Well spoken Chip! I well remember the good old days working with you at HQ 5 AB Bde when you helped me to get all the great photographs that you and Bde Cmdr wanted 👍🏼🇬🇧

Mostly by the Tories. Thatcher/Major got rid of 104,000 Cameron + others got rid of 54,000 (mostly the army) Blair/Brown got rid of 19,000 but did not touch the army at all which stayed at 109,000.
@@badgertheskinnycow The SAS programe on BBC last night was total rubbish, one of the guys I worked with was in the sas at age 18 and he landed in Scicily and Henry never used to swear or talk about being in the sas
God bless you for your service and heroism. I've watched a number of documentaries by servicemen revisiting the battlefields. The courage and achievement was breathtaking. You made Britain so proud and still do. You were every inch of the breed that won WW2.
Reinforces once again the need for the toughest and most realistic training possible and yet today we have "DEI" and "green" policies inflicted on the services!
You may not be aware but in government & public service employment it is the 'DEI' managers who look out for the interests and welfare of veterans. The military has been evolving for decades. What a pity you haven't.
It's interesting he says he carried a pistol to remind himself that he was a leader not an ordinary soldier ! Wonder if the actions of H Jones inspired that line of thinking!
I agree. I interpret that comment (from 1437) as referencing H Jones as well his comments from 1523 about checking with subordinates also referencing H Jones
@@rodneyfungus8249 His decision to arm himself with a pistol was when he was CO of 2 Para (August 1999 - December 2001) long after Corporate ('The Falklands'), long after the actions of H Jones. This is at 1437 and in the transcript also
The UK government and its armed forces have no one of substance capable of preparing UK for major conflict. This is a the result of poor leadership spanning three decades. Whilst its possible to learn from the past the conflict of the future will look nothing like WWII. Wars are won through strategy and not through tactics and the next war will need a whole of society strategy. Its not about tools its about effective leadership.
What’s so embarrassing is that so many gave their lives for the islands and the Falklanders repaid these brave soldier by selling their fishing rights for millions a year to Argentina. Another war for no reason and on little to no pay!
Winning the war enabled the Falklanders to sell the fishing rights to whoever they wanted. If the war had been lost it would be Argentina who would be selling the fishing rights and the Islanders would be under Argentinian rule. The war was necessary and it is not embarrassing.
First of all, my respects to the retired Rear Admiral. 🫡 My home country, the Japanese government, initially, and perhaps even now, studied the Falklands War as a model for a conflict with China over the sovereignty of the Senkaku Islands.

Chip is a real national hero. And always great to listen to.
I met him once..he was a Captain and he doesn't change. Very level and logical soldier.
Execellent interview lady. Brilliant guy. God bless him and his smarts plus his humanitry and humility

What a privilege to watch. The courage British servicemen displayed in that war was just breathtaking. Advancing into enemy fire. What a breed of men!
Excellent interviewing - short direct questions that bring out the key points we want to understand.
I am still learning new facts about the Falklands campaign years after its conclusion ...... fascinating dialogue.
Britain was stretched to the absolute limit of its military capacity in the Falklands war. Since then its forces have been reduced by half.

Chip because he is a short guy. Short and tough.
