  • Here's an excerpt from the infamous speech given by Prime Minister Winston Churchill in June 1940, following the withdrawal of British troops from France and the events at Dunkirk.
Set to scenes from the 2017 film Dunkirk directed by Christopher Nolan.
Immediately after facing some of the most disastrous events in military history, and with the nation facing certain defeat, Churchill managed to deliver a speech which roused the spirit of an entire nation.
Huge thanks goes out to RenegadeRouser for the edit of Hans Zimmer’s Variation 15 (itself inspired by Edward Elagr’s “Nimrod”).
Check out his original video below:
Dunkirk Ending - All Farrier/Fortis 1 Scenes (with Variation 15 by Hans Zimmer)
    • Dunkirk Ending - All F...
“I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.
At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of His Majesty’s Government-every man of them. That is the will of Parliament and the nation.
The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength.
Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
    we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.”

I agree. I lost my health aged 44, 23 years ago now. i started out with one illness and along the way have collected 4 more chronic illnesses rendering me disabled these das. I live alone. I forge on regardless every day, like millions of others with different challenges. Mine is pain and isolation but ou klnow what.. NEVER SURRENDER has always been my motto. I go to bed each night with an idea of what household tasks for phone calls or whatever I need to achieve the next day to keep hearth and home together - I do what I can - then I recoup. Its a small act of self discipline within very bad health. Keep going.. always. its all any of us can do and muster up a cheery voice and a smile when you speak to others. Then again, I had two parents from the war time generation - I was brought up with it. lol.

During the historic events at Dunkirk in World War II, the courage of the soldiers shone brightly. Faced with the perilous situation of being trapped on the beaches, surrounded by enemy forces and with limited options for escape, these brave men demonstrated unwavering determination. Despite the constant bombardment and the odds stacked against them, they stood resolute, displaying incredible acts of selflessness and camaraderie. Their unwavering spirit and bravery in the face of adversity served as a testament to the indomitable human spirit and remain an inspiring example of courage for generations to come.

As I am American, this speech brings tears of pride every time I hear it. Why? One might ask.....the answer is simple.
Kindred blood, and a shared spirit. A common history, and shared forebears.
Now we face the spector of fachism again.....this time its called globalism.
    Again we stand against it.....
Again we will fight, if need be in the hills or landing grounds...and again we will never surrender.

The battle of britain was provably the major air war feat in the whole aviation history. Its was the clash of two superpowers that gave everything to win air superiority,an example of tenacity, patriotism and confidence in own resources no matter if they were scarce as happened with britain facing nazi Germany .Finaly a handful of british airmen (only about 300 Pilots)won the battle leaving depts of the English Channel full of war planes remains .Among dime british pilots that i remember are, Douglas Vader,Richard Hillary, Closterman and others. It is certainly true that world owes a huge debt to that small number of brave pilots (as Wiston Churchill then Said).
