My school is doing Aladdin Jr and I’ve been casted as genie. And even though I’m not in it, this will always be my favorite song, and I will always annoy the stage hands and do the dancing backstage
I’m playing Kassim in my production of this show and I kinda feel like he has more personality in this scene than the entire rest of the play lmao. I kinda wanted to be Babkak because he gets the funniest lines, but I guess I’m happy with what I got

Oh no I'm sorry. Why do they hate you? I had to do scenes and sing duets with people I didn't like because they were not nice to me or because they were an ex-boyfriend but remember... it's ACTING. So you go to rehearsals with a professional attitude... do your scenes/numbers and that's it! Only worry about and care what you can bring to this character and you shine on that stage!

I'm a costume director for my school's edition of this play, but watching this makes me wish I was part of the actors. They look like they're having so much fun on stage.
They did have a lot of fun and they all had such great chemistry! Hard to believe that they mounted this show in just 9 rehearsals within a 2 week span!!

@@yeahright1020 Ya just 9! They did get their scripts like a couple of weeks before that 1st rehearsal and all had to be off-book by the 1st rehearsal. This was a youth summer group and so they rehearsed ALL day from 8:30am to 4:00pm but still 9 days is insane!
I can't wait to do aladdin Jr this June! Even if I'm not a main character being in the back is still an achievement for me as I have stage anxiety and can't perform in front of other people
My school was doing this play around a few months ago but due to Covid 19 they had to put it on pause. I was super excited since this was the first opportunity I had to be in a play. I got the role as Babkak. I don't think I make a very good Babkak and the people who play Kassim and Omar at my school their roles fit them well. I'll try my best though. I'm hoping that they'll continue the play in November. Wish me luck guys!😁
Well congrats on getting the role and hopefully your school will get back to normal and you guys get to perform it! Don't sell yourself short... your director obviously believes that you are good enough to play the part which is why you were cast!! Believe in yourself and have fun with the character! And if you're unsure of how to deliver a line, ask your director! Most importantly is to have fun! And if you're not already friends with the others playing Omar, Aladdin and Kassim, get to be friends. Go and hang out all together and create that camaraderie and chemistry because that will absolutely translate on stage if you guys have a strong connection & chemistry!! I’m auditioning for a production of Aladdin jr where they’ll probably gender bend these roles because thee aren’t many guys (I’m an alto btw) and it’s the first role with this company I feel I could really pull off, but I’m only 14 and they tend to only cast the older kids (it will be my sixth show with them so far and the biggest role I’ve gotten is one of the teachers in school of rock but I’m mainly ensemble or really minor few line roles) anyways, I have the perfect range for one of these guys and I think I could pull it off if they gave me a chance or a callback or something. Wish me luck! (They do cast people my age and younger for things like this, as well as people getting leads on their first show, we have to sing a bit of friend like me for the audition and I can belt that one out really well so here’s hoping🤞)
