Basically they’re giving the kids playing this a sense of it not being over by implying a magical mood changing artifact may be real. But then again maybe it’s more uplifting in that context that they’re trying to make a kid feel better about their parents marital problems. Considering many kids often feel at fault for parental issues that can be seen as trying anyway.

If it weren’t for Bowser kidnapping her, there would be no conflict, no plot and even no game or story, and Mario wouldn’t have gotten the chance to be a hero. Plus, unlike most damsels in distress, Peach has powers and can fight just like any video game character. And, that’s part of her selfless personality.
