Collin Marcum I guess it also depends on when you consider the attitude era started too, you could make the argument with the rock but not really for Austin’s transition since he changed roughly around mania 12 time of course, i personally believed the attitude era started at KOTR 96 with the Austin 3:16 speech

If you ask me, the Nation of Domination gimmick is very underrated. It literally put all of the members over after it was done. Rocky Maivia turned into The Rock, Faarooq turned into the Acolytes (later into APA), Mark Henry into the world’s strongest man, etc. It was a good transition gimmick

Too Cool got some serious pops back in the day. Scotty, Grandmaster, and Rikishi were so popular with the fans. If the writers had a clue, they would've had the three hold the Intercontinental (Rikishi) and Tag Team (Scotty/Grandmaster) titles at the same time. But they opted to push Rikishi into a heel turn that ultimately went no where and felt wasted.

I must be the only person in the world who loves the The Godfather's old, Papa Shango gimmick, and I can't tell you how much I absolutely HATED the "American Badass" Undertaker. Then again, I'm one of those, seeming extremely rare, wrestling fans who loves wrestling the most, when it's the absolute most like a comic book. The comic book limits can never go too far for me. The day that I saw Kane shoot lightning from the sky at the commentary table, and then shoot lightning from the sky at a camera man, causing him to burst into flame, is one of my favorite moments in wrestling history. I also LOVED when Papa Shango was feuding with the Ultimate Warrior, and Warrior was doing some interview, they cut to Papa Shango doing some goofy ritual, and then they cut back to Ultimate Warrior, and all this black, syrup, goop started running down his face while he freaked out in typical Warrior way. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!! I loved it! The goofier the characters, the more I loved things. I tend to get bored when wrestler characters are just.... themselves and their real names, unless they find some way to be over-the-top entertaining. Brey Wyatt is my current favorite at the moment. :)

This is a list of attitude era transformations. Ringmaster turned into stone cold in the new generation era (also referred to as "the in your house era"). By the time the attitude era came around, Stone cold was a well established name in wrestling.

I don't care what anyone says, The Sultan had lots of potential. I'm a massive Sheiky Baby mark (he's one of my all time favorites) and having him as a manager should have immediately meant a main event push.

I think the Undertaker becoming darker and more evil was a great idea for the character in the attitude era! In some cases it was actually scary to watch. If the undertaker didn’t become the American badass, I wonder what taker would evolve into.

When did the WWE start using solid red for the ring ropes instead of the red white & blue they used to employ? I know it was in 1997, but I think the Attitude Era really kicked off when that change was made.

This video is about the attitude era. Read the title. The Ring master turned into stone cold way before the attitude era, in the new generation era. And the rock was the rock before the attitude era. The only transformation not listed here about the rock that alot of people don't remember is the corporate champ becoming the people's champ. It turned the rock into a permanent baby face.
