I've had the pleasure to use Pilotfly, now rebranded to Pilotcine products for around 2 years now. They helped me and supported my channel when no one else wanted to, that was at around 600 subscribers, now at 28K I'm still more than happy to use and review their products. I continue to have a relationship with them as I believe in what they do, the quality of their lights and their innovative designs. This isn't re-boxed and re-branded cheap lighting, this is built from the ground up, with love and soul. I'd like to sincerely thank the whole team at Pilotcine for believing in me as I believe in them. *fist bump.
So bottom line, no doubt one of the best RGB video pocket lights I have ever used. The app needs a couple of updates to be perfect, but I'm 110% sure Pilotcine is on this and they'll be updating continuously to make this product the best it can possibly be. If you're in the market for a RGB video pocket light packed full with features that you buy once and properly, this is it.
If you have any questions at all about this Professional RGB video pocket light - Pilotcine Atomcube RX7, post them below in the comments and I'll make sure I get back to you.

Yeah, I'm so hyped 🥰👏🏽
It's awesome!!
Love those lights! 🔥🔥🔥
They are on fire!!
Nice review. I have four. This is the best pocket RGB light in 2021. And it's still evolving.
Four!?!? So you’re closer to linking the 65,000 lights together than I am!! Thank You, yes, excellent light, and I love that it’s constantly being updated 👌🏻
@@PhillipSkraba We have used rx1 for more than a year. After testing rx7, It is a beast. we cannot find pocket lights of this specification in the market. We will buy more atomcube lights in the near future. Our team uses the ARTNET system through Dmx to mesh the group. Every light is on the DMX network It can be a node, I think it will have no limit on the number of lights. We can set the lights in the scene very flexibly.
That is awesome! Yes, I love the RX1, it was a classic, and this is the classic re-invented and with a ton of extra features! Pilotcine are a great team and I totally stand behind them.
Haha! so cool man, enjoy watching your videos everytime! Cheers!
Thank You! Yes, awesome light, incredibly powerful for such a small one!
@@PhillipSkraba my pleasure! Yes loved the features of this light , I have one of those newell rangha rgb light which you did a review of it , and I'm really pleased with it and I also did a review of that in my channel. This light looks cool too but it's not available in our country , so i think I'll get another one of that newell , and they are also cheaper here! Have a great day 🙌
The Newell Rangha is an excellent little light, the thing I love about it is the simplicity. It just works, no bells, no whistles, it just works with no problems at all. Love it. This one though, this is another level, it's aimed at the real hardcore cinematographers out there that need all these functions.
@@PhillipSkraba Yes Exactly! I love it so much 👌
Another cool video! Thanks mate! ;)
Thank You! Absolutely insanely feature packed video pocket lights, love them!
@@PhillipSkraba Yeah! They look really cool! Would be great in my low budget film production. I'm always interested in good, small and relatively cheap lights. Not extremely cheap haha, but they pack a lot, that's true!
@@RadianFilms64 These pack so much in one light I'm in awe. The only thing it's missing is magnets, which they do sell separately (strongest magnets I've used) with a 1/4 20 screw. Superb light!
@@PhillipSkraba I'll have to get one when I can. They really are awesome. And the way you used one in that big soft box.. loved it!
Yes, I'm hoping the add them to the EU Amazon stores too! haha, I thought that would be a cool way to show off just what a kick this little thing has!
Your review is the best that I've seen regarding this light. So many other vloggers missed the mark on this product when featuring it, showing what many question on regarding it's capabilities. Thank you. Now, I noticed you answered a similar question, but how exactly did you get your light set up in that softbox? Which softbox is this? If you didn't do a vid on it can you list the items used to rig this?
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks guys 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Fantastic lights, waiting for the video showing 65k lights haha
hahaha, thanks David, I need to save up for those 😂
4:48 54+54=88 Quick mafs, haha 😂
Love your content Phil! 👌👌
haha, thanks Andre!! 88 RRB, 108 CCT, so 54 cool, 54 warm. Wait, did it sound like I did my maths wrong? 😂😂
@@PhillipSkraba hhaha well then it's my bad! Thought I was being clever 😂😂😂
haha, okay, let's pretend that didn't happen 😂😂
@@PhillipSkraba yes can we please do that! 😂
How would this compare to the rx1 version is the upgrade worth it? Can you do the same thing with the rx1?
Is the rx1 better than the falcon f7?
Well, what can I say? Maybe this 👍 and this 🔥... 😄
haha, thank You Luis!
Another great piece of gear just where to get the $$ to get all the toys you show😉 Another well presented video
Thank You! Yes, this is an excellent light, and from a really great team. They make incredible lights, ones I can highly recommend.
Subbed
Welcome to the channel! Thanks!
So here is a question…. I, lately only use iPhones for photography and video. First how is the light for outdoor use in daylight? Second, I also intend to get a Profoto c1 plus. Which device would you categorize has most useful? Also, I have also ordered the light, the diffuser , and the grid :)
I'd say the Atomcube RX7 is much more useful, the C1 is more of a gimmick by a company that makes serious photography flashes, the RX7 on the other hand is a professional pocket light. During the day you'd have to be pretty close as it won't overpower the sun that's for sure. Use it in places where there is a little shade. No doubt one of the best lights I own.
great review!!
