That special effects matte set is very cool. Very early Hollywood.

Without Mitchell and these types of cameras we would never have been entertained with the magnificent black and white images projected onto the huge screens via an arc lamp. Thank you Mr Mitchell and Mr Eastman.

That's really incredible! Especially showing off each of the individual features and peculiarities (the mattes, the fading mechanism, the rackover, the movement)

I used to own a Mitchell GCN, made for the Canadian Navy in the 1940s or 50s. It was rackover and also had a bipack magazine which I used for shooting opticals. It could shoot rock steady up to 144fps, but most of the time it was driven by a stepping motor as part of a motion control or rostrum camera setup. It had been hard fronted with a Nikon F mount.
You could see this was made by craftsmen who took genuine pride in their work. It was a beautiful instrument, a fine example of the optical engineer's art.

Coincidentally Mitchell and Kenyon were early film pioneers in the UK.

Could you please shoot something on this camera and upload it on your channel? Really curious to see the present being shot by this camera! It would be great!

I second this. It would be really neat to see what modern times look like through this camera.

+cdevarona You see them everyday, there are still plenty of these still in use, almost every movie shot on film has at least one VFX shot filmed on a Mitchell. As far as movement steadyness goes it's the first and last .. I shot a Commercial on S/N 111 (1927) this Feburary .. You would see it and not know it ..

There is any way to adapt lenses from this camera to modern ones?

Hey Sam I recently acquired a collection of Mitchell cameras and equipment. You clearly seem to know quite a lot about em if you could help me get more information about them that’d amazing.

Wow, amazing thanks for this video. If you get the chance view my video of my 1957 Bolex H16 refleX, 16mm film camera, not a vintage Mitchell 35 for sure but still a cool old Swiss camera. Thanks,Moses.
