  • This is surprising! A Deutsche Bahn Class 420 3-car EMU but from Röwa. I didn't even know Röwa did anything other than un-powered rolling stock. This is a vintage model in a dirty and bashed up condition. I put it back together and attempt to get it working. Also, see this model up close as I review it for you.

The history of Roewa is interesting. The company was started by Willy Ade who later went on to produce some accurate and to scale HO models under the name Ade Modelle. They, initially, were sub-contractors for Trix producing rolling stock. They stopped production for Trix in the late 1960s and started manufacturing their own models in both HO and N scale. Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt in the mid 1970's - some of the N gauge range being purchased by Minitrix and the HO gauge range was purchased by Roco. HO scale is not my scene but a Roewa model is always going to be a good buy if you come across one - accurate, always a good runner, and cheap (mainly because few people in this country know about them).

I've never even heard of Röwa. Decent model - shame about the condition. Worth a look, tho.

Roco bought this model and produced it for ages, including a load of technical upgrades in the drivetrain. Outside it's mostly the old ADE stuff that is still hard to beat.
