that floor tom needs to be tuned up a little bit in pitch lol sounds almost identical to his bass drum lol that being said, AMAZING performance as a whole. the way he used that floor tom as its own instrument with different pitches was insane

For what it's worth, I think you have to have played on some great albums to be considered the greatest of all time. And that wouldn't count 'drummy' albums that only drummers have heard of. I mean Grebb could technically run rings around Porcaro, Gadd, Jim Gordon, Bernard Purdie, Jim Keltner, Andy Newmark J.R. Robinson, John Bonham, Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Dave Tough, Elvin Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Steve Jordan etc etc but the only people who care about that are drummers. I mean Grebb can lay it down of course and better than many other technically incredible drummers who are around today. But who gets the calls to play on peoples records? That's the real test. Just about anyone, with enough practice can sound brilliant in there own studio playing along to backing tracks or sequencers.
I completely agree with you. He is certainly not the first one to call, or the second etc.etc. By the way, I noticed that Weckl and Colaiuta were not mentioned in your summary. It’s not a coincidence, I think🤔. Saw Weckl three weeks ago in the Netherlands. He is clearly one of the first calls.

I agree classic Dennis Chambers at the end. Also there needs to be more conversations on the African and Afro-American Cultures contributions and influence on drumming across the world. The drums started with us. I dont agree with him being the goat!

Neolithic cultures from China originated the drum back in 5500BC.
Sri Lanka and African used the drum as a form of communication back in 1000-500BC, thousands of years after the Neolithic cultures originated it.
Just research it. It’s not hard to find.
