuaded. And Yes, I wish we could all have one.
For me, in no particular order:
- Cartier Tank
- Hamilton Murph
- Aqua Terra new black lacquer dial
- Black Bay 54
- IWC Mk collection
- Grand Seiko SBGW231
- Grand Seiko Snowflake
- Sub no date
- Explorer 36 1016
- Moser Pioneer Centre Seconds
- Longines Conquest

Cartier watches are not GADA candidates at all. They scream luxury.
So happy to know that the Alpinist gets love in this category! Man Seiko produces some beauties 🔥
Hi,
for many years there was only one watch for me that was legit to claim the throne of GADA - the Omega Aqua Terra!
Best wishes,
Claus
Excellent production as ever, and had a wry smile when Sinn pitched up at the start. The reality is that I'd not wear any of these fine pieces while mending the tractor in a wet Scottish field in the dark, so it's easy to shoot down the GADA concept.
If it was me mending a tractor in the wet mud? I'd probably be wearing my FXD (tends to always be on when I'm working on the car) 😆 Great point to think about how a watch would factor in 🥃
My GADA is my GS SBGN005 GMT, it's versatile and there is nothing I cannot do with it - besides, whenever I take it on it shows the correct time!
Another thoughtful, well constructed video. Well done 👏
Man.
Great summary 🎉 Omega AT, Rolex OP, IWC Mark and Nomos Club are great picks for GADA watches. ❤
Whilst I may never own one, I would favor the Aquanaut.
Cheers for yet another fine presentation.
A real head scratcher of a piece for a convo like this but man… think none of us would pass on it 😉🥃
Thank you very much for this video! I had never considered PP before aside from the Calatrava but your suggestion of the Aquanaut is intriguing...
My GADA (I use the term Daily Driver instead) is my Longines Spirit 37 blue dial. It's the watch that I wear the most and it just works for me.
The aquanaut has an impressive 30m wr, goes against your rules @ID-Guy.
Beaters aren’t really GADA. A GADA watch can be worn to nice dinner or business meeting as well as the beach.
@@cecaju9516 I get it. But my beater I can wear pretty much anywhere
Your channel is fantastic. More long-play videos, please.
All good options IDGuy. I would add another and that would be the Omega Constellation Globemaster Pie Pan dial ref 130.33.39.21.03.001. To me it really is the best GADA that I have.
For me it's the Sinn 556i. Tool-Character but beautiful. And a proper german brand for people who know watches.
Understated down to the last detail. I'm still waiting to pop my Sinn cherry... something tells me it's going to happen soon. They just never seem to disappoint 🥃
@@ID-Guy As they say, "when you go German, you never go back".
My G-Shock square is my favorite go anywhere and do anything watch.
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from amzwatch
My GADA watch : Tag Heuer Aquaracer 300 M
I think an excellent GADA watch is the Black Bay 58 in blue.
You can really go from wearing it at the beach to pairing it with a blue or grey suit.
Great video that made me think. I believe I'd have to add a movable bezel for timing whatever events. Sinn 104 pops in my head.
Thanks!
Oak & Oscar Olmsted is my GADA & vacation watch - covers it all
BB36 gloss black dial with the smiley face is the perfect watch.
My humble ranger is definitely a GADA. Love it
Seeing somebody hiking with his Aquanaut would make my day 😅😅😂
True story, I ran into an elderly guy completely out of the blue on a trail once last summer (walking a St Bernard) we get chatting about the dog, weather etc.
Or you could just have a chronograph. Much more practical.
@garyboyle695 it's not. The minutes counter on a chrono is harder to read than a dive bezel at a glance. Chronos are better for timing things to the second though.
Make a comparison video with all the field watches you put in this video, IWC, Hamilton, Longines…etc
Another great video @ID-Guy . I trust my Tudor BB Pro to get me anywhere, but I sense an Aqua Terra in my future.
Great video, as always. For me you can't beat the simple class of a flieger. I love my IWC Mark XX. The Railmaster also works well in any situation.
The field watch nature seems perfect for this brief, right? IWC Mark XX hits it out of the park for all of these requirements 🔥
Weekend pottering about - Tissot PRX 80 (green)
Out and about with the wife - BB58 or Big eye (ti)
Going somewhere posh - Globemaster.
What a complicated life some of us lead with our relationship with watches. Wouldn't change it though 😂
Too real brother, I'm laughing out loud over here 😅
This is a great list
Of course a ‘GADA’ watch will be different for different people. Office workers vs manual labourers vs sports people etc
But overall considering the thousands of choices available I think this list is superb. My top 3 choices would be the 556, the Rolex op and the mark xx
Love, love my Khaki Field Mechanical - just wish it had better lume! Prefer screw down crowns too, but I realize I’m pushing my luck on that one…
I recently got one. Black dial with the date. Wearing it on a NATO right now. Love the long power reserve. Wish it had internal anti-reflective coating. Apparently you can’t regulate it either although mine is keeping great time so not a problem
