  • In 2011, Jaime and Rogério Matos founded Impressão 3D Portugal with two Prusa Mendels in their grandparents' garage. They now run Portugal's largest 3D printing facility for industrial parts, using and upgrading to Original Prusa MK4 printers. Through Evolt.pt, they supply printers and training. Their efficient farm managed with Prusa Connect and augmented reality, reflects their commitment to the 3D printing community, which they support through events and conventions.

Obrigado.

Really wish I had gotten into printing sooner so I could have more stuff built up by now..tho at the same time printing has never been as easy as it is now, so it's kind of a toss-up 🤷🏿‍♀️

Its a cool farm, but im curious, who are the customers? At work i never order FDM prints, SLS or MJF prints are almost always better and the designers dont have to think about designing for printing, and surfaces are not ruined by supports etc.

The machines for those forms of 3D printing are significantly more expensive and also require a lot more post-processing and setup. Yes more design has to go into parts for FDM printing but it’s a much more scalable process and can be done at a significantly lower cost because of this. Usually FDM parts are more than strong and accurate enough for most applications and also allow for varieties of colors and materials while SLS is usually restricted to Nylon and sometimes low-shore-hardness TPU that couldn’t be done with FDM. I implore you to go on PCBWay or any other 3D print service and see just how much the cost skyrockets when you ask to print something custom in SLS.

@@KolMan2000 i order SLS/MJF/SAF parts at work almost every week. And they cost a lot more than from PCBway :). But from a company perspective its not the deciding factor, compared to most costs in a project its a small part. Time is very critical, and of course the finish and material properties. :)

Not everyone has a 3d printer, but everyone has ideas. If you can draw it you can print it if you submit the stl to this web platform… for companies makes even more sense because you dont have to buy undreds of printers or invest in a mold to produce 1000 units, só you just order the production via this website… It makes lots of sense since you are giving oportunity to produce hundreds of parts for one client for exemple without limitations or stupid high costs. You work with cars you know what i am talking, go to porsche and ask for a interior plastic for a 80s porshe, you have 2 options you pay a stupid amount of money IF they have it in stock or they only accept if you buy 10 or more…
