I truly, in voice play form, am so glad that Louis Armstrong and his song, had a huge nod in this cover! His great music lives on! Great job voice play, great job Jenn! Low bass Kenneth!
I always enjoy your analyses. This one really was so much fun; I don't know how, but they managed a Halloween-ish Christmas song without touching on anything from Nightmare Before Christmas. I had never heard the original, which is a shame- it's a charming song- so I can at least thank VoicePlay not only for their excellent rendition, but for introducing it to me at all. BTW, I am desperately curious to see your reaction to Geoff's Christmas release, Carol of the Bells. I suspect it might be his latest viral video; it's epic. I just saw your alert for that one, so I definitely can't wait!
Thanks for another VoicePlay reaction to their latest Christmas tune. This is the third time that Layne has arranged this one for VoicePlay over the years. Apparently, they used to perform this live in their pre-pandemic touring days. One of the previous arrangements is on one of their Christmas CDs from that time. Always good to see J. back with the guys. He does a great Louis Armstrong tribute. Layne had a new toy to use for this one...they used a robotic arm with multiple cameras. Eli had to connect his computer with the lighting cues to the robotic arm’s computer to sync everything up.
The first time I heard this I wasn't aware that it was a Louis Armstrong song and I was so surprised when his voice started coming out of J None. What a great nod to him. Such fun.
I love your charming positivity and adorable upbeat attitude. Amazing analysis combined with a lovable, lighthearted attitude and super-cute giggling and smiling? I definitely love your reactions. Anytime I'm having a bad day, lately, I just pick out another reaction from you and it helps me relax.
Oh I never noticed the "Brr"!! J did a great impression of Louis Armstrong! Loved that they did something non-traditional 😉. Your setting looks fantastically cosy and yes, love that cup too! 🎄⚘️🕊
19:20 J's last run down here is so similar to the closing run in "Suppertime" from _Little Shop Of Horrors._ Adds to the slight creepiness of the song.
Loved this one, Jen! My interpertation of Layne's part is: 'I can hear a knockin *BURP*, He's coming *another BURP* a *WHOOHOO*' Yeah; He's amazing; they all are! And congrats on 175 K subscribers!
Jenn, your are awesome!!! I love to watch your reactions and analysis. So genuine and heartfelt!!! Your the best!!! Voiceplay and Geoff never cease to astound me with their creations. As my late good friend Rush Limbaugh would say, they (and you) have "Talent on loan from God!!!" Merry Christmas Beautiful!
Such a fun video and I love JNone so seeing him again with the group is wonderful. The visuals are great too. I have heard Louis Armstrong's version of this one, but I must admit, I like this one better. Thanks for another great analysis and reaction Jen
I've been waiting for your reaction to this! Great analysis to a great track! Was chucking when you were doing Layne's solo 😂 Get practising your scatting girl! Thank you 😊🎄
That's actually Layne whistling on the track, although they filmed it as if it was Cesar. Matthew “Bucky” Buckner provided Santa's hands and Eli was Santa's voice. By the way, the couch is named Bethany.
This is a great cover of Louis Armstrong's Christmas song. It is not a well-known song. I had never heard it before VoicePlay did it. I found it to be a fun, if spooky, little tune.
I’m amazed at the arrangement on this one. The only other cover of this Satchmo song I have heard is Brian Setzer (of Stray Cats fame) Orchestra’s and that has a full ‘40s style big band behind it. And yet VP sounds just so full even without all those instruments he had.
Harry Connick Jr also did it on a Christmas album a long time ago. That’s who I first heard it from and then shortly thereafter I heard it by Brian Setzer. So now I have four versions of this song in my Christmas playlist!
JENNNNNNN YOU SHOULD DO A REACTION OF THEIR "Phantom Of The Opera"!!!its so good!! its a lot older (9 years) so it still has Tony in it and his vocals in it are so good!!! i highly recommend it!!!!!!!
These guys all have such amazing vocal ranges. Of course we know about Geoff but, most either don't know or forget that Eli has been known to cover the bass line when Geoff solos, Layne, as I understand has very nearly the same range as Geoff. J. None now sings bass in the Navy. They are all incredible.
I'm old enough to remember this one, but I don't. It never got the play time on the radio, so not will known at all. Satchmo's original is wonderful, of course, but Voiceplay? Out of sight!!
471 views and 180 likes in less than 2 hours. Well done, Jen! This is a really fun arrangement. I wasn't aware of Satchmo's song until VP covered it. I found it and gave it a listen. J. None nailed it. Great analysis as always. I liked how you stopped and pointed out all the details that fly by so fast otherwise. Thanks!
I guess, you already saw the BTS? But to explain a little more, how this "Cinebot" robotic camera works: You program it to time (or in this case, to the music/song). You preselect the angles, closeups, etc. that you want for the whole song (Layne did that with Ben a day before the actual shooting). When this process is done, you can switch to any second of the song and the camera will always be at the exact same spot (that is something humans can't afford, especially not with a moving, tilting handcam). With this computer aided precision, you can shoot multiple takes (with changed positions of the guys, e.g.) and you always have the exact picture from any take to any second matching the audio. Layne then used a morphing effect in post-production to blend the different pictures from the different takes and finally achieves a fast, but smooth position change of the group. 😃 I saw your announcement for the R&A of Geoff's "Carol of the Dragons" 🐲, ahem... whatever...🤣 - I'll wait with my Christmas wishes for the comment section there! 😉 Thank you for this great one and see you then!🥰

