    Great video showing how you set up your controllers. Couldn’t agree more about the reliability of the Gaugemaster products. Thanks for sharing. Roy.

    Hi Mike, In the next life I will learn about 'electronics' for it's an interesting subject and I admire the 'wiring wizards' like you. Well done ! But for now I stick with my DCC - NCE Power Cab and run TTS sound steam locos. Thanks for sharing & kind regards, Filip

    I was about to post a comment on your last video asking if you were alright, been a while since your last video. Glad you are alright now. Lovely job on the control box. I swear by gaugemaster controls. I still use my grandads old one from the 70's. Still works like new!

    I do like the idea of in-line ammeters. Must look into the HF track cleaner a bit more. Still using your controller that I built and I must say it performs superbly.

      Hi Oliver, with electrical circuits it's best to break it all into small sections on paper and in your mind, then work out the interconnections. If we had two simple controllers, one handheld and we wanted to be able to switch between them, you would need a double pole (two switches in one) double throw (switches between two options) switch, you would have two wires from one controller that go to one side of the switch, two wires from the other that go to the other side of the switch and two wires that go from the middle of the switch that go to the track. It's that simple :)

      Hi, great video, very informative. I also wish to purchase a Gaugemaster hand-held unit and switch between that and my Gaugemaster DS. Two things here if ok.... Does the 'double-throw double-pole switch need to be of the 'centre-off' type? Also.. Gaugemaster did a hand-held 'WS' with simulation although I can't see it listed as a current offering.

      Hi and thanks. No switch does not need to be center off. I am not aware of them doing a Ws handheld sadly

    A very effective and interesting setup. Electrical wiring is one of my weaknesses. I recently bought a Gaugemaster HF-2 track cleaner to use on my proposed layout which will be DC and running with a Gaugemaster model Q controller. I was puzzled by the 16vAC inputs - is this if you want to power it separately instead of via the controller? Also concerned that you said you switch it off for coreless motors. I had read not to use with DCC locos but didn't realise there was an issue using with coreless as I have a couple of modern Bachmanns with that motor. Thanks.

    • @ModelRailwaysUnlimited
      @ModelRailwaysUnlimited  2 года назад +1

      Hi, the HF2 needs one supply of 16vAC that can come from the controller output. Yes you will need a switch for coreless motors, a simple on/off switch in one of the AC supply wires will work
