I use the pin stitch to start but go under threads to end. Nicola from Hands Across the Sea samplers has the best tutorial, so clear. Plus she has such a pleasant voice to listen to. Thanks for still coming out to be here for us!!
You know it’s very reassuring to see FQS videos are continuing through this madness. And this week I received four packages from you. What a joy, it felt like Christmas last night as I opened them up. Weather here is wake, jumped from the mid to high 70’s too 100+ in just a few days. Doesn’t boad well for summer.q and we won’t see cooler temps till late October. We are hanging in with you and waiting for things to ease up. Please take care. And thank you for everything including our sometimes grumpy pants.😘
Sending a huge thank you. For the videos I know it’s probably very hard to make this all happen. It’s definitely something to look forward to each week still! I’m still online shopping like crazy. Can’t travel so shop. Thank you for keeping your company moving along as best you all can. You are definitely a treasure.
Kimberly said she was having trouble learning the “Pin Stitch” and thought I would send a little information from Sassy Jack’s Stitchery. Kimberly Young is giving free lessons on speciality stitches from Jeanette Douglas’ Learning Stitches book. On the Sassy Jack’s Stitchery site there is a drop down menu on classes. Click on Learning Stitches 2020. Click on Lesson 5. In order to save time, Kimberly demonstrates the pin stitch at 21.45; 55.25 and 109.32. I am just getting back to cross stitching after 15 years of quilting. I found out that I can do both!! (Just like Kimberly and a lot of others.). I know Kimberly Jolly uses the loop method and usually stitches with two threads over two. I am not sure how it works with using two threads but I am sure it can be done. I hope this helps. Since Kimberly J. is so OCD about her stitching, I wanted to help reduce her stress so she might be able to learn the Pin Stitch. Good luck!!
Oops, I just saw where Kimberly Young took down Lesson 5 and is going to redo the video in 3 parts. She was having audio problems on the original Lesson 5. I am sure she will demonstrate the Pin Stitch again. Oh, well, I tried. Sorry.
Enjoyed as always. For the pin stitch, I come up in the center left of the X, then go back down near the edge of the right side of the X, then come up starting the stitch as usual, clip small tail and continue as normal. Hope that helps.
I loved the video. I just saw a short tutorial of pin stitch by Dot Dot Goose. I think it made sense! We are in northern Indiana. We don’t even have our pool open yet ... has rarely been above 70 yet. Love your stitching!
Caroline at Off the Grid Needlearts had one of the best tutorials on the pin stitch and took the fear out of it for me. Love your Maynia stitching. I’m doing WIP Maynia, but I’m doing new starts here and there to help with quarantine blues. So.....I just purchased Feels Like Home and am going to kit it up tomorrow on a piece of 14 count whitewash board - can’t wait! Thanks for another great video and happy stitching!
Hi Kimberly. Loved your Maynia progress. That Prim Village is taking some time, what’s your favorite fabric for stitching? I just did a project on linen and I love it but wow. 32 stresses me out.
Hi Kimberly! 😊 I know you said Lori bought you the bag that you have Prim Village Project in on Instagram. Could you tell us the seller for that bag? Love following you each week. Have a great day ❤️
I like the Peacock & Fig tutorial on the pin stitch ... she has one on a "mini" pin stitch that goes into more detail. I sometimes it to secure free-form embroidery when both sides are seen
Hello FQS! Another great video. Loved seeing how you’re using the number pendants for Maynia. I might have to get some for next year. Thanks for showing how to use the beeswax for threads. I got one in my Sew Sampler box, but wasn’t sure how or why to use it. I’m going to give it a try. It’s so nice to see (Kimberly) and hear (Lilly) you all live. Things are looking up!
I look forward to your videos each week! Thanks so much. Understanding the issues with getting floss right now, I was wondering if you are considering make a DMC floss pack for the Prim Stitches Pattern Club? I was unable to take part in the Prim Village stitch along and did not purchase the AuriFloss box. Economically, for me, to purchase it just for the Prim Stitches would be out of my budget. Thank you so much for considering and answering my question. Keep up the great videos and say hi to Lilly.
Hello Marilyn! No, we will not be making a DMC floss pack for the Prim Stitch Series, but you can see our DMC conversion on our site here: www.fatquartershop.com/prim-stitch-series-cross-stitch-pattern-club-reservations
Kimberly not sure I’m doing it correctly but I watched a video from Valerie stitching in the barn and what I do is come up in the center, down in lower left, up in upper right then down through the center where you originally came up. Then finish your top leg. Hope this is of some help.
Kimberly I would love it if you did an up close video on how to count and stitch on 25 count lugana. I am trying to switch from Aida, bought some of Lori,s 25 count and just can’t seem to “ see it “ to count. Thank you.
Hello Lim! We recommend Antique White or White: www.fatquartershop.com/antique-white-14-count-aida-18-inch-x-25-inch-cross-stitch-cloth www.fatquartershop.com/white-14-count-aida-18-inch-x-25-inch-cross-stitch-cloth
Can you do more stitch patterns in a PDF form? I want to buy more patterns but do not want to pay shipping or wait to get started. Especially flash sale. Thank You for everything you do.
Hello! It’s Sew Emma patterns will be available 6 months after their release date for the exception of Lori Holt’s Stitch Cards. We also add PDFs from other designers, that you can check out here: www.fatquartershop.com/cross-stitch/cross-stitch-patterns?paper_or_pdf=3564
Love y’all and miss being able to watch live. Maybe soon I will drink all the coffee and be able to stay up and say hi LIVE. :) Oh and the whole water thing...I get it as I am the same way.
I enjoy all the videos, cross stitching and quilting! Can you tell me if there is a “front and back” of aida. I always take it out of the package and iron it before cutting my piece and sergjng the edges and often I flip it over and over trying to tell if there is a difference
Hello Joey! There is not front and back on aida for solid colors! If it’s mottled, on side will have the mottling, the other side will be a solid color.
Laughed out loud when Kimberly mentioned a thread shortage while sitting in front of her wall of thread. I know it's not floss up there but I still got a laugh - Thanks Kimberly.
Do you stitch two over two on aida? Your designs turn out so much larger then my 18ct aida two over one. This is the only way I have ever stitched. I would like to learn two over two or one over two but do not know if I can use aida?
Hello Anne! I have not stitched two over two on aida! I stitch two over two on Lugana, and two over one on Aida. If you want to see how it looks and try out floss coverage, do a couple of test stitches at the top of your cloth to see if you like.
I would like to know what Kimberly thought about working on the black cloth. Was it hard to see the stitching holes. Thanks for all you helpful information.
Hi Kimberly. I really like your plan for this year's Stitch Maynia. Like you, I like to be able to complete projects. Maybe not all of them, but at least to have progress that is more than just a few stitches. For me, this year's Maynia is stitching every day on one project. It is a bigger pattern so it will take me all 31 days to stitch. I like your realistic approach.
Would love to see tutorial on pin stitch. I haven’t gotten it either .Question : is there away for you to make the pattern ,feels like home ,easier to read and larger? I find it very difficult to see all this symbols small and look mushed together. Took me long time to stitch trying to read it and yes I do use readers. Just not finding ti easy to read pattern. Thank you.
Fat Quarter Shop FlossTube Actually I joined this and never got the email, I sent an email and forgot so I sent another email but was ask Not to send duplicate emails and they would reply because of the virus. Here's a pin stitch tutorial, with links to diagrams for aida or linen, which make it easier to understand. I'm determined to learn it too.