Does this light bring magnet like the Aperture MC and Nanlite PavoTube 2?
do you consider that to be the only disadvantage?
I spent a whole day looking at reviews and comparing the Aperture MC to the nanolite PavoTube ll 6C to see which one to buy and now I found this video ... what a mess you made me! hahaha
So the big question: which would be the best option?
Thank You! Pilotcine have something called the Speedmate, it's a magnetic adapter, stronger than any magnet I've used before that you screw into the 1/4 20 on this, or any light for that matter. Yes, a built in magnet is the only thing this light is missing.
Well the Pavotube II 6C is a great light, but the fact that Nanlite live in the dark ages and don't have a wireless connection straight out of box is beyond me. So I cross the Pavotube off my list straight away, mainly for the fact that having one of these is great and I very often mount them where I can't get to them easily, so having an app is a must. Instead of the Pavotube, if you like that form factor I'd go for a much better light, the Soonwell MT1, I'll be dropping a review on that soon.
If I had to choose between the three lights you mentioned it would hands down be the Atomcube RX7, even though I love Aputure to bits, it's the power output this sucker is giving us, the MC just can't compare. The MC has a magnet and wireless charging, apart from that the Atomcube wins.
@@PhillipSkraba Thanks for the answer! think I´ll go for the Atomcube RX7 then.
It's an excellent choice!
Fabulous review! How is this as a hair light? I was considering the Nanlite PavoTube II 6C (also a great review) but then I saw your review of this light.
Thank You! I would honestly get this light any day over the Pavotube II 6C, mainly due to the app. Nanlite dropped a new remote control today, which is just beyond me, still no app. This'll do great at a hair light, sure! The app is amazing, the features are constantly updated, at the moment there is no better pocket light out there.
@@PhillipSkraba Thank you, super helpful! Wish it had some barn doors, but maybe not a dealbreaker :)
I have my fingers crossed for a silicone egg crate, let's hope they drop it!
Great review . Buying one right now. Can you explain what you used to set up the light inside the light dome.
Thank You! You'll love it, an incredible light! Sure, I just stick it on with a super clamp and 1/4 20 thread attachment. It works like a charm.
@@PhillipSkraba have you tried the light on its own in daylight, outside the studio scenarios
Hi Phillip! Would like to ask your advice on buying my first pocket RGB light.
Between Atomcube RX7, Atomcube RX1 and Aputure MC, which one would you suggest? I would like to start my own RUclips channel and I do portrait photography too.
Thanks in advance mate
Well, the RX7 has the most power, the most features and is no doubt one of the most pro pocket lights out there, I'd go with that.
No problem.
@@PhillipSkraba many thanks 🙏🏻
@@PhillipSkraba Phillip, I have one more question, if I don't really need the App, wireless control or Bluetooth mesh feature, would the Ulanzi Vijim R70 be a better buy over the Atomcube RX7? Since it's 70usd for vijim and 180usd for atomcube in my region. As far as I know, Vijim R70 is pretty bright too, measured at 1070 LUX when 0.5m away. Thank you bro.
u have another light at the bottom?
Yes, always, it's a really small flat led panel I bought back in 2005 from Lee Filters, excellent light, not powerful, but it adds a tiny bit of fill when I'm showing off products to the camera.
You can’t control the rx1 with the new app making the old lights a separate ecosystem from the new lights. Not sure what they were thinking.
No, I'm afraid you can't. Hopefully they'll add the RX1 to the new app though, fingers crossed!
Affiliate link is showing me humidifiers... In German! Rofl
Yes, sucks they seem not to be available in Europe, except for CVP!
How’s the reliability now?
A few years on, and these are still some of the best lights I own. I think they now sell a "lite" version of this light.
@@PhillipSkraba Awesome thank you, I ordered one to use for on camera light at a wedding. I was using Cineo Matchbox but its a pain in multicolor temp situations since its a remote phosphor light.
The links lead sadly to nothing... can it be that it's because it is not being sent to austria?
Yes, I just saw! I added a USA link which will send to Austria, but as you know, the import duties are not fun! You can buy from CVP in the UK I think. I will get hold of Pilotcine though and ask them why this monster of a pocket light isn't available worldwide 🙈
@@PhillipSkraba Thanks man, as I mentioned to you on Insta, anything will make me happy, except their 50$ transport cost from Taiwan lol, thanks for your answer and have a chilled sunday 😋🤗
haha, I think it's more from Amazon US!! Have a great Sunday too!
@@PhillipSkraba 😭😭😭 I just want these liiiights 🤧
Thanks man, maybe they come to europe one day, just have not the bucks to pay the transport fee :/ 🤔
They are very, very good! The RX1 came to Europe, so hopefully this will too!
Does it overheat?
I've had no problems yet!
@@PhillipSkraba sweet! Just ordered 2 on amazon prime. On Sale for $165 with diffuser at the moment.
No way! Great price! These are by far the sexiest pocket lights I have in my kit, and no doubt the most professional ones.
It looks like it's blinding you as a keylight lol or do you have very sensitive eyes?
It is a very powerful light! Needs more diffusion lol.
@@PhillipSkraba wow so more powerful than the keylight you'd usually use? 😂
Well, not really, but pretty damn close. It's completely different to a single cob light source, it's a fantastic light though!
@@PhillipSkraba Oh, I see so that makes sense why its not as good used as a key then
