I can't believe how long I've been watching Dr. Brown's videos for now. It's the review channel for the refined youtuber. No sponsorship, no clickbaits, no profanity, just top notch content for our entertainment. Plus, Dr. Brown's videos helped me to restore a family heirloom Parker 51 and a Parker 45 that I picked up with a broken nib. Dr. Brown is like the Father if Fountain Pens. Also, I think at this point, his pensmanship has surpassed all mortal limitations. It would be nice to learn some more artistic skills from Professor Tarquin and Lord Windermere however!
I like Pelikan pens and I don't mind small pens, but for some reason my Pelikan M205 just doesn't thrill me like my M800! The white parts can stain, but I like the aesthetics of it. Your package delivery reminds me of one that was shipped (early Oct 2020) from Illinois. It went to New York, then New Jersey, circled back to Indiana, then to Utah where it luxuriated next to the Great Salt Lake for two months before finally wending its way to me in Arkansas in mid-December. It was trackable the entire route, or at least it seemed to be. Customs was not involved. The label was correct and quite legible and there was no damage to the box. No explanation or apologies from our (US) side of the Canadian border!! Maybe if mine had been wayward for 13 months, but... nah, probably not even then. Bravo and appreciation to your Canadian postal folks for at least giving you an apology! .
Sounds like Canada's postal system took notes from the Allen Park, Michigan distribution centre and ran with it. (I had a Chinese pen that took over 4 months to arrive, after the USPS said that it was lost. In Allen Park, which is arguably the worst distribution centre in the United States. Everything else arrived in under a month. I could have walked to Windsor, Ontario and back faster than it took me to get an Esterbrook I'd bought, before I actually got it in Monroe, Michigan. I'm disabled... Again, Allen Park.) Great looking pen! I've been considering a Pelikan. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve the same Pastel Green ! A great writer even though I feel that it is overpriced at $150 (here in India). My ‘Fine’ writes more like a ‘Medium’ though !
Nice review Stephen. To me it’s a pretty pen and I especially like the nib color. Gold plating instead of 18 K gold is still very attractive. And frankly keeps the pen affordable. Good of you to note the thread sharpness again your finger as THAT really could be an issue for bigger hands. I know how I get when the ink is flowing, looking good, and the nib is smooth. It would be a drag to have that all working for you only to realize the threads are jabbing you after 10 minutes or so.
Great review; it's not my cup of tea but I appreciate the design, which is sure to work for many others; a lot more than the recent shimmering editions. Pelikans are my most reliable pens, by far, an under appreciated aspect at purchase time which many of us come to regret. Bigger models are way too expensive, luckily the m200 size works for my L glove size hands.
Solid review, as always. Thirteen months to deliver a parcel is perhaps somewhere outside the optimum target. Still, you got it. Nice pen, not my sort of colour scheme, but Pelikan will not suffer any for losing my custom on this model.
I would call this pen Cabbage Girl or Cabbage Queen depending on my mood of the day 😊😊 I also agree that it looks very soothing although I've never seen it in real life. Pelikan did a great job with this soft, healing pastel aesthetic.
I find it interesting that people consider a different colorway as a different pen. I feel like, despite Pelikan pens being absolutely fantastic, they basically offer the same pen in different sizes in lieu of actually different designs, and then within those categories, offering different plastics as a limited edition. Otherwise, if you've reviewed one m600 you've reviewed them all. In fact, if you've reviewed an m600, you've basically reviewed every Pelikan. For an m200, you just say "think smaller, think steel nib." Great pens, but very much settled into their niche and not offering much in the way of innovation that would necessitate a review for each "model". Pelikan is kind of like the flip side of the Montblanc coin. They seem to focus on the timeless aspect and writing experience in order to have a reputation as a writer's pen, where Montblanc seems to really focus on unique ornate models that read more as luxury prestige items. I think I prefer Pelikan's philosophy, but it would be nice to see a new Pelikan that was actually different in some substantial way.
I have this pen with this nib and yours is much finer than mine! I find that mine writes more like a medium and is a very wet writer so basically totally different from your your experience. Very curious but nevertheless a beautiful pen!
I have a similar story regarding this pen. I bought it about a couple of months ago on amazon from Germany and it was to be delivered to the Uk. It got stuck somewhere and I even tried to reschedule the delivery but yet again it failed to arrive. There was no movement of the parcel shown on the tracking map and I just assumed it got lost somewhere along the way. So absolutely gutted I asked for the refund, which I was given without any problems. I still wanted the pen but I was so over it at that particular time, as I was so excited for the pen, and when it failed to arrive I was like " whatever". So then after about a month or so I looked at the pen and its availability on the amazon, and long and behold it was still there now 11 pounds cheaper :D. It should arrive tomorrow and I am watching it journey closely and so far so good as it shows the item is at the amazon facility in the town not even 2 hours away from my town. So this time perhaps it was meant to be and even for a better price. As the saying goes: " There is usually some positive in something negative. " Love your videos and your humor. All the best to you.
Very interesting review, a brand dear to my soul dared to do something new, like a touch of Spring lighting up the getting dark days of our autumn, the early months of a pandemic. I do appreciate you reviewing it even if very late Cheers
It's the correct pronunciation of Pelikan. :-) Which is to say, it's a German company and that's a German pronunciation. Us Amurr'k'ns just say Pell'k'n.
Professor…. Summertime in Canada looks good on you! Some actual color to that face!! And yes, those are pelikan eyes. For years I thought nostrils….but no!

I could not stop laughing when Stephen got to "it's sold out now" section!!

Lots of laughs in this one. I enjoyed it. I´ve been very happy with my dark brown M200.

Classy looking pen.
I always follow your videos and reviews.
I have the same pen 🙏🙏

That gives me hope for a pen that never (hasn't) arrived (yet).
Pen condoms hardly stop spawning a lot in my drawers.
That's the way Canada Post works, for the most part.
Is that the correct pronunciation of Pelican?

Canada Post losing packages? What a shocker! (You are the only person I know who got an apology letter though).

Nice and informative review as always, however I disagree with you if I may "size does matter ".
The camera is way too close mate.
Ok; now I gotta pull my 200's out and see if the threads are sharp ... ugh!
200$ tho :|
Handwriting, of course, God forbid ))
M200... more than half of the price is taken by the pouch and the box.
