    Oh my god this video edit was a beautiful homage to the fighter inside this classic "Neo Fighter" design. No good buggy starts it's life at the top... it has to come from the streets, prove itself over and over, and become better over time until it becomes..... (could it be the next RC Tamiya releases?) LEGENDARY !!!

    Jconcepts makes a 2wd buggy 2.2 front tire called a Groovy that you may be interested in. It's a rib style which is an ideal all terrain pattern for an undriven wheel, and they are pretty sticky.

      Ahhh, good to know. I really like the narrow grooved tires that Tamiya make for the Star Dish front wheels. But I think it's more suitable for off road than on road. Will check out the Jconcepts. Thanks, my friend.

Trust me when I say if you buy a set it turns into many😂😂😂. The big wheels are just enormous and even on my 1:8 scale sct I need the 30mm extensions otherwise they rub everywhere! I’ve used them on 1:10 scale vehicles with 12-17mm hex conversions using 30mm long adapters and I’m hooked on Louise as they are drool worthy and everyone who sees them in person their jaws drop😂 Buy a set and be tempted by the dark side💯👍😂😂

      Yeah, to be honest, the Tamiya Astral Wheels are one of the ugliest wheels around in my opinion ... Of the standard 1990s buggy wheels that Tamiya still uses I prefer the Star Dish (original from the Top Force etc). But could be cool with a return of the 1980s style wheels too (Boomerang, Grasshopper etc).

    I was sick of going through tyres on mine until I found some Schumacher Honeycomb 1/10-rear-yellow-pr-U6863’s for £7.59 and £1.29 shipping off E-Bay. I’ve had them on my Neo fighter since last summer and there still going. The tread is still there I can still do donuts on gravelly surfaces and they grip if I just want to go fast 💨 I like the look of the ones you finally tried but I like my donuts 🍩 too much...🤣. Try them? They are cheap and durable, I swear by them I was just wearing through the Tamiya super grippers and there £16-17 a pair!! And they fit all the rear DT series 👍. Hope you are well? Guess they will look good on some of the retros too, like the Street/Sand Rover. Hope you will have your hobby room up and running again with new collections of tires and Tamiyas. Still feel so bad for you, for what happened to you.

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC 6 лет назад

      Nordic RC Visions thanks mate. Be a while before I'm back in the hobby room. Insurance company and builders still arguing about costs. Main priority will be to get the bedrooms back together so the hobby room will be last. Meantime I have bought a Tamiya kit which is the Nissan Titan DT-02. I wanted something super basic that I could put together on the garden table and I managed to get the kit for just 88 euros from Germany. Got the brushless set and radio gear. Just waiting for some tools in the post as they got chucked away too. Still enjoying the Firestorm which is a good job as its the only one I've got! New vids from me soon. Your tyre test here reminds me of what I was planning to do with the Blitzer. I'd taken quite a bit of footage and was just waiting for dry weather to test them in so I had all tyres in all conditions. Don't think I'm going to re buy all those tyres so I think the conclusion was to use the Tamiya tyres on soft surfaces and Trenchers or Gladiators on hard surfaces. Enough nerdy tyre chat. Laters mate 😀

      @NordicRC  6 лет назад

      Thanks, Charlie. Ahhh, wouldn’t call them exactly junk. Have some other Carson 4WD sets that are a bit more durable than these. But I think quality and durability is a reflection of the price. The Louise tires are cheap yes, but the Carsons are even cheaper. But I think in the long run, regarding tread wear on asphalt, the Louise tires will turn out to be a lot cheaper :-)

    😊👍nice! the road tires looked awesome! do they make front ones? I can see now you look like you have understeer maybe try softening up the front springs and or stiffening up the rear ones and you will get better fast speed steering.

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  6 лет назад

      Yeah, these are actually the rear ones for a 4WD set. Available with both wheels or not. Think I need a 4WD set too, and a similar Monster or Stadium truck set. There’s more asphalt than dirt where I live :-) Ohh, yeah, do you think it will work? Tried different shock set ups with my DT-02 and the understeer didn’t seem to want to go away. But yeah, with rear traction, grip and speed, one will truely experience the understeer of the DTs :-) But Thanks for the tip, will try it out!

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC 6 лет назад +1

      HI it should that's how you tune even a real car... you can soften the front springs see how that works and then leave them like that and then try making the rear springs stiffer and see how it then goes... one last thing is to put a more grippy tire up front and change camber but on the tamiya I dont think you can.

    • @NordicRC

      Add as much weight at the very front end as possible. I opened up my chassis and stick approximately 100gr of graded tire weights in the inner gaps of the nose but now the front is as good as can get with the original shocks.

      Thanks a lot! No I’m afraid I haven’t even heard of those tires but if they reduce understeer they sound great. Hi Paul! Thanks for the comment. Yeah, it's a real fun build and a real affordable and beautiful buggy. It's not really a race-spec buggy, so it depends who you are running with. If it's friends that have similar 2WD buggies you're gonna have fun with this, but if everybody else has race-spec buggies that cost 10-20 times more than this you probably will feel it lacks some performance.

      @NordicRC  5 лет назад

      Ahh, yes, sorry, maybe a bit far off I agree. Sorry. I was more or less thinking about the whole package. Here a DT-03 kit would go for 60€. Then a suitable entry-level radio and servo for 40€. So a total of about 100€. I bet a lot of 2WD race buggy kits would sell for around 3-500€ and from what I have seen many racer’s electronics would go for the same amount. But yes, probably far from “10-20 times” though I suspect many racers would have a complete set-up (including electronics) of 500€, 1000€ or maybe even more. I have no personal experience, so my answer was non-qualified. Thank you for correcting me. I will think a bit more next time before I just say ‘10-20 times’ 🙂

      A lot of RC dealers have them. Plenty on eBay too.

    Great in=improvement for tarmac use. But will they do a little off road running :-)

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  6 лет назад +1

      I aught to try them off road, but I’m afraid it will be a hilarious test run :-) But I think I prefer switching wheels when I’m out. I hope these will be a lot more durable on tarmac in the long run. Will save a lot of tread on my all terrain and off road tires :-) Thanks for watching my friend. Ohh, I heard you gave your DT-03 away, Huh :-)

      @@NordicRC Maybe try using the stock tyres on the rear that way when the back slips out you at least have some control. Use the grippy tyres on front at least they can help the car getting out of corners with grip to add.

      Neo Kgatla Ahh, yeah, the stock ones are good all round tires but the spikes wear out very quickly on tarmac ... so I like to save those for grass and dirt

      It’s a 2WD. One of the cheapest Tamiyas around. Love it 🙂
