  • This is Day 2 of our June 2020 adventure down to the Starved Rock area. The hiking and the waterfalls are well worth the trek. It was fun turning the corners to find each new feature, from lagoons, rock formations, and waterfalls large and small it was great immersive hiking for the whole family. We saw luminescent dragonflies, baby ducklings and the illusive Illinois tourist all in their natural habitats. I hope you enjoy coming along on our little voyage. Part 2 of 3

Inspirational for me; a novice. Leaving the concrete jungle Chicago this weekend.

If you explore, you might find a new and better place to call home. Coming from Chitown, it could probably be cheaper too!

Nice video. Matthiessen is an amazing place. I really like Starved Rock, but I personally like Matthiessen better. Have you ever been down to Shawnee in Southern Illinois?

"Sensationalism." I hope you never find out first-hand how selfish that is.

Sensationalism doesn’t mean non existent, but it does mean in many instances it has been overrepresented. And that also does not mean i do not observe precautions and respect distance and concerns of the vulnerable. So its not accurate to presume i am selfish because i hold a position that does question the validity and general accuracies of what we are being told. People being scared into not going outside in a park where particulates are quickly dispersed and where the virus half life is severely shortened is one case of over sensationalizing. More over there are a whole host of discrepancies in the manner in which cases are counted, positive verses negative test results are tallied, etc etc.
Im so glad you bothered to take the time to comment on the single “provocative” comment in the whole video.
Nonetheless it means you watched to nearly the end so i hope you enjoyed the positives.

@@GritandGrace Yes, I was quite enjoying the video until I got to that comment. And I work in a hospital so I certainly find it "provocative" when people assume organizations like the CDC and the WHO are exaggerating the risk. When dealing with a new pathogen, we don't have good data initially to know that you're infectious on day 5 after exposure but not day 4, or that 72" is definitely out of range to spread but not 71". Conservative guidance is given to keep people safe in the meantime, and that isn't "sensationalism". It's common sense. don't know what it was like in your area but my local trails were overrun when indoor activities started closing. It wasn't possible to safely social distance even outdoors in most parks. 4 months since you posted this video, and we're now seeing daily covid deaths comparable to 9/11. I don't know what precautions you're actually taking, but I urge you to consider the message you send to your audience when you imply the risks are exaggerated (or fabricated). Your local medical providers will thank you for not making their jobs harder.

@@ThexImperfectionist i just listened to a speech given by dr pierre kory, MD associate professor of medicine at st lukes medical center WI.
He asserts he and his team of doctors have a repeatable and verifyable body of evidence that iromectin is a readily available anti viral that has greatly reduced mortality, and prevents contraction to begin with.
Have you heard any of this?

@@GritandGrace That link is blocked. I am not familiar with ivermectin so I did some quick reading. It's used mostly in animals to treat parasites (not viruses), and is only FDA-approved in humans for the treatment of external parasites like headlice. It's shown some efficacy against covid in vitro studies (using cell cultures), but it would need to be studied in animals before it could even start Phase I trials in humans. So, best case scenario, we're a long way away from that as a possible treatment, even if the data are favorable at every step.
