The check-in at most places is usually at 2-3pm. Giving such a late check-in at 4:00pm and charging extra to check-in early seems to be a bit excessive and will leave a bad taste in the mouths of your consumers. Just charge an additional $20-30 in cleaning fees ahead of time for every customer and if you can accommodate the early check-in then accommodate them. This is not a normal fee that consumers are used to paying so it may backfire in less 5-star reviews. You want your guests to feel accommodated and welcome, not like they’re getting nickled and dimed.

This is market specific. The standard check in for my market is 4:00PM. Even if it wasn't though, it's still up to you if you want to offer a paid early check in or not.
This also plays a role in your customer avatar. My units are catered towards traveling business professionals and corporate housing. This tier of guest understands that early check out is extra work for the host and doesn't mind paying extra for it if they want. More importantly thought, they have the budget to pay for it too
If you're customer avatar is mainly leisure travelers, then your point may hold more weight but I'm not catering towards them. And even the leisure travelers that book my unit haven't had an issue with a paid early check in. If they don't want to pay for it, they simple say no thanks, i'll arrive at 4pm. These guests have still left 5 star reviews.
Because of this, while your statement can be true depending on the market, it's not universal advise that one should take until it is confirmed by what they see in their market. Thanks for the commenting

10- 3 pm is not enough time. It takes 2 hours to do a proper job for a small studio. Gotta check dish and glassware. Most times guest just rinse and place greasy fingerprints still on them! Also utensils. Need time especially when making the bed. There’s still a stain that’s still left that needs to be remade. Restock hand soap, shampoo and other toiletries and place new towels. Also needs to be rechecked and folded to place. People don’t realize. There’s more than just wiping things down! Laundry also takes another 2 hours during or after cleaning. It’s already a physically demanding job. Rushing adds on to the stress to already trying to get rooms done on time. I think 10 am to 4 pm should be the norm. Especially if there’s more than two rooms to clean. If the room is ready before hand. Owners can let guest know. But for a request for early check in to be first in line should be compensated. Especially if a guest arrived very early in the morning! It’s worth the extra charge. But extra $5 to $10 an hour is fair. $15 is a bit much on-top of cleaning room and possible parking fee.

@@main2333 So true. In my case, free parking on the site of the complex is available. There is no parking fee so it's more feasible to charge $15 an hour. For the most part, guests that want to check in early don't mind paying that amount in my market. Again, I'm catering towards the business class to a large degree though that often has an early check in fee built into their budget if needed. To some degree, what you charge for early check in can depend on your customer avatar. If people aren't accepting it, then a decrease in price for it may be in line if you still want to offer it. Like maybe $10 an hour like you mentioned. Thanks for commenting!
