  • This video is part two of a three part series covering my load out for Operation Under Dog. In this video I go over my sustainment gear for Operation Underdog which is the first 40 hour continuous milsim I have attended. In this video cover my backpack, sleep system, rain gear, food, etc. Part three will be an after action on how this load out worked after the op.
You can find Part 1 of this series in which I cover my operations gear here:

Cool video, I'm always interested to see different approaches to kit, US guys seem to mostly prefer rain covers for packs but here in the UK everyone uses either a roll top canoe bag or the issued goretex bivvy bag (no zip) as a pack liner, I guess because we assume it will rain all day every day!
The issue Bergan (pack) is 90l with 2x 10l detachable side pouches that can zip together, back in the day our unit SOP was all our NBC (CBRN) kit went in one and our Basha (poncho/tarp) kit and rations went in the other, leaving the main compartment for sleeping gear/clothes etc.
I still pack along those lines for 36/48 hour events, I put up a blog post about my sustainment gear but it's definitely the less sexy kit, all anyone really wants to see is "loadout" posts with plate carriers and belt kits.

Does the game stop play at night? Also you might be better served with the summer weight bag and a poncho liner instead of the heavy winter bag. If you wear some light silk weight thermals and use the light bag and bivy you should sleep pretty warm especially with a good pad with nice Rnaught rating. The Goretex is decent but having used those for 19 years that model is not the best for rain gear. Good cold weather but rain wise the GEN III ECWCS Goretex stuff is considerably better for rain / wet weather. Love the video man and seeing your packing thoughts behind your approach to the event.

Thanks for your first hand knowledge! There is actually a LOT of game play at night. In fact my understanding is that that is the only time the FOB is attackable. I have the Gen III stuff for work but it is the wrong color for my faction. I was trying to save some money rather then $200+ on rain gear I will only use once.

@@GunfatherMilsim understandable! Also not a problem, I learned the hard way what works and what doesn't LOL, Iraq actually gets cold at night. I am like you and hate sleeping cold nothing more miserable and if I can avoid it I will. But at the same time that entire sleep system might be over kill. If you can ever source it for the future there is some really great wet weather stuff from ORC in M81 it's great to have in the inventory if you are going to do more of these events and be a faction that requires woodland.

My prediction is the heavy sleeping bag will be just a pillow. Between the bivy and light weight bag, you’ll be toasty.
