I've ran one for the past 10 years as an almost daily, but it is a facelift so generally prone to fewer issues and corrosion (which isnt a massive issue on these anyway). As long as youre slightly mechanically sympathetic, prepared to do preventative maintenance every so often, and fix things as soon as they start to go wrong, they are very solid cars with very little competition for the price to buy nowadays. The amount of design & R&D work that must have gone into these and the S class on top of what they already did on the previous models (eg. the W140) is amazing
I bought a mint Cl500 3 years ago for only a little more then you paid for this very tired example. One might deduce you bought one with multiple issues on purpose? I am surprised how much I enjoy driving the Cl500 and for such a big car it does provide a surprising amount of feedback and driver involvement. Love mine and I will be enjoying maintaining and driving it for many years to come. Can't wait until the spring when it will be taxed for 6 month and back on the road.
Hi Lee. Nice new project. I've been supporting you from day one. Wish you never left Manchester, the channel hasn't been the same since you moved down south. Miss videos of you and Jesse big time!!! Are ye still mates? I'm a massive supporter of Jesse as well. Rob from Ireland
That means that you must clean the entire throttle bodies - had a Merc A Class once and strangely cleaning the grottoes body completely removed the engine light
Hydraulic oil suspension; Active Body Control; if you press the ABC sport button (& it works) the oil shocks *should* stiffen up *A BUNCH* ; also make sure the suspension isn't raised w/ the button that looks like a car w/ the arrow [⬆️] & two lights; niether light on that button should be illuminated; the ABC Sport button *SHOULD* be illuminated
Since comment and advice I asked on last exhaust video on this car,I've been dieing for this video and Lee said wait for this video all will be answered,so just about to watch yay,and Lee if remember my comment you answered before, you no my dream is to have first v8,thought if I start saving since started new job this week, wonder if consider if you do or decide to sell might keep me in mind plzzzzzz,I'm local only Southend Essex :) 🤞🙏🤞🙏
The flap could be the one on the intake motorised flap they get clogged up with carbon try some brake cleaner on it while moving it in and out it’s like a throttle body ✌️
P2006 is the right hand side air induction system.. really common fault on this era Mercedes. The flaps and joints are all plastic & they break easily. Will also throw up a code for your MAS. So it COULD be that but it can also throw this code if the solenoid is dodgy.. and the only way you'll know for sure which one it is.. is to take it to a specialist. Pray it's the flap system.. because that's got aftermarket parts fixes (don't replace the whole thing with an OEM Mercedes system cos it'll just break again. If it's the solenoid.. it's deep in the V so the labour costs alone will require you to donate a kidney (& possibly a bollock). Been there...
If the air mass meter has 5 pins the temp sensor is in there. You should be able to see the thermistor if you look down it. Like a glass bead on a wire. Maybe 3k ohms if you multimeter test it. Depending on air temp
Lee Lock wood now I have your attention there is a dealership in Nairn has got two CL cars one is black it is a 5.5 AMG the other is in Silver which is the same model as yours they are in one of there storage units they haven't driven them in years in may be worthwhile if they would part them out the Garage is Hendersons, thought you might be interested. 👍
Wat a great car good project cheap car and don't forget love mercedes love watching your videos mate this car just needs loving as it seems in past it has not brake light is the brake sensor on pads mercedes maintenance is not that bad
Hope you get it fixed, can't wait till you spank the guts out of it, LOL. Totally awesome car my dad had one back in the day, used to scare the crap out of me, not sure if it was the power or his rubbish driving. Mind you he was in his mid-seventies then, God rest him. Would totally love one, the ultimate mile muncher, imagine taking her down too the south of France. Luxury.
I am in the trade if you can do most of it yourself not to bad just be careful of the suspension that issue can be costly when it goes wrong but general servicing, brakes etc not so bad
someone is trying to do a trade for a sym scooter and 800 dollars. thing runs and shifts but i have no idea if i should trade. has 180k miles. so my total money in would be 1800 usd.
wicked project Lee .. dont forget about the 190e though ..
Don’t you worry.. it’s taking up a LOT of my stress at the minute 😂
@@itsleelockwood wouldn’t expect any less with your cars lee 🤣
It's a CL500 ,,,not an AMG .
The only thing that is AMG is the badge.
The intake air temp sensor is in the MAF sensor unit.

followed you for years lee, and youre still banging out good content , love it
I cannot beleive you bought this without knowing about the ABC suspension.
Don’t shut the doors by pushing the glass, the windows get out of line.

Hay, enough with the grandad smell talk you, we don't all smell of older people 😳
A lot of cars the wiring between maf and iat sensor share the same feed so if maf faulty will also trigger iat (intake air temp ) fault too
Run Forrest, run!!😂
Mine had water ingress, killed two SAM modules.
ABC went bang….
Lovely motor, but never again. 😂
You do love a challenge dont ya lee haha can't wait to this and the 190 all done
Right side of car is always from driving position...right is drivers side on uk car
Loving the cl content

Hello Lee buddy great videos have you still got your Audi can't wait for next videos
I do!
Hello Lee Lockwood that great have you done any more modified to Audi yet buddy
Lee invest in an AUTEL AP200 - you can read all of the manufacturer codes yourself as well as log live data etc and read off the sensors!..
love this little tool

Are you becoming a merc guy?! Also thanks for this video. I was quite keen on buying one of these until I saw this haha.
Maybe haha!
seems like there is a connector plug unplugged and cable tied near the coils?
Yeah one on either side
i'd be pulling my hair out if i owned that thing. I'll keep watching this series and see how u cope 🤣
Love these cars 👍👍👍
There are zero AMG parts on that car. Its not an AMG lol

Could the heater be linked to aircon try taking fuse out of aircon friend had a problem on a golf with aircon staying on
Hmm will take a look
@@itsleelockwood if it is, you may not have a coolant leak, it may be from the air con condenser
My guy has bill bur running his codes
Ahem 2001….Petty, pedantic..you bet ya. Love the content Lee
Would the wheels fit on the 190?
lee, it,s not air suspension it,s hydraulic.
I see a catastrophe coming btw 😵💫
In those cars if check engine light doesn't show up, then you will have to take it to the mechanic😅

I don't think the CL500 is an AMG model?
Awesome Content ever
So much car for £1,100 👍🏻. Great content to
What's the connector that's unplugged on the ignition loom ?
There’s 1 either side which I thought was strange
2 mercs, one has a fucked engine but is a minter, the other has problems but has a big fuck off v8... Time to turn 2 into one 😏
The V8 won’t fit.. I researched hahaha
@@itsleelockwood 😂😂😂
Maybe it’s the ecu? 🤔
How many previous owners has it had?
I don’t know haha
So whats happening with the slk 190e build
We’re on it! Lots of planning needed
Nothing AMG on that car, just a CL500

Where's the 350 gone Mr Lockwood?
It’s here.. video tomorrow

Excellent content. More of a fan of the 190 but you actually learn something from your videos unlike Jamie FYD.
I just bought a CL500 for £2500, I thought I got mine cheap! Has a couple of issues also! I'll subscribe and hopefully i'll finish mine first :P
I saw it in autotrader, is it a silver model and the seller was in london?!

Welcome to hell! ABC hell! I bought a CL600 and by the time I made it right it cost me more then I would ever admit!
I can't believe what I'm seeing here
no no that not the best way to turn the blower motor off reset is the best way
The regulator is fried
He knows more than anyone else,,,, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

NOT AN AMG 🤣
Well it is though isn’t it
@@itsleelockwood Nope not even close
