I have a SAAS Breather kit for my 80 Series. I'm yet to fit it but it's ready to go on when I get a chance. Did you find you needed to soften the piping first in order to make it more flexible? I'm thinking to leave the piping tubes under the sun for a few minutes just before fitting it. Does it need it?
Hey mate That was fitted straight out of the kit, no softening required. Just make sure you leave enough air line loose in the rear to cope with the flex but not get bound up on fuel lines, brake lines or handbrake cables. 👌
Great video guys, about to do this to mine, question: any reason not to just take the breather directly off of the transfer case and thread in a pipe fitting? Or is it not threaded like the others?
Hey there guys. Thanks for the video. I'm about to install a diff breather kit in my old girl. Mine is a 2001 5VZFE. Is it the same situation with the gearbox in mine? I thought that I had to do both diffs, transfer case & gearbox. Please advise if I am wrong in thinking that. I'll just do my winch as well if that's the case. Last question I promise..... can you install a breather into the Kings Domin8r Xtreme? Thanks for your assistance.
Hey James 🤠 The gearbox is a tricky one. Some autos are completely sealed where the breather should be at the top of the gearbox between the bell housing and the trans itself, so you just run the breather off the transfer one, which does both the auto trans and the transfer at the same time. Regarding the Domin8r Xtreme, I've had one prior to putting the Carbon Off-road winch in and it doesn't have a breather at all. You'd physically have to drill out and tap a thread in the housing on the other end where the motor sits. Not an easy job by any means.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll pass on trying to do the winch by the sounds of things. My old girl is a manual transmission. Does that mean I should have a separate breather for the gearbox & transfer case then? Thanks again for your assistance.
@@jamespledger4095 if it's anything like an 80 series, they share the same breather, the same way we did Socks 90 series in this video. I've never looked under a manual 90 series, so can't confirm that, but I'd say it would probably have a similar setup.
The auto transmission is sealed, so there is that one breather on the transfer case to attach a hose to. I recommend using a brass elbow to run the hose, if you can get one up in there as it's pretty tight for space. The breather looks similar to the diffs.
I fitted my 90 series one up on a driveway. It's not that difficult, only fiddly bit will be the transfer case. We just happened to have a hoist so that made it easier to film. You can do it! 🤙
I might be a bit lazy and use the hoist for everything, but this can be done easily on the ground as well, I suggest start running the lines from the top first so you can feed it along the fuel lines away from potential harm
I did film my bullbar install when it was done, but I never ended up releasing it due to poor quality and poor lighting. I advise to follow the instructions that come with your bullbar though as they would be more detailed than what I had filmed at the time.
@@OzTrax4X4 ok I got a 2nd hand alloy one got all bits and peace's with it but no instruction I have a basic idea but thaught seeing it done always helps lol thanks anyway mate
Unfortunately all bullbars tend to mount differently. My Ironman bar had a winch cradle that bolts to the front of the chassis and the bar bolt to that. An alloy bar would mount differently again if it isn't a winch bar. I'm sure you'll figure it out though. 😉
I’m about to do this myself but I’m curious what did the fuel hose connect to on the trans? The factory breather was knocked off and what was left in there?
100% correct. 👌 There will be a little piece of flared pipe sticking up. Fuel hose goes on that, hose clamp it down and then feed the plastic line into the other end and hose clamp that, then run it up to the breather.
If you go above the height of the factory breathers, there is a risk of water ingress due to a shock temperature change with hot oil and cool water. It's best to extend the breathers if you plan on traversing water above the height of the rear axle.
@@leefiz They technically are. All that is inside is a thin piece of rubber and a spring. Due to the age of the Prado, they generally don't work. If you're not traversing deep water, then I'd leave them as they are, otherwise extend away. 👌
Just about to do this to my 90 ansered all my questions thanks.
I'm glad you've found it helpful.
Hopefully have a few more 90 series tech videos in the future once Sock is ready. 👍
Вывел с заднего моста под капот сапун. Постоянно эмулься в нём была. Вывел под заливную горловину проблема ушла.
да, вы можете это сделать, но в случае перехода через реку точка на видео выше, чем заливная горловина.

Unfortunately it's not threaded, it's a fixed piece of pipe, so this is the easiest way to do it. 👌

so whats the process for the transfer case? knock off the existing breather, then attach that 7.5mm ID hose to the barb? what does it look like?