Love all of you!!!! Love the floss tubes!!!What is the purpose of the beeswax for the thread. Thank you.
Hello Debbie! The purpose of the beeswax is to prevent tangles.
Caroline at Off the Grid Needlearts had one of the best tutorials on the pin stitch and took the fear out of it for me. Love your Maynia stitching. The pin stitch only works on 36 count and higher and using only one strand of thread. Enjoyed your video.
Hi Kimberly. Loved your Maynia progress. That Prim Village is taking some time, what’s your favorite fabric for stitching? I just did a project on linen and I love it but wow. 32 stresses me out.
Hello Ann! Kimberly's favorite is 14ct Aida and her second choice is 25ct Lugana.
Son hermosos los esquemas de punto de cruz 😍. Lástima que están lejos de mi alcance 😥
Hi Kimberly! 😊 I know you said Lori bought you the bag that you have Prim Village Project in on Instagram. Could you tell us the seller for that bag? Love following you each week. Have a great day ❤️
Hello Lillian! The designers name on instagram is crosshatchquilts (Kristie)
Fat Quarter Shop FlossTube thank you so much. See you on the tube tomorrow 😍
How do you keep all that thread behind you dust free? Just curious...

a trick: watch movies at Flixzone. Been using it for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Allen Ray definitely, I've been using Flixzone} for months myself =)
I love my thread conditioner, I have used both Heaven and Magic. I am doing some of the same pieces you are working on for Maynia
Great video. I'd be very interested in purchasing PTP fabric from you if you would consider for the future.
Hello! We currently have them on order.
@@FatQuarterShopFlossTube That's wonderful news. Thank you

I have stitching from 30 years ago that I used the Thread Heaven on and they still look fine. I would not be afraid to use it now.
I’ve only used DMC but would like to try Fancy Floss when the new normal begins...whenever that is.
Love the video !! Would Venetian Stone look good for the Prim Stitch series ?
Hello Nancy! AuriFloss 6730 may blend in with the aida, and not stand out as much. But you can try doing a floss toss to see if you like it!
Love y’all and miss being able to watch live. Maybe soon I will drink all the coffee and be able to stay up and say hi LIVE. :) Oh and the whole water thing...I get it as I am the same way.

Hi from Kansas!
Hello from Victoria British Columbia
I would like to know what Kimberly thought about working on the black cloth. Was it hard to see the stitching holes. Thanks for all you helpful information.
Hello! Kimberly thought it was easy to see. She suggests pulling a white pillow under or using light.
Hi Kimberly. I really like your plan for this year's Stitch Maynia. Like you, I like to be able to complete projects. Can you show a close up of the Bloom-Topia stitch along ?
Hello Winona! We have a close-up of it on our story which shows up on the main RUclips page.
Would love to see tutorial on pin stitch. I haven’t gotten it either .Question : is there away for you to make the pattern ,feels like home ,easier to read and larger? I have tried the pin stitch, it isn’t something that thrills me so I am back to pulling threads underneath my stitches.
