- Afghan National Army soldiers with 1st Kandak, 1st Brigade, 215th Corps, and Marines with 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, patrol through the Nawa district to promote confidence in Afghan security. The security forces participating in the 30-mile, four-day patrol heard gunfire in the distance on the first day. ANA soldiers and Afghan Local Police aided by Marines patrolled several hundred meters into the desert to contact the enemy and provide security for local residents. The insurgents fled once Coalition forces arrived at their position and the patrol through Nawa continued. Video by Cpl. Jeff Drew. 11.04.2011
Agreed. I can't say I used to be one of those kids because I was. But after listening to stories of soldiers coming back from war, I realized it's not something to take lightly. No matter who you are or how tough you are, seeing death has a huge impact on the rest of your life. Of course I've never served in the Armed Forces and I truly appreciate everyone who does make that commitment, so I can't say I know what it's like and I hope I never do. So that's why I back our troops up 100%

the army is good. Seals, Delta, rangers all of them very good but seem to be more surgical for smaller forces but dammit the Marines are my favorite. They are always the ones who is running toward the bullets on these videos, manuever and destroy the enemy and capable of taking on large forces. To me it's what sets them apart from the rest.
When you’re in war none of that matters... each branch couldn’t be successful without help from the other branches, they all work together all the time anyways... when the US took Ramadi in 2006 it wasn’t just the Marines or just the SEALs or just the Army... it was all of them working cohesively together as a team. Flinging bullets and killin bad guys.

It doesn't matter what force it is. If you have enough people and vehicle cover like they did & the mission is to clear the village which it was thats why they had so many resources. Then you complete the mission you started. It wasn't a patrol it was a clearing mission.

Most people would have the same expressions when asked to run toward gunfire. Surf the net and you will notice most of us Devil Dogs are taught fight not flight. However, you make a strong point. It takes great courage to run towards danger. Especially when one is not trained to do so. I will pay homage this Independance Day to the brave men, with little to no experience, who defeated the British Empire.

You're supposed to be mentoring the ANA how to patrol correctly and carry out efficient methods of movement; not just run across open ground side by side basically holding hands. I've worked alongside you guys and by no means am I saying you're shit but maybe humble yourself and realise you had a lot to improve on, just in these 10 or so minutes. Also I'm assuming you know about spacing when static or why 4 standing 1 metre apart for at least 10 seconds is a bad idea.
Well , for one thing , in a bad situation if you call for " United States Marines, UP ! " Every Marine who is able to stand will come to your aid - he might be 70 years old , but he is coming - along with the rest of them. Never saw that from any other branch - no disrespect intended . As far as mentoring the ANA , that looks like herding retarded cats . My guess would be they must just be tired of babysitting them.

@@joeglasgow3075 I did join, I ended up going into the National Guard so I could finish college and get some help from the Military to pay for schooling. I did my 6 and got out. Within those 6 I never deployed and did not volunteer for one because of college and soon after graduating college I had a job lined up. Talking with some of my buddies that were active and in my platoon who spent their fair share of time over in Afghanistan I have mixed feelings about Afghanistan so I’ll make it short. The US will never change the views of a multi-generational ideology. They have their beliefs and will always keep their beliefs because it’s in their culture. When kids grow up watching their parents get killed by Americans only makes their hate for us even greater and when they are old enough they join the fight against the US. While I think just abruptly pulling troops out without an actual plan might not have been the proper solution, however, like President Biden said, “ the right time may never come.” Who knows what the future will hold over there and I do not believe that what the soldiers in the past did over there was for nothing, but that conflict over there will be a never ending conflict and I do believe that it was time for the US to get out and start worrying about fixing our own problems here in the States.

RUclips has got a weird link posting rule(it's all greek to me) but the video is called "Intense true close ambush." Thank you for not being a jerk and swearing up and down that these people are running. In this video Marines are advancing and at about 2:30 while RUNNING across a field bullets start wizzing past him and he CONTINUES TO RUN TOWARDS GUNFIRE. Oh and one more thing it turns out the muzzle flash was a grenade from an M203 at a distance but still it actually has running.

I was actually running towards that gunfire on that day also. I was on another continent, but I was running in a NW direction, so I was only slightly behind the US and ANA forces. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

no i was an engineer attached to 2/3 echo thats a base called dang ghar, north east of lamba, they are probably hearing a fire fight from lamba, poole aka lamba dand was where i was and it was by far the most kinetic area in nawa when i was there.

Those black glasses that soldiers usually wear like a few of these guys are. Are they just plain old usual sunglasses for protection from the bright sunlight, polarized glasses or something else that would visually enhance the visual at a distance?

I've worked along side the USMC and they are good soldiers. Very tactical and skilled, which was a surprise as I heard they where just crazy cowboys with guns who didn't give a shit about whether they died or not( literally not exaggerating). So I was impressed when I found that not to be true. But the tactical patrol skills in this video are shocking, no spacing and standing about in the open. Like they are just going for a stroll. Wtf guys!!! Maybe they just weren't as good as they guys I wor

It's actually really easy. Intense firefights happen all the time. The only problem is that the only ones ever caught on film are the ones that are filmed with shitty helmet mounted cams, and the camera is shaking so much that its hard to watch. If someone would just bring a decent camera and set it up on a tripod and face it towards the enemy positions, we might actually see enemies getting blown away, but it's never like that, and all we ever see are soldiers shooting at nothing.
they edit it out. saw one where the audio cuts, and the video fades out so you cant see a marine with a bullet/shrapnel wound hit the ground.
They DID run a little in this video so its not all that misleading.
