  • A short video going over some basics, including how to connect/pair your phone via bluetooth to the Uconnect infotainment system and how to customize the vehicle settings through Uconnect. This tutorial applies to many FCA vehicles including but not limited to: Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and Ram trucks. *However, some of the off-road-centric features that are mentioned may only apply to the Jeep.

      Hey Dana - I also have a 2016 and wanted Car Play. Jeep rumors said there would be an upgrade (software) but never happened. There is a hardware upgrade available that swaps out the radio for the latest version - mine is on order. If interested search user “Infotainment” for their video “2014-2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Factory OEM Radio Options”. Good luck.

    excellent detail video kudoz..i saw on the suspension part in the settings you for those who don't know if you go to get 4 wheel alignment the shop must put the jeep in 4 wheel alignment mode. Also if you change your own oil or rotate your own tires you can turn off wheel suspension while you do this otherwise the tire will keep dropping down and you wont get the tire off because it is leveling it self...found that out while changing my brakes. Very useful safe info there.
    but this was a very thought out and informative video .i have owned 5 gc 96 01 05 12 and 14 overland 12 and 14 both trailrated and now i have a hemi as my name says "there is .only one jeep" or 5 lol great job

      Hi Daisy, that’s exactly right, for 2016 (same year as mine) it’s Bluetooth or USB direct, but neither providing any availability of Apple CarPlay. You can play music through the Bluetooth or if you plug in, can simultaneously charge your device as well as stream music.

      Indy D hey there, unfortunately Uconnect is a bit limited on the apps it has in their system, the only thing I could suggest is to run TuneIn through your phone and steam the audio via Bluetooth. • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  2 года назад

      Hey again! Unfortunately Uconnect discontinued supporting the Via Mobile apps a few years ago (Pandora, Aha, etc.) so there is no way to add those apps to your system and even if you have them listed on your screen like I do, they are no longer functional. It’s not ideal, but now I usually just set the playlist I want to listen to on my phone before I start driving and then I can perform basic functions like skip next song through the screen. Hopefully the new systems have Apple CarPlay & Android auto, I loved it in my Corvettes and Suburban!

    Hello, on 2018 jeep GC radio, is the radio automatic frequency adjusting available? I believe this feature is called RDS: it is a feature where the radio is permanently adjusting and updating the frequency of the radio stations without any action from the driver. I had this feature on my 2009 Jeep GC, but on the 2018 model, I did not found it unfortunately, so I have to manually perform a new frequency search for the same station during a long driving trip. Any idea or advice please?

    • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  6 лет назад

      Hmmmm, I don't have an immediate answer in regard to Alternative frequency (or AF) on our stereo, but I'll try to see what I can find on this - I didn't even realize this was a thing to be honest, but it sounds like a useful feature!

    • @youssefsabiri3860
      @youssefsabiri3860 6 лет назад

      Yes it exists on the 2009 jeep GC and you do even not need to activate it or choose a specific setting, it was the by-default feature. When on a long travel, I check the list of radio stations, and I find new stations added to the list, some others disappeared because these are not available anymore on the location I was in, and then the system does not show it because there is no need to... the current feature on the 2018 GC is really taking us back to the 90’s decade where the programmable buttons on radios first time appears!! Thanks a lot for your help!

However, the 2018 Grand Cherokee (and maybe the 2017?) have the 4th generation UConnect system which was when they added Apple Carplay/Android Auto and the off-road pages on the center infotainment screen... I wish FCA would allow for us to upgrade to the new interface, but at this time we're stuck with the 3rd gen system in ours. :/

If it doesn't immediately show up, try pulling down on your phone screen to refresh the available devices list. If it shows up, then you should be able to follow the instructions on the phone and the car system to complete pairing - let me know if you're still having trouble!

      Sorry for such a late reply, I don’t always seem to get notifications for comments. Unfortunately I’m out of town for a while, so I don’t have the car in front of me, but once you click on the app manager, on the left-hand side of the screen I believe there’s a button that will allow you to select some more apps that you can add to your system, but at least when we bought the car the selection was pretty much limited to Pandora and a couple other Internet radio selections-nothing all that great to be honest. I find it much better to just connect my phone via Bluetooth or USB and skip the clunky apps that are built into the system. Apparently though, the new Uconnect systems in current FCA vehicles are much nicer than in our vehicles.

      Literally the first half of this video is all using the Uconnect interface... I'm guessing you wanted more info regarding apps maybe? The early generations of Uconnect (what this video is based on) had a dismal selection of options for apps and the ones included functioned poorly, I'd suggest using Apple CarPlay if that's a concern you're having. Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

      Haha, I'm not really the biggest Uconnect fan either - I know a lot of people love it, but I think it responds way too slowly and I don't like the layout of the controls, personally.... not that my Corvette was much better though :/

      We've had Uconnect4 in 2 Trailhawks and a Charger. In my opinion, it's great! I wouldn't recommend the new Uconnect, Uconnect5, to anyone for all the tea in China!
