    We have a warrior 175 and we try to make as much room as possible, but you have made the most of the room that you have. You done a grate job making your boat suit your fishing needs by making attachments for the boat great job.

    Graeme, awesome video. I currently own a 17.5 foot mid-1960s MFG V-hull runabout that I am in the process of 'converting' into a fishing boat. When I originally 'rescued' it from a date with the Junkman's saw, she was set up as a ski/tubing boat and needed alot of work; new transom, new floor, new seats, paint, ect. After stripping the hull, I decided to add a half-cabin and rig her for fishing the Great Lakes here in the U.S. Due to a 'funding' problem, the project was put on hold about a year and a half ago and the boat was put into storage in our yard under tarps. Over this past summer, I was able to restart the project. I was going to scrap the cabin idea but after finding your channel and seeing your Wilson and the benifits of having it, when she is launched this coming spring, she will be sporting the cabin. It took alot of work to build it and rebalance the floatation and alot of people think I am wasting time and money on it, but hey, it is how I want it. Thank you for a great you tube channel and many more thanks for getting me in the mindset to finish my boat. Luck to ya with every cast and safe navigating.

      Glad you enjoy the channel. My boat certainly isn't perfect from a boat-guru's point of view ,but its what I want and I am happy with it. The one thing I can't sort out this year is the weather,been windy a lot here in the UK so not been used as often as I would like. Good luck with your project.

    I used evostick contact adhesive.Still going strong three years later.You can also run a support bead of sealant or grab adhesive along either side of the edge to act as support .I wouldn't be without my shelving that's for sure.I glue 1" square along the base,then I can screw the ply onto that.Same for any verticals.
    Graeme.

    Don't worry.....we saw the huge sail catch you made as soon as it was out.You must have had blisters ! I can imagine how much Scotty was screaming at everyone from up on the tower !! Check out the vintage film on our site,Sailfish in the Keys,we took some kids out,and if I recall they had ELEVEN sailfish ,all in powder conditions,which is what I'm guessing you had.Keep watching our site/films and spread the word on the forums up your way.

    Most fishing boats do only have a cabin (smaller or bigger) but i like that flibridge on top of the cabin because you have a good view and it protects you from wind and rain. Can you buy this flybridge you have on your Wilson Flyer seperately because i think it can also be used on other types of fishing boats?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  3 года назад +1

      Spray canopy ,but I think they called it a "flying bridge",which of course its not,as that would mean a 2nd deck...Keeps wind,rain and spray off,but also think about canvas "dodgers" that can go from canopy top to gunnle. Good for side wind during colder months.

    Want to buy my first sea boat but what are the hidden costs of owning a boat such as mooring fees etc do you have a video explaining this for the uk market, that’s the things that put me off owning one not the initial purchase but the hidden costs involved. Excellent videos mate

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  6 лет назад

      I don't go for the mooring option as I like travelling around and the mooring fees can be really high. Its alright if you live in that area and can whip out for half days,but for me everything is an epic travel before I could even get out.

    Hello again Graeme found a bit of info on the boat seat you have its made by Plastimo as is the pedestal . can you tell me the depth of your bench seat and how have the fixed it to the side of the boat? cheers Chris

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  5 лет назад

      The Wilson company fitted the bench at the back.In fairness I use it more as a workbench,and I could have a board over the back with rod holders if it wasn't there and gain more space.But most of the time I'm on my own so space isn't an issue. A tip I found when running with Mike and a load of shark chum was that by sliding all the weight to the back,and even standing back a bit from the wheel I could gain up to 2 knots planing. When we slid the cans of chum/tackle about 3 feet higher up the boat the speed would drop off.

    Hi Graham, interesting about the Wilson and how people mention that they slam and are noisy,I own a 17ft Wilson and have noticed that the hull isn't foamed is that the norm?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  10 лет назад +3

      I was always told by other small boat anglers never to get a foamed boat as any water ingress will go unnoticed, the boat runs deeper and heavier, won't plane and you burn buckets of fuel. Yes, a Wilson(Or any cathedral hull) slams in a head sea,that's the downside, but I don't want to fish in force 5 gales anyway so its not a problem for me.I would sooner have an hour of chunking to get to a mark a bit slower, but then have 7 or 8 hours of sublime comfort at anchor with the stable platform the Wilson provides . I have no intention of changing mine ,its been brilliant on the big sharks we catch, and I've even had Common Skate to 140lbs right inside it when I towed to Ireland. There's no such animal as the perfect boat for all conditions, but I won't be changing mine any time soon. Hope that helps - Graeme

    Mr pullen
    What is the screen at the top called ‘fly bridge’? As I cannot find any on the internet
    Many thanks Chris

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  6 лет назад

      This is made with the boat. I guess it comes from the word "fly screen" ? So if in a car you don't get plastered by insects ? It must be a word carried over from vehicle use.it basically keeps the cold wind off you and of course even colder bow spray...probably the best thing I have on the boat as I hate being cold,or worse,cold AND wet !

  • @juliemeechan4044
    @juliemeechan4044 6 лет назад

    Peter Gore Seer,
    The Boat Is A Good Fishing Boat But You Need A Hatch Window Up Front For Ankor Access, But The Prob Is The Height of the Screen At Sea They Act A Sail In Wind, And Wind Agaist Tide Your Boat Is Ankored Its All Over The Place, My Friend Put A Standard Outboard On His Boat, I Had A Long Shaft 40hp, The Boat Fishes Best With Low Profile Cabin With Opening Hatch.Perhaps A Folding Screen.

  • @chriswhite904

    also how do you find the pedestal seat when your stood up driving boat , is it close to the back of your legs ? thinking of getting one as I have the same boat

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  5 лет назад

      I guess I stand to one side of it especially when on my own as it balances the boat better.But I know what you mean,if you got the wrong size chair it might be too big..You need a good base plate of wood to glass/screw it to,but mine is rock solid after 10 years. Perfect when it swivels round as I can sit facing the rods comfortably.

    hi guys was wondering do you need any special type of license or nautical training to go out to see if you own a boat

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  10 лет назад +1

      No,for small boats its a case of buy one and go in the UK.Might be different in other countries,so worth checking.There are various courses you can take which might give you a reduced Insurance premium.Insurance is always worth taking out .
