Hi Sam! DD is mostly a target de-duplication system which mean the actual de-duplication happens at the DD end. but with DD agents (OST) and native to NetWorker DD supports a feature called DSP - Distributed segment processing. With his the segmentation and hashing happens on the client machine which ensure only unique data is sent across the network.
Hello , I have a small issue hope you can help me , In Networker 9.1 there are many save sets with "Recycleble" (Retention is expired) for long time and it is not removed ,eventhough data domain clearing process is executed. Is there a way to manually delete them ? What if I totaly delete the device form NW ?
You can reach out to me for discussions and queries on twitter.com/CrazyrovS. The task of deleting a expired saveset is that of nsrim, there can be multiple reasons for this. We can continue the discussion on twitter.
on DD you have a trail version that supports only 500GB protection, the period is unlimited. For a lab set up this is more than enough. As for NetWorker, it come with a trial with all features enabled but limited to around 90 days.
You might not be able to get it directly as an attribute but you could add a report spec called 'attrs'. you will need to get the information from there.
Hi, Thanks for such a wonderful channel. Kindly explain networker and data domain encryption with configurations steps. Is encryption enabled in clone controlled replication.
@@crazyrov Actually I need to configure PR & DR Networker servers. I had a discussion with EMC local team and got to know that they don't recommend it due to the fact that it requires a cluster service and increases complexity. In case of any break b fix SR, EMC support always try to declare the cluster service a culprit.
@@crazyrov EMC recommends to configure a store node on DR instead of Networker. My customer has requested to configure a DR Networker as a passive or active server. I believe if there were any issues with cluster integrations in earlier versions, those are improved now in 19.6.
@@arslan8055 To be honest, in my 13 yrs of NetWorker experience I have never come across NetWorker server on a cluster. Incase of a cross site DR I dont recommend it either because, its just takes only minutes to rebuild NetWorker from the bootstrap. You can always have one VM ready with all the relevant application installed and when the times comes just boot it up an do a NetWorker DR. You would be ready to go.
For NetWorker both are the same but you wont get the same level of performance for a DDVE that you get out of a physical DD. Also, FC related features like VTL and DDBoost over FC is not available on DDVE.
Great Tutorial
Thanks!
Hi, i can come to know some of the hidden features about the DD thanks bro.
Any time!
Thanks!
Thank you for your super thanks 🙏
Request you to prepare a video on explanation of max sessions, target sessions and dynamic nsrmmd's and how exactly it works
Great suggestion! Very soon.

Thanks for Explanation Just a Small query - In Networker how it can do a client side de-duplication ?

Very good explanation..

and can we use Networker 9V or 19V trail versions ?Please inform us

is there any way to query the "deduplication ratio" through mminfo.

Thanks i have also emailed you can you check that and provide any configurations steps
Hi, could you pls make a video on Networker clustering i.e config or PR & DR
hi Arslan! Can you tell a little more on your request?

Is there any difference between dd and ddve or both are same ,