Yes, it's a robot camera - that's how they accomplished the switching. In the BTS, Geoff commented that someone needed to find Jay a larger watch.

I didn’t realize it was Louis Armstrong either. I first heard it from Harry Connick Junior and then a few weeks later by Brian Setzer Orchestra.

Great reaction and analysis! Did you notice the VP icon on the top of the Christmas tree?
Ah yes! So cool!
Great reaction!!!! Also lane did the Bobby mcferrin with the singing and beatboxing

Sounds like Beaker was invited as a guest performer, loving this VP performance as always. 😀
Now Home Free "Cold Hard Cash". So much fun. Another original Christmas song from the boys. 🤠 🙂
I ❤ the VoicePlay logo topper on the Christmas 🎄.
It is so refreshing to see an English girl without piercings and tatoos everywhere. Thank you for being you and normal Jen.
Hammer. Missed the end roll again...

Your lighting is amazing. Very warm but not too dark
Loved your tree!
Your reaction to Layne's alien transformation did NOT disappoint. :)
It's a fun Christmas treat from VoicePlay!
Geoff dropped an epic one as well....Carol of the Bells.....you gotta!

Jen, I know you are busy of late, but I would you make the time for Geoff's new holiday release. It could be his best arrangement to date.
Scheduled for Wednesday 😁
I've been waiting for your reaction to this! Great analysis to a great track! Was chucking when you were doing Layne's solo 😂 Get practising your scatting girl! Thank you 😊🎄
Hahaha yes yes 😁
Always so much fun! Thanks Jen, and Merry Christmas!
Thank you! Merry Christmas 😁
Thank you lovely for the reaction ❤❤❤
3 Voiceplay and 1 Geoff video. You have a little catching up to do.
We can count on her. She’s doing a lot lately!
The Geoff one is amazing
and 2 bass gang
Thanks for sharing these
I totally loved this! So fun!

FYI: I read in the comments on another reaction that Mr. Armstrong’s name was apparently a real sore spot for him. It’s Louis, not Louie.

Louis Armstrong originally did this one in 1953. The late great Satchmo must really like J None since it seems as though Louis donated his voice to J.
I'm old enough to remember this one, but I don't. It never got the play time on the radio, so not will known at all. Satchmo's original is wonderful, of course, but Voiceplay? Out of sight!!
Does anyone know what ungodly low note Geoff hit at 16:12 during the “I know you’re there!” part? I can’t place it.
I’m not the greatest at notes, but it sounds like a G1 in subs? Please someone correct me if I’m wrong

Super super cool!!😁😁 thank you!
It is a Jazz peice. The focus should be on the back 3rd of the beat. Jazz is done in triplets, the 3rd triplet is the heavier of the beat.
Today is Layne's birthday!
Wtfff where is a Geoff low Santa class at the end of sooonggg as in their earlier cover
Can you react to Wrecking Ball - Voiceplay ft. Sarah Vela? 😁😁😁
