- Refused decided to play a spontaneous small show at a Brooklyn bar after their two sold out dates in NYC. I went here right after seeing them play an amazing set at Terminal 5. Here is the full set. I tried to keep the camera steady, but it was rowdy as hell in there. Thanks to Fid and Rosanne for the heads up and getting me in! // April 24, 2012 (1:00 AM) // The Acheron, Brooklyn, NY // filmed by Jonathan Yi on a Canon 5D Mark II // www.jonathanyi.com

Thanks so much! I'm glad I was able to share this with people who couldn't make it, as well as people who were there to experience it. So glad that people are stoked that this exists.
I was at this show. It was a free "secret" show that they put on to compensate for the fact that an outdoor show that had been scheduled for earlier that day had been canceled due to rain. We had to wait in line for hours to get in (and not everybody who was waiting even managed to get in), it was brutally hot in the venue, and it was the best show I've ever been to by far. The energy in there was unlike any show I've ever been to, before or since. Pure, unhinged, lunatic joy.
Wait no, the show I'm thinking of was in July of 2012, not April. Shit. It ruled too!
Now THAT is a gig. Refused in their element... reminds me of seeing them in a hotel basement circa 1999.
i dont know what it is about this video that keeps me coming back every day. the audio is ok, the video a little shakey yet there is something about this band(who i love), this venue, the crowd and I just dont know what else it is, but this has become one of my fav vids since i found it earlier this summer. i have honestly watched this at least 100 times over the last couple months and i dont see that stopping anytime soon. im only writing this because my wife said to me "again with this video"
I only got in for the last two songs because they'd hit capacity as I was waiting in line, but holy shit. Best show of my life. Thank you for filming this.

I remember kids up front screaming "Pump the Brakes!" and Dennis final got fed up and said, "WE DON'T FUCKING KNOW PUMP THE BREAKS! SORRY!"
Guuuuuh I so so so want to go to a show like this. I’m EXTREMELY happy to have seen them finally the other month with Hives but Hives brought in all these people who just stood around. Less than half it seemed were for refused. We were the only ones dancing and moshing and pushing. And it was such a big venue with a a tall stage (Electric Factory or whatever they call it now...)
I know Refused did a show at Underground Arts after a main show a few years prior. I missed both shows. Really hope I can see something like this one day.
I was at their first secret show in 2012 in Umeå Sweden, their first show in 18 years.. don't know if they had told anyone about their reunion at that time. It was about 200 People in the audience, and yea.. it was an alright evening

This is still my favorite Refused live video. I don't think it'll ever be topped.
I've watched this prob 20 times. Absolutely amazing. Unbelievable amount of energy, captures the band so well.
This video is great, thanks for making the effort to record and share it!
seriously, gonna cherish this moment forever. best night ever.
Badass video. Just saw them last week in Portland. I had no idea what to expect (after so many years) and they blew my mind all over the theater. It was a legendary night with a legendary band.
NOT. FUCKING. DEAD.
11:25 - Then 11:36 "Oh, it's about to get REAL!" . LOVE IT!
this is the kind of setting they're made for! No matter how big they were and still are!
I saw them first at the Weekend 1 Coachella and when that smoke popped off during Tannhauser it A) took me by surprise B) made it worth the trip out to Cali. They did it again in SF a few days later and everyone was commenting on how awesome it was. A few days later they DIDNT do it in NYC and the gig was still outrageous. Cant wait to see them in BK with OFF! and out in LA for FYF. GREAT video, sir.
I'm glad people are digging the video even if the quality isn't so good (tried my best but it was chaotic as hell in there)!
Bueno bueno! Gracias por compartir!
holy shit this is awesome!
Amazing video. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing!!!!!
Fucking amazing!
Refused was the first real heavy band I started listening to (back in 1998) and I still haven´t seen them live yet.
Remember playing Rather be Dead with the old band..
Simply Astonishing.
This rules! Good job dude!
Best video on youtube.
LOVE!
they look so happy =)
To Jonathan Yi, Thank you for filming this. Do you know if there is any soundboard audio from the show to link to this footage? If so, you should contact the band about releasing this on DVD. This is, without a doubt, the most memorable part of their tour so far. We are grateful to YOU for sharing this! (no disrespect to the iphone videos, but his camera is REAL)
sweet man, i heard about this the next day.. was so mad i missed it.
youtube needs an equalizer option
What a concert!! Love the reaction from the singer (dennis) when a girl jumps from the stage at 26:45.
thanksman!!
FIRESTORM!!!!
"Refused" became fuckin huge. The Shape of Punk to Come is the one of the most underrated album of the 90's
True!
During the start of 'Rather be dead' "ooh it's about to get real!" hah
nice video! good job
Loving the Earth Crisis cover, for those of you who are wondering what they're playing.
I'm the guy screaming "Suuuummmmer Holidaaaayyyys!!!" I guess it worked! The Acheron fucking rules! Awesome show.
daaaaaamn! I saw them at Coachella, but I would much rather have seen them at a smaller venue like this. I never got to see them back when they first toured the U.S. lucky bastards hahaha!
amazing stuff man. what kind of lens did you use?
best night ever.
fucking awesome, thanks!
love the guy in the corner leaning on the guitar amp texting. how is this possible during the mighty refused?!
4:22 Holy shit! The whole world came crashing down when that song dropped.
Seems like this was the place the "real" fans came to!
Thumbs up from Sweden!
REUNION 2015!
It's like there first tour
holy fucking shit!
And a couple of the band members have woken up and drink beer and eat meat now I hear....regardless these guys are so awesome.
shit, I even had my musicteacher tabbing "Return to the Closet" for me.. :D
Man what a crowed, remind me of the old refused days in Sweden :) Way to fuck shit up and the band seems to rely enjoy themselves!! Hat of for Brooklyn!
The audio is bad, but I love the DSLR look to the video.
NO DISLIKES AT ALL!!!! NONE!!! FUCKIN A RIGHT WE GOT THE RIGHT PEOPLE LISTEN TO ALL THE RIGHT SONGS :)
Anyone knows if you can see the photos the woman on the other side of the stage took anywhere?
WOW!
Brooklyn.
probably cuz its a 36 minute video and that is just 1 cover that they did it just happens to be 1st
@2:40 I heard they all drank now, and that everyone but Dennis even drank alcohol while Refused was still together. Something that caused tension. I guess even he drinks now. I knew it! Kind of makes lyrics to some of their songs hypocritical now... but whatever. It doesn't mean they still can't acknowledge a lot of the negatives to drug use.
10:25 ♥
am i trippin or are they playing firestorm?
What's the name of the last song?
summerholidays....
02:51 Minor Threat - Small Man, Big Mouth
Summerholiday vs. Punk Routine
06:42 chills!
THIS is refused. saw them @groezrock and even if the show was awesome musicwise... come on. The gigantic REFUSED drape, the firework shit on Tannhauser/Derive.... leave that bullshit for bands like muse.
Good god man! Audio 101. If you're going to record a loud rock band live, use a mic that can handle high SPLs (sound pressure levels) This audio quality is complete shit..
Matt Carey Cmon man, it is what it is. I rather say tnx to this guy that someone recorded this amazing show at all, reminds me of the old days seeing them here in Sweden.
