    A few months ago, MrBeast tried to survive being buried alive for 50 hours. He had an air system that pumped in fresh oxygen, but it got us curious- how long could someone actually survive being buried underground before running out of oxygen? So we made our own coffin and sealed box to find the answer. What's more dangerous, running out of oxygen, or being poisoned by CO2? If you fill
    a box with plants or water, can it replenish your CO2 with oxygen? Let's find out!

    • @niagargoyle
      @niagargoyle 3 года назад

    A key note for plants: they indeed produce oxygen from carbon at a small rate when lit by a proper light (containing a proper UV light). However, at any other time they breath small amount (producing CO2 from oxygen), which is why it is bad idea to have plants inside your bedroom at night when properly closed (for example in winter).

    You should make a giant glowing bubble night lamp. I have a regular version (it looks really cool) and I would want to know how it’s made and if you can make a giant version.

    So something I usually see in movies/shows is that the person has a zippo lighter to help them see. How much shorter time would you have with the flame eating up the oxygen?

    @12:27 For plants to produce oxygen you need enough light. Otherwise the plants themselves only use up existing oxygen for their metabolism.
    If I were you, I would have used acrylic glass water tanks as walls (let us say for example of 2 inch thickness), filled with chlorella algae in communication with the inside.

    Plants only absorb CO2 during photo synthesis. But at all times they expel CO2 through cellular respiration. So if you want a decrease in CO2 levels you must insure the plants are undergoing photosynthesis as much as possible. Also, plants with a high growth rate are often better.

    "30,000 parts per Million."
    Or, 30 parts per thousand, or, 3 per hundred.
    That's 3%. (Usually closer to 4%.)
    Easier to think, now.

    I think it would be cool if they conducted a vacuum experiment where they have a part of their body get in a vacuum chamber. I think with a wide and stretchy seal around the arm this could be achieved, and it is known that humans can survive in a vacuum for a short while. I'm not suggesting they literally entirely be in a vacuum because that's just dangerous. This video gave me this idea, and I also see the actually visible vacuum side-effects change drastically from movie to movie. What does it even feel like? is it cold? is it tightening? I'd very much like to know!
